I just came across this cute short video of one of our favourite animals here at BCTS.

Unfortunately the text is in german, but it doesn't say much more than the video shows. I wonder however do they really not wake up when someone handles them?

Hazel dormouse?

I think we have seen this video here before. At any rate, that looks like a hazel dormouse, the species found in Britain as well as much of Europe. Very cute animals. :) The German captions say that the snores remind the blogger of his elderly neighbor. :)

then no they will not wake up easily, its that deep, it takes changes in the environment, heat, etc to wake them, and pray there is food, or they are toast if its early and gets cold again
