Still a ways to go

So, I just went into a fast food place in a town of about 25,000 in a very conservative part of Texas. Heading to the loo, I saw a women's room, but there was a sign placed over the usual "men's" plaque on the other door. On the sign, in magic marker, was the word "UNISEX".
I was impressed. This sign makes it possible for trans people to use the toilet safely. In a small country burg.
But, there's still a ways to go for full equality. I can't help but think of all those poor male BI-sexuals.

They can't use the women's, nor the UNI-sex one!

Updates On Life... (Read with Caution)

So it's been a long while since I posted an update about myself here. I've still been around, working behind the scenes but many may have noticed that I've not been very "public" at all lately.

Truth is, I've been through hell and back, and I don't think I'm done yet.

Today is a good day.

Well today is the first day at the new store. Its a new (store) format that the company has rolled out. I'm really excited to begin this new phase of my employment. Having less stress about the job will mean more processing power that can be allocated to other issues. Overall feeling pretty good lately and I hope this an upward trend in my life. I'm going to be smiling all day today that's a fact and I hope everyone has a blessed day. Working smiles, Jenn.

Ok folks this retail monkey needed a laugh today and got it. Read today's Skin Horse that last panel says it all. We are all hands on deck here at the store and smart phones are flying out the door. In most cases the devices are smarter than the purchasers. If any of you do Black Friday I hope you got some good deals to me this is just another day albeit a twelve hour one. Tired smiles, Jenn.

My grandfather taught me a valuable lesson when I was a kid this is back when black and white TVs sere common and cable didn't exist. I was running in the house and papo said don't run in the house me being a kid did not listen as all kids don't. He caught me again and said don't run in the house, I kept going. A third time he said don't run in the house. The fourth time I ran by him he stuck out his cane and tripped me I fell down and he said you see what happens when you run in the house.

Ok so when you folks get tired of me talking tell me. I can rattle off at the mouth or fingers as it were but I did have to share some stuff today. Low point of the day: spoiled teenaged brat yelling at me in store because she can't text Brad (her phone fell in the toilet and that has nothing to do with the problem) while mom sat idle on her iPad. And this is why I hate people.

Update to the situation this past week.

Ok here is an update on the work situation that happened to me this last week. I requested a meeting with the store manager JS (the one who took the picture) and the store assistant manager JE who is female I had spoken to her the night of. I wanted her in the room so I could I have a neutral party present. My emotions were very high and I very much wanted to maintain my professionalism. We met behind closed doors in his office and I requested that I be able to start first.

Ok, folks I need your help and opinions on something that happened at work. I need to know if I am being overly sensitive because of my gender issues or do I have a valid complaint. I'm going to number these so you can follow the course of events.

1. On Monday our store tech room was getting audited so repair supervisor was at the store but not in tech room when this happened. My fellow tech was out of the room but my store manager was sitting in the room. While repairing a phone the volume button flew out of the phone bounced off my chest and ricocheted under my desk.

Been getting some Messenger List requests on my Yahoo Messenger (for chatting, et cetera) but the addresses look suspiciously like bot addresses.   Can I make a request? If you wanna chat, please send a personal message here at BCTS, so I know your YM request is legit?

So if I should deny your Add Request, please don't take offense - it's because I don't recognize the address.

Eek! Job hunt coming up. Scary.

Ok I blogged about my job situation and the challenges I have faced there last week. Things just keep going downhill and my employer does seem to want to get rid of all the old hands. They are unaware of my looking for something else and I plan to keep it that way. I am turning to the BCTS family for help. Here is my problem I need a resume but am not sure how to write it seeing as the only job I have had in the last ten years is this one. References are no problem I have those in spades in my company and out of it. Does anyone have a template or know of one.

A little back ground on me first, those of you that read my blog regularly know I am about 5'8" and about 230 pounds. I am working on the weight thing. I am Hispanic and since I was twelve have had facial hair and I mean ab lot like a five o'clock shadow at eleven in the morning, not a trait I am proud of and one I wish I didn't have. Nobody other than my friend FO knows about me and I present as very male, you could find a B2 bomber on radar before you figure me out. It comes from years of hiding in plain sight.

A little venting about the job hunt...

