For the second time today when I go to bc website i get this page "checking your browser" and then it eventually gets me to bc. There is nothing wrong with either my system or browser so I have to assume there is a problem going on with bigcloset of some type.
If I had not backed up my writing for next chapter of hard choice I would be very very pissed off right now.

to work on updates for the server. i got it once today, waited a bit and got right to it.

Check Out Piper's 'Stuff is Broken" Blog
She's doing a major server upgrade, and not everything is working perfectly. The issue you are having is likely related. I've had the same thing you describe happen a few times.

When I logged in earlier I actually attempted to write a blog entry, strangely enough entitled, "What the Heck!!".
When I attempted to post it all I got for my troubles were completely white screens, so I gave up.
About half the things I tried after that also gave me white screens, so I went away and did something else instead.
The message is from Cloudflare and speaks of DDoS, which means nasty types trying to drown the site with unwanted activity. Whether this is related to the current ongoing work I do not know.

So I take it that the having to sign in every time is also part of the upgrade as well. I only ask because this only started happening as of last nite on my computer and thought maybe I had made a mistake someplace.

I had to sign in after the
I had to sign in after the first round of upgrade work, but I haven't had to log in last night or today.
I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
