Disney or hunting down fairy godmothers

Hey Everyone. Here is fair warning I'm going to be out of contact for a while. Understanding Spouse has scored some Disney World tickets so we're off to the Magic Kingdom. While there I hope to corner that fairy godmother of mine. She has some s'plaining to do! :) Just a Swhish and flick and everything will be right as rain! ;) Look for next weekend or so. The recovery might take awhile.

Wings of the Butterfly!: The Trailer.

This is not a full story. It is thoughts for a new one presented in a somewhat different fashion. I had a story idea while up to my armpits in another. Instead of writing an outline to preserve the basics, because of all the summer blockbusters trailers I've seen lately I decided to try and do it in a movie trailer style.

Reckoning -1- Awakenings 1 and 2

The Earth has reached a crossroad. Destruction could be immanent. Can a Rookie band of newly created heroes stave off Doomsday? Chapter 1 of a collaborative effort by several Top Shelf writers will begin to explore this dilemma. Introduction of the heroes and their powers will be the first couple of chapters. Writers are: Catherine Linda Michel, Grover, Ariel Strickland, Erin Halfelven, Maggie Finson and Scotty, "Voice Of Reason" Bishop.

The Maid

I giggled as I raised the spinning mower blade all the way up and put it into forward. In front of me the Gardener laid vainly trying to roll out of the way. He wouldn’t make it. Absolutely amazing the poisons found in ordinary household products.

It's a Miricle!

Hey everyone! We made it to Florida in one piece. Tomorrow comes opening the truck up and see how much of our stuff survived! Surprisingly a laptop we thought out of order was able to connect us. This is good! Being able to reach out to the community has always been my lifeline.

Hugs
Grover and Understanding Spouse :)

Black out

Well this is it. We're in the final stages of moving. I get the truck today and when we get that sucker packed it's hit the road time. The internet is due to be cut off any time now, and I don't know when we're get everything connected back up and online again. Hopefully not too long. Writing of course has taken second fiddle to the more immediate concerns of real life. I will do my best not to kill too many good story ideas by telling them to myself on the trip. There's that delicious zone of where the tale is unfolding that's like riding a wave.

On the road again

Well, Supergirl is over. Long live Ms. Marvel! This got a better reception than I hoped, but there is going to be a long lapse before there is more. Understanding Spouse and I are heading to check out the Tampa Bay area before moving there next month. The usual turmoil of such things will make any writing I do very problematic. This also means if I'm out of contact for a few days, don't worry everything is fine! I should be back online Monday at the latest, but will be up to my neck in sorting, packing and arranging for things to hopefully go smoothly.

Happy Feasting Day!

Canon and I'm Not Supergirl

I wrote this first as a comment but thought it worthwhile to repeat in a blog.
Like I've said before there are elements in 'I'm Not Supergirl' that just doesn't fit into the canon universe. Additionally someone else has the canon rights to that character. Other characters are also going to appear that others have also claimed prior to me. The biggest reason for this is that I write too cotton-picking slow!

I'm not Supergirl.

After so long, I finally finished my Retcon fanfic. I always knew it would end up fanfic because Lilith stated that the Man or Maid of Steel would not be making an appearance. However, I had an idea I thought was interesting and fun. I just wanted to have a little fun with the concept and run with it. Things got crazy when others finished theirs way, way before I did and helped shaped the Retcon universe. That caused me all kinds of problems until I managed to work my way around it. In the end, I finished and I'm rather happy with it.

Wouldn't you know it!

Wouldn't you know it! Now that I've finally got stuff to post and am being productive again, here comes a disruption, A Really Big One. Understanding Spouse has been transfered from Columbia SC to Clearwater Fl. There's not a pay increase but they are picking a large chunk of the moving cost. Additionally, there has been talk of closing the office here in Columbia anyways. Better a job in Fl. than unemployed in SC if you know what I mean. Plus the standard of living is about the same or so I'm assured by the web.

Alone: The Series!

I swore I would never write a serial. After posting my first novel in parts just as soon as I finished them, I decided that method just didn't work for me. If I wanted to go back and changed something due to the way the story was currently developing, whoops sorry! So what am I doing? Writing Alone. Honestly I never intended on there being any additional chapters, but a few of the comments got me thinking. My muse whispered seductive clues in my ear and the next I know there's an 'Alone2' and an 'Alone3' I might add.

