I have been silent for quite a while

Hi all,

I just realised that time is slipping ever faster past the normal 'ken'.

After my emergency surgery last September and the finalisation of my move from one country to another, I have been somewhat selfishly absorbed in many things.

New country, so new doctors. So new routines and new tests and checks.

Finally got (most of) everything unpacked and stored away somewhere (still have to hunt for things occasionally), and asked around, found a doctor's surgery, and a dental practice. Thought we had found a friendly localish pub, but that ultimately disappointed. Had a christmas period with family for the first time for 40 years. December and January have been taken up with health issues. Finally released from hospital last Friday after the last (?) procedure. Doctor's have changed my pill consumption and the new regime keeps getting forgotten!

In amongst all this, I have fitted in a few long weekends away.

Then came a blow. A nephew of mine was sacked the week before Christmas and so we offered him a room to tidy him over. He moved in the day after Christmas and now appears to have his feet firmly under our table. Which means that my dressing has been severely curtailed - which is another thing putting me on edge.

At long last, he has found another job and will get his first pay packet on the coming Thursday. I await with interest how he is going to handle the financial side of our relationship after that. Up to now, we have fed and watered him, even taken him to the pubs and to restaurants. Indoors, he seems to find it OK to help himself to my wines and beers as and when he wants with no asking. At least he does the washing up, but we do have to check it all afterwards and redo a third of it.

On top of that, poor Penny has had her recent troubles, so the proofing of my stories against her knowledge of her characters has been put on hold.

And I have had to go through each and every one of my postings to update the copyright date range. They are ready to post as soon as I gather the energy to start such a boring task.

I shall start with BCTS stuff in earnest in the new month.

I cannot remember if I wished all here a happy new year. If not, I do so right now.

All the best,

Joolz.

I know the feeling

I kind of know what you are going thru I have my bother living with me, 12 years and counting. He works and makes twice as much as my wife and I on retirement but complains if I as for help with a house repair. I even tried to sell the house and move, only he went into a depression over it to the point of a suicide attempt. Got to love family they move in and never move out. Good luck hope he offers money and move out as soon as he can before you have to kick him out.

News is good

I wondered if anything had happened. I am pleased to hear that you are slowly recovering from what was, in essence, a Near Death Experience.

Don't attempt to rush your recovery, but don't take things too slow either. The human body has evolved to be mostly on the move, so you must try to get out and about whenever you can - it is a shame that the weather probably isn't going to help right now.

The brain also needs exercise, so make sure you don't just sit back in front of the box... I mean the TV, since getting online can provide mental stimulation of various kinds. [Of course, coming to BC helps.]

As for your cuckoo, you will just have to do your best. I know people, and know of people, who suffer similar circumstances and winkling the person out of your home can be difficult depending on your particular relationships. At some point you might just have to say "sod it", this is your home and you'll live in it just the way you want to.

I'm afraid I have little more to show you right now, since I spent the last three days rebuilding my main server after an upgrade went wrong. I have NO intention of letting my stories languish, but Real Life sometimes has to take priority.

Keep safe,

Penny

Good to se that you are OK

I have been on my yearly trip down to Bodensee and the HAM RADIO activities. All in a new car up an down the alps. After getting home I restarted to read "The Bikes" stories and just today took a deeper look at what has happened on the BCTS and am glad that I have not missed any of your Anmar stories. The only thing that had come since my last visit was one of the Visund parts. I hope that you have found all the things that you used while still in Switzerland and that life has returned to normal. I do hope that you will find time to continue your stories. like perhaps: "Julina sat and looked out of the windows at the rain and felt bored. Then she thought about what she liked to do before her "new" life started ... In her mind the teacher activity came to her. What a good idea now that noone could get out wolontary. Just think of her 'student's' eyes when they suddenly could count to ten and write their own names.... and sudenly Life looked good again.... " My best wishes for a quick return of your good health,
Yours
Ginnie

Thank you Ginnie

Yes, I have had some health issues but, apart from a quarter year complete break from Anmar, I have kept working.

Penny and I have now settled into a routine where each proofs the others next chapter.

I have whipped up some more detailed, but unadorned, maps for us writers to use - Di Wonder showed me how she created the originals and so I am now the 'map guru' - and I have been continuing the Julina saga.
I have two or three (depending upon where I split the narrative) episodes ready to go, but am withholding them for the time being since Penny is involved with VotV and WMD and there are already enough cross-tale actions going on with several central characters in those two tales that my continuing adventures would merely add confusion when I get the same characters doing other things.

This we deem to be unfair to the readers as VotV, WMD and Julina are all operating at different times.

Anyhoo, fear not that Julina will remain unfinished. She is indeed well upon her way to a surprising and hopefully unexpected twist which will take her to an entirely hitherto unsuspected future...

All the very best
