After a lot of deliberation and a bit of negotiating i'm able to announce that the 2018 Gabycon will take place on the weekend of August 11/12 based near Mansfield, Notts, England - Drew/Gaby's original stomping ground.
More specific details will follow at the weekend but the essentials will be as follows;
Optional bike ride visit to Hardwick Halls and watermill, Bolsover Castle and Warsop on Saturday and visits to Chesterfield and the Eastern Peak district on Sunday.
There will of course be some new Gaby and for good measure maybe even some Trixie - you could even stay in Trix's hotel!
There is camping at Teversall (short distance from J29 of the M1) where I plan to be based and indoor accomodation nearby in Mansfield/Chesterfield. Of course day visitors will be welcome too.
Things will kick off Friday evening with a greet n meet meal and end Sunday to suit attendees.

It had to be that weekend didn't it. That weekend also marks the 50th Anniversary since the end of Steam on British Railways and there are a number of steam specials operating that weekend. I'll be based in Penrith which is close to both Shap and the Settle and Carslile line.
I wish the event all the best and hope that the weather is kind especially for the bike rides.

attend. I'm from the eastern US. I attended the 2015 Gabycon and had a blast! Unfortunately I can't afford to attend this year. I do urge anyone who can go to do so! It's worth the trip!

I would love to be able to go to a Gabycon. I've never had the chance before, but sadly, I have no funds to cover the costs.
Beyond that, I have a legal issue that could be a problem with travelling outside of Canada (criminal record, pardon costs $631 CAD). A board set up by the federal government is looking into lowering the actual cost, but that is still in process and might not succeed.
I hope that everyone that does go to Gabycon 2018 has a blast there. Maybe I can do it the next time it takes place? *giggles*

Have now booked the time / permissions to go. Is camping at the CCC site?
Bit far to cycle in the time available, so will be in tiny car thing.

I'm still waiting for confirmation of my vacation request from Thursday to Monday, but currently it seems to be possible.