So I graduated with my M.S.W. in December. Now going on eight months of the job hunt. I guess I'm in a better position then some. At least where I live there are jobs to apply for. It's just frustrating sometimes. Was in the final running for a job I would have loved. Came down to three of us, but the department manager ended up going with someone who had just a bit more direct service experience then I do. Now I'm back at square one putting my resume in, and trying to keep building contacts. Doesn't matter how high your degree is.

It's only an internship at the moment but it would nullify the verdict of the retireent commission if I would get the job and there's a chance to get get it after the internship

Also applying for another job that is closer to y intrest although it's also partially accounting (account manager for subsidising sports).

I'm going to be gone to the San Diego Comicon from Wednesday the 11th to Sunday the 15th. I'm thinking of shutting the site down while I'm gone or maybe just Thursday to Saturday since I'll be able to work on it Wednesday and Sunday. But really, the place would have burned down if I had been gone three days this weekend.

Some of the peepz here know this already. I have been having problems at work for a few years now. For one due to the fact that they don't want to admit that there's a problem.

So one of the last steps in this drama happened tuesday when I got called before the retirement commission. Due to the fact that there isn't a dossier against my direct supervisor I'll be retired in a maximum of 3 months (so before october and this only if the main office doesn't decide to retire my as of next month against advice of the commission).

I spent Friday evening and the whole day Saturday in the hospital for a checkup. Just a checkup, no big deal.   My therapist thought it a good idea for me to have the checkup, and I did.   And since the set of tests to be done was just a hop, skip and a jump from those required for a full-blown complete physical, I agreed to the extra tests, x-rays and whatnot and made it a full physical - at least the kind of tests that my company's insurance carrier requires for a "full physical."   That means I doan pay nuthin'!   :-)   It's all on the company's bill, and it satisfies the yearly checkup requirement.

The results came Monday (the hospital apparently doesn't process test results on weekends), and then the squad of doctors that my therapist required did their thing and interpreted the results and typed up their findings, and we got everything Tuesday, which we brought to my therapist for her further perusal.

Anyways, my less-than-perfect bod was mostly okay.

Moe and I are back home and found our house to have been meticulously cleaned as only my ma is capable of.   Kitchen, living room, bathrooms all spic n span, and bed clothes nice n crisp n clean (I know ma did the wash coz the sheets smell faintly of Huggies), front n back yards clean and well raked (probably Dad) and a note on the living room table saying that two of the microwavable "Friends" mugs got broken (Aha! That's my sister!).

Anyway, the at-home feeling came back slowly and we settled in.   But what didn't come back was how the weather felt.   Egads, it's cold!!

So Moe n I broke out a couple of our long-unused sweaters, and made plans to pick a nice n wooly sweater ensemble for work the following day.   But why was it so friggin cold all of a sudden?   I checked the thermometer. It was a nice eighty degrees. Eh?

We had a late business lunch with this movie/TV personality & print model yesterday, at a very, very upscale (not to mention expensive) out-of-the-way little restaurant in one of the five-star hotels in the main business district.   She was a very sweet and friendly girl, and had a big fund of funny stories to tell and had most of us giggling and laughing, much to the consternation of her personal assistant, since we were starting to bother the nearby tables.

But what really got us to pay attention was that she was drop-dead gorgeous. As in REALLY drop-dead gorgeous.

Was I jealous? Nahhh...

I am a second-generation Italian-American (well, one-half of me is), and I am sure that those of you who have Italian roots and celebrate Easter in the traditional way, you'll know that the big deal thing is (aside from the morning High Mass) is lunch.   Lasagna, hard-boiled eggs and green salad with asparagus (or salads with tuna), and then roast beef and lamb and roast potatoes, and for dessert - sweet Easter bread and chocolate eggs, and then ending with an espresso or a nice cappucino.

But, of course, none of that for me this time as I'm not at home. Darn...

The stereotypical image we have of summer (and it's most definitely summer here - ninety degrees, can you believe it?) is a sumer spent mostly at the beach.   But some girls - girls like me - don't look at time at the beach as a stereotypical summer - lying in the sun, lounging around and working on their tans.   But, being "a stranger in a strange land," I felt anonymous enough that I thought I could do some of that without any of the consequences.   We planned on going to the beach this afternoon.
