It's a big step forward for my state

I was there in the audience to support Howard County's bill but finally this is statewide. Not bad for a Southern state :)

Still, defacto discrimination still exists as people do find ways to discriminate that is not provable as is true in all life but this closes the avenue for more blatant discrimination obviously.

As for any trans-person would abuse the protections as feared by opponents, I would take them to the woodshed myself if that were the case.This is too precious of a gain to be ruined by some bad apples. I doubt that would be the case though, for as a community we are extremely aware that if they were to give cause for legislators to regret their decision would be taken care of.

Still not enough

I work at a hospital in Baltimore, and I can tell you that lgbt people in general get treated like crap in the er. And trans people get treated the worst. And 99% of the transgendered people that are in the er are there for being assaulted. Funny how the people that are paid to provide care can be so heartless. There is still a long way to go...
