Does anybody know how to shut off and hopefully remove Google+? After basically doing nothing for several years it has suddenly decided to pollute my screen and notifications with crap from some comments I posted on youtube. I really don't care that 10 other people have commented on the same video I commented on six months ago. It seems it won't let itself be turned off or removed. I don't want it, I don't need it and I don't ever intend to use it.

Fingers Crossed

I found that yesterday and turned it off. About an hour later it apparently turned itself back on. Turned it off again and so far its working. But we'll see. I've got it set on manual updates and there is one waiting. I found awhile back that, at least in Android, if the updates have been waiting for awhile it will go ahead and do them no matter the settings. It even told me it had, 'You had updates pending for awhile, we went ahead and installed them. This was neccessary in order to insure all your programs are up to date.' Gee, thanks.

Google is like an Elephant

It never forgets.
I once had an Android phone. Google still remembers this despit it being 5+ years ago, me deleting my Google account and everything.
If by some accident I get to a service run by Alphabet or any other Google Company I often get a popup asking me if I Want to restore my account.
Is it any wonder that I never use Google for anything unless I have to.
At least that account was not in my real name.
They probably know more about you than your family does.

Apple still remembers me...

My only device was ipod shuffle 12 years ago... And for some obscure reason my perfectly good gaming rig can't run iTunes...
There is no way to actually remove anything from the Web if you are not an American government agency...

there appears to be a recent "upgrade"
