But I guess that Satanists, Chthulists, and everyone else is welcome. I wonder about Atheists.

The actual statement was "the only people I never imagined there are Wiccans", which does not actually equal "Wiccan witches and wizards 'cannot co-exist' with those at Hogwarts", That is a spin. But I would suppose she also never imagined any groups she just did not imagine at all(think of) of either.

There does seem that there might be a fundamental incompatibility, the Wiccan view of magic not fitting in with the mechanics of the magic in the imagined universe of Harry Potter. But then there also is a basic incompatibility with most mainstream religions, that being the magic it self would be considered evil or bestowed by evil, however it seems at least a little more easy to side step that as a single issue. or at least less confusing.

The terms "wicca" and "witchcraft" are at least some what interchangeable even among some practitioners. This is at the very extremely least confusing. Could a Witch(Wiccan) be a Witch(Hogwarts style) without her beliefs imploding, or at least her vocabulary? "Witch Witch is which?" "What is a witch?" Or, would it just confuse everyone else, since there are Witches and then there are Witches not to mention Witches that are also Witches. :S

If she was trying to disassociate Harry Potter from Wicca because of detractors she probably should have at least includes Satanism to since those same people equate Wicca with Satanism, which is primarily why they object to it.

I think I confused my self. :p
>i< ..:::

Well, we have to take into account of a couple of things.

When is comes to magic, I admired other series, like Gargoyles, in that such series acknowledges there were other multiple schools of magic. In other words, there was more than one way to cast magic.

And it was clear that the Harry Potter world has multiple schools of magic in it.

Human wizards use wand based magic. Though, house elves, and other beings, use non-wand magic. This proves the multiple schools theory.

But, the ministry of magic are such fundamentalists, that they only allow "wand magic" to be used. As a way to control the wizard population further. The other schools of magic are clearly bannned. One such school would be Wiccans. Though, they probably exist in other nations, such as the U.S., where there is freedom of religion.

It is also possible that those people that are not good with wand magic, could likely be very good with other schools of magic. If they were allow to learn and practice such magic.

This is something I have not seen covered by neither Ms Rowlings, nor any of the fans, through fanfiction.

Wiccans

also use wand based magic as well as using other instruments including ceremonial daggers.

That the Americans don't like the term witch or witchcraft shows the puritan roots of its own Christianity, which left Britain because they considered the British too liberal in their practice of Christianity. Says loads don't it.

Don't overgeneralize.

Don't overgeneralize things. Most puritans settled in the northeast coast, of what is the U.S. And they were a very small group compared to the number of colonists that came to the U.S., during that time.

Along with this, most of the other colonists didn't like the puritans at all.

While other groups settled in other parts of the country. Scottish and Irish came over during the seventeen hundreds. Also, during the seventeen hundreds, a lot of Germans also moved to what is now the southeastern U.S.

And there are others also. And while it is not talked about a lot. There are some other religions in the U.S. that are practiced, but in broad daylight, in the public.

For example, the movie, "The Garden of Good and Evil" is correct. Savannah Georgia rivaling New Orleans, in the numbers of those that practice Voodoo.

Now, back to Harry Potter. The wizards in english were very secretive able practicing magic, keeping this secret from the general public.

Also, they censored their news, to the point they were willfully ignorant of the culture and technology of the outside world. I doubt most of them even knew about some of the more destructive weapons made from technology. Such as modern firearms up to nukes.

If the wizards are that ignorant of what is around them, then Wiccans, and other types of magic practitioners, in other parts of the world, probably completely fell under their radar.

One loophole for stories is that if something is not mentions, such as Wiccans, or if the people that talk about something not existing is showing to be ignorant about such subjects, and possibly wrong, than such things can still exist in those stories.

I'm sorry, Dylan....

We don't have a spell for that yet. You may go forward if you complete your WLT (Wizardess Life Test) and get letters of recommendations from any two magical creatures, and of course you'll have to transfer from Gryffindor to our new House of Sameoldsameold....

Seems unfortunate

I'd have hoped there would have been no transgender students at Hogwarts. With all their magic, I'd have guessed that they could just fixed it, something like:

Kid: "I feel like I should be a girl."
Wizard: "Poof! You're a girl, now and forever!"
Kid: "Thanks! Are there other transgender students here?"
Wizard: "No, and neither are you. There's nothing noteworthy about your gender identity now, Miss Jones. Now run along."

"Poof!"

An Alternate Wizard: "Poof! You feel like a boy, now and forever!"
Kid: Errrrr....
