As some may have guessed, Higher and Higher 8 is the last of my backlog. I will now be dividing my time between Higher and Higher, Chakats Give the Best Hugs, Out Of Retirement, and whatever other stories I decide to dip into. I expect to be putting out a part a week, or so.

I have done very little writing in the past week because of a family tragedy. My sister was murdered by her ex boyfriend. This comes less than half a year after my niece committed suicide. To say that the family devastated would be an understatement. I feel so bad for my parents. Nobody should have to lose a granddaughter and daughter so close to each other.

Fortunately, I have a wonderful family, and we will hold each other together. Eventually, we'll be able to think of Dory with a smile.

Any prayers that anyone might want to offer would be most welcome. And if you want to lift a wine or beer in her honor, that would also be good.

Writing is therapeutic. I just couldn't get into it for this whole week. I'm at a part that's fun and light hearted, and I just haven't been feeling light hearted lately.

OMG

*hugs tightly*

I am at a loss of words to describe how I feel. I wish there was some way to bring your sister back. She did not deserve what happened.

That ex has a lot to answer for. People do NOT OWN PEOPLE! Someone can share their life with you but neither OWNS one another. You have to let them go if the other wishes to leave. Have to. If your hearts met and leave amicably, you will meet again in another life. It is sheer insanity to think that you have a right to deny another's happiness just because that person cannot be with you!

I'm upset Ray, I will get it out of my system. My heart is with you.

Thanks

Thanks for your support. We got back from the funeral on Sunday -- just in time for Mary to go to work. I slept most of the rest of the day and the night, then took the kids to school.

The guy who did it is in police custody with several other felony warrants. He isn't going anywhere for a long, long time. It doesn't bring her back, but at least he won't be hurting anyone else.

But the funeral service was wonderful. We gave her a good send-off. It was standing room only. She had so many friends and loved ones. We'll all miss her.

As my wife said, she was sweet, sassy, and lived life her own way. The musicians in the family were allowed to attend the service without worrying about making things work because our dear friends handled the music. They played Dust In the Wind, and used Born To Be Wild as the final send off -- rocking in the church in front of God and everybody. I'm sure that Dory was smiling down on us.

I'm so going to miss that glint of amusement in her eyes and that chuckle in her voice.

So terrible

My heart goes out to you and your family. I hope your families support, faith, and courage sustains you all though this difficult time.