Alone 2: The walk

Walking down those steps, of the little house that'd been my sanctuary, was one of the hardest things I'd ever done. It didn't help that I was naked as the day I was born either. The aliens didn’t wear clothes although Doc wondered if that would change when the weather got colder. Scouts had seen some wearing protective garments when it made sense to. They simply didn't seem to care to be clothed otherwise.

Can you read my mind?

This week I've really been out of it, but I wanted to post the two stories I had ready. Knight and Dragon to BCTS and Spinning to StarDust. However, like I said I've been ill and actually messed up the title to my own story. LOL! I posted it as Dragon and Knight instead of Knight and Dragon. Even that wasn't the original title because someone else posted a St. George and the Dragon tale. The two stories are very different but I changed mine because I like all authors want to be remembered and unique. Then working on my Voodun story, I saw someone had posted one with that in the title too!

Dragon and Knight

Into the jaws of death the Knight rode. Before him, the early morning fog lingered over the burnt remains of the entrance to the vale. There no signs that once a village had prospered within those borders.

“Might I ask what you think you’re doing?” A voice out of nowhere rumbled like thunder.

Thanks and comments

This is an apology to all those who commented on my story Alone. Normally, I try to give everyone a PM or a comment in reply. However right now, real life is being a real bear with coming down with a cold, and the usual bumps in the road of bad fortune. Like all authors I regard each one like they were gold, but right now I'm really out of it.
Big Hugs to everyone and I promise to get to those thank yous when I can.

Knight and Dragon

Hello! I've posted 'No Man's Hand' here at BCTS, and have another new story up at StarDust. As usual I'll give it a week there before moving it over. It's named 'Knight and Dragon' and although it is also features a Dragon, the two stories aren't related. This latest tale let me explore my all time favorite D&D magical item, so please enjoy!

New story on StarDust

Hi everyone! I have a new story up at StarDust. As usual, I'll leave it there for about a week before bringing it to BCTS. It's named 'No Man's Hand.'

Have all you high fantasy fans out there ever wondered about other explanations when it was you read that the Witch-king, demon or whatever the baddie is would not fall "by the hand of man?" I have.

Enjoy!
Hugs!

Looking for Story

A while back someone posted a story that had SF and Transformations. It started off with a scientist accepting applications for a trial study using a type of gene therapy. One of those applicants was his old college roommate who was very brilliant, but was crippled by disease and genetic disorders. As a matter of fact all the study's subjects had severe problems and health issues.

Computer Problems.... again!

I'm having computer problems again. Once more my romance entry is nearly completed, but may be lost. This is the third time I've had to write parts of it over again due to virus's, and this time a POST problem. Just as bad, LL's excellent Retcon Star Wars rekindled my muse for my own Retcon story involving Ms Marvel. Tired last night, I shut down without backing up like I usually do, so all of that may be lost too.

Five Years

As of two hours ago, I've been here at BCTS for Five years. It's been loads of fun and I've made a lot of good friends. I've learned a lot about myself. I finally let myself be a little more of the real me. Not as easy as it sounds as most of you know. After holding myself apart for so long, it's so very difficult to let go of those things I hidden behind. Most of my stories has gotten a good response even if not blockbusters, well, by BC standards. A few has gotten very good welcomes, and I'll be lying if I said it didn't feel good.

RIP Jeffrey Catherine Jones

Yesterday Jeffrey Catherine Jones died. She was an artist who transitioned in 1990. Frank Frazetta once called her the worlds greatest living painter.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Jones_%28artist%29

Perhaps like me the name didn't ring any bells, but once I searched out some of her work I recognized them immediately. So many of the paperback covers of fantasy tales I read back in the 70's had her name on them. Also she was one of the artists that made National Lampoon such a hit in its hey day. A truly remarkable person.

Rest easy.

More than a few have racial or gender changes. I know that it's supposed to illustrate how there's a little of the hero in all of us, but I can dream! :) Some are very good.

Why would I paint my son's nails?

Last week J. Crew caused some controversy with an Ad they ran portraying a mother painting her son's toenails pink. One of the commenters stated/asked "Why would I paint my son's nails?" I couldn't help myself, but answer them with a story.

Good Morning all! I'm posting this for Understanding Spouse. She's a rabid fan of a site called "Sleep Talking Man" It's a wife who posts the crazy things her Hubby says in his sleep. Todays has a few interesting items she thought the girls here might enjoy. Here's the link!
