Small steps - a bigger one

I didn't blog here for more than four years... :-(

Many thinks happened during this time:
I removed my old "disguise" completely after Halloween 2013. Fortunately there were no problems at all at work and in my private life.
August 2014 the status and name change was finalized, including my birth certificate.

At the end of 2015 I resigned from my job after being with the company more than 26 years. The location was closing down, I wanted to move back to the region were I grew up and most of my friends and family are living. I thought I had found a new job there but this company was too small to really have enough to do for me and to be able to pay enough for my experience. Luckily I found new employment some weeks later at a small but growing IT consulting company with a very nice team and I enjoy working there very much. Nobody there seems to have an idea that I grew up with a slightly diffent name... ;-)

With this job change I moved in July 2016 to a nice big rented appartement because I didn't think I would be able to pay off purchasing one before retirement age.
Then I unexpectedly inherited mid five figures sum last August...
I signed the contact for my new appartement at the end of October, got confirmation of the financing six weeks later and moved in eight weeks ago. I will completely own it when I'm 63.

Now after all these "small steps" there will be a bigger one on Monday: I'll finally have my SRS.
I don't really know if I'm nervous, I still manage pretty well to not think about it too much. ;-)
After this I'm sure I will spend many hours during the next weeks of recovery by (re)reading many of the nice stories here.

Kind regards from Germany
Martina

Retired

Patricia Marie Allen's picture

I retired at the end of last April. At the end of February 2017 I found a small house in a small town 46 minutes from where I had rented before and purchased it. The area allowed me to get a good enough price with a small down payment and a 30 year mortgage for the monthly payment to be less than the rent I'd been paying before. I'm not worrying about paying it off. My retirement income will make the payments.

Hugs
Patricia

I hope all goes well medically, and life goes on after that.
