'32 trans people killed this year.'

'At least 32 transgender and non-binary people have been killed in the US this year, the Human Rights Campaign said yesterday in its annual report.

America's largest LGBT political lobbying organisation found that transgender people of colour made up 81% of known victims, with more than half (59%) of victims being black. Trans women accounted for 81% of the deaths.

The report said the number of fatalities was likely to be an underestimate because deaths of trans people often go unreported or victims are misgendered.' (Associated Press)

If you can, but have not yet ...

If you are here, it's because you want to be here.

For you to "Be Here", Big Closet also has to "Be Here".

The only reason BCTS is 'on the net', is because every month, enough people 'cough up' enough money to pay for everything.

And our Admins and core people are way too close to 'coughing up blood'. Every month.

Please think about what BCTS is worth to you.

The Mods of BigCloset

I feel like a lot of people around here expect a lot of the moderation and maintenance staff here at BCTS, but that they don't tend to get nearly enough recognition for all the hard work they do.

As such, I would like to take a moment to list them all, so we can all show each of them the love they deserve.

Ohhh...ryctolagus

The end of supermarket copycat items could be in sight after a bombshell decision by a Swiss court over Lidl's knock-off chocolate bunnies.

The Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland ruled that Lidl's chocolate bunnies wrapped in aluminium foil, whether 'golden or of another colour', were too similar to Lindt's.

It banned the chain's Swiss branches Lidl Schweiz and Lidl Schweiz DL from selling similar bunnies and ordered the destruction of any still in stock.

Medical coding system leaves trans patients struggling to pay for care

I'm sure there are many people on our site that are impacted by what this newspaper article lays out. Perhaps reading this article will help in dealing with medical/insurance denial of benefits. Being blind sided by insurance issues & procedures can be horrible.

Madness of soaring energy costs in the UK

I know this is not a "trans" issue. It will however affect a great many trans people, as often transitioning can lessen job prospects and wealth.

The energy price cap goes up again by 80% from 1 October for 24 million people in England, Scotland and Wales.

If you’re on a default tariff and pay by direct debit, your bills will increase by £1,578 a year to £3,549. If you’re a prepayment customer, your payments will rise by £1,591 a year to £3,608.

Female snooker star calls for trans competitors to be banned from the sport after Jamie Hunter's win

I really don't understand how a trans woman has the advantage over a Cis woman in snooker. What next? Chess? Poker?

Former World No 1 Maria Catalano, cousin of reigning snooker champion Ronnie O'Sullivan, insists Hunter's involvement in women's matches is unfair,

She says

'There is a reason they started a women's tour. Reanne Evans is the best woman player I have ever seen and even she can't crack it against the men.'

Catalano added that she may even be forced to pull out from competing in the game herself.

The Best Place on the Internet

BCTS is probably the most important constant in my life.

Some might consider that hyperbole... but in so many ways, it's 100 percent true.

Without the community this site has provided, the outlet for both creativity and pain, the *outreach* it has allowed me... I wouldn't be here today.

Without the wonderful people here, who are so incredibly generous in so many ways, and the love and support they have given me, that I have done my best to return in kind, but know I can never truly match... I wouldn't be here today.

Without Erin.

Without Angie.

Trans Hate Crimes

In the UK, the Transgender Community is the most targeted group in LGBT+ community as a whole.

Apparently, In 2020/2021, 2,630 Hate Crimes against transgender people were recorded by the Police. Although it is thought that 88% of transgender people did not report hate crimes.

I can understand it being unreported. If you try to live a quite life, everything will be dragged out for all to see.

Is this true? Does this still happen to trans people?
