so...this happened, and it sounds like something out of a sissy TG story, except it's happening in real life. For those of you not eager to click the link the gist is that a 10 year old boy made some homophobic remarks so his mom dressed him up in a tutu, shaved his head and put a wig on him, and put him in girl's underwear, wrote "BAD" on his forehead in black marker and left him in Wal-Mart. Some concerned shoppers called police.

The woman is not being charged by police but she is being investigated by child services. She claims that corporal punishment wasn't working so she decided to try and humiliate him to change his behavior.

As both a transwoman, someone who hopes to be a mother and a person this offends me on multiple levels. I mean...my opinion is that THIS DOES NOT WORK! This will only make the situation worse; not better. On top of that he's 10, great way to mess him up pretty good and to drive home that girl = bad amongst other things.

Maybe I'm over-reacting but god this seems like something awful to do to a kid. So, I'm curious what others think of this.

Parenting Skills appear to be missing...

I doubt we have the whole story; but, this does not speak well of her parenting skills. Anyone of the step she took was too much. Kids at ten repeat many thing that may be consider offensive. More often than not, the greater your reaction the greater odds they will repeat the offense. I never had to resort to more than a simple and calm conversation to stop this type of behavior in my 6 kids.

I've seen similar stories

Frank's picture

Non-sissy. Things like shoplifting or other bad acts being punished by humiliation. It does not work and is a form of child abuse. I seem to recall one incident where a girl was so embarrassed she killed herself. It is damaging not corrective.

NO ONE!!!

. . . should be forced to go into a Wal-Mart!

Everything else she did was inconceivable to the point of wondering why there is any question whether she is a fit mother.

Bring back the Stocks

As shewanted to humilitate her son then perhaps she should be Humilitated instead?
A few hours in the Stocks would probably make her see reason and not have a police record to boot.
I hope her son gets away from her ASAP and to a place where they can be whoever they want to be.
