Greetings and apologizes to those who have been waiting for Matilda's adventures to continue.

After some depression, obsession, real life problems, and a little personal mutational (unintellectual I assure you), I have one chapter ready for proofing and the next chapter about 75 percent of the way completed. I'm sure all of Matilda's fans will be pleased to see just what sort of mischief our little munchkin has gotten into.

I used to think there were only a dozen or two who were interested in my continuation of the tale. However, at last count I have 118 loyal readers. Thank you one and all. How did I come up with this number I think I heard someone ask, that was the easy part. I went through everything I've written and posted and counted the number individuals that left comments, at least most of them (some guest readers didn't sign their comments). All in all that' quite a lot of readers, I thank you.

Now then, before I can post the new chapters I must beg for some assistance, I am in need of some additional proofreaders. I used to have 4 proofreaders and due to circumstances beyond anyone's control I currently only have 2 that proofread for me. The arrangement I've used before is that I will send out a doc or rtf file. The proofreaders will make any corrections or comments that they feel would make the story better and send an updated file back to me. Then I do the final editing, merging the corrections into my file before I post the chapter.

It has taken me some time to get over not having Holly around, so if anyone would like to try on her very large shoes send me a note and we'll see what we can work out. Oh, there is one advantage to being one of my proofreaders - you get to see each chapter before anyone else.

I want to thank everyone, once again, for the kindness they have shown as I've grown these last 9 years. Yes, amazing isn't it - 9 years with BC. Thank you Joyce for the opportunity.

Huggs to one and all

Penny

Here is to hoping....

....that you are as one that she'll consider as a proofreader. As well, as one of the 118 loyal readers about the Munchkin and her fellow Black Sheep.

Everything for the munchkin!

I would like to help proofreading.
As english is not my first language I read the words by the spelling and not by the "sound". It seems that this is why I'm very good in detecting spelling errors and wrong words ;-)

Martina

Thank you

Thank you for the information regarding everyone's favorite Munchkin and her sidekick Maybee and the trouble they seem to get into so easily. I will look forward to reading about Immigration Hall's guests and what will happen next we get to read about it. Penny, I do hope that I am one your Faithful followers regarding the Magical Munchkin and her Fellow Black Sheep. HUGS!

Number of readers?

Penny -

You need to count the number of Reads, not the number of comments. Some of us are loyal readers, even after the long delays between chapters, but we never comment. Your writing (and the editing) is so good, there is little need to comment, just to read and enjoy.

Numbers

LibraryGeek's picture

Comments gives you one number, number of reads another, the truth is in between, as number of reads is skewed by rereads, those of us who periodically reread to refresh our memory of the story. Which is something I need to do, as I remember that I like the story, but my memory is faulty and I don't recollect details. Someone has probably done analysis about percentage of comments to unique reads, and rereads probably doesn't skew the numbers all that much. Say, reads times 90% would be conservative for unique reads, is my guess; just a guess, however. And reads from most recent chapter would have the least rereads, and the best indication of loyal readers, those who still recognize the story name/author after long waits between postings; like I say, my memory is poor. It's been a while since I've reread this universe.

Good to hear from Penny, lets us know she's still alive!

Yours,

John Robert Mead

I'd Guess...

…that re-reads are somewhat higher than that; I'm by no means the only one who returns to recent stories to look at the comments. And sometimes I return more than once, as the number of comments increases or the author responds.

Hi Penny,
Nice to know that you are back in the saddle and I am looking forward to the next chapter, I have followed the adventures of Matilda from the first story of Slc. Keep it up.
