How Boys Get Made

I was chatting with my older daughter (who also has a quirky sense of humor)... And, the following came up in the conversation:

Your ovaries took a wrong left turn back in the second trimester. They're on their way back, but they got lost in this odd little testosterone-filled sack...

Then, she went on and explained how it happened:

Transitioning?

I started this blog as a response to commentator's Blog, in response to a bit in Bobbie C's blog. Just as commentator felt her response belonged in its own blog, so did I. I was struck by commentator's comment that GCS isn't a 'cure-all'. This matches some of my thoughts as well. But, before I will talk about them, I think I need to provide some background so you can see where I'm coming from.

A Bedtime Story - 2

By: Annette MacGregor

This is a continuation of Bedtime Story Several people asked for more, but that's not why this was written. The little bit there got me thinking. And, I figured I might try putting together a more complete story, that explains how that story came to be. This is the beginning of that effort. Some parts will be light and happy, but I fear some will be darker. I hope you enjoy.

Hayfield Hall: Interlude-04

By: Annette MacGregor & Karen Page

As seen in A New Style of Education (in July of 2005) Rachel Ruiz is the Head of the Support Staff, and the previous year (as seen in Hidden Gifts), Kate Mayhew was head. What happened? Another staff change occurred at the same time. Dr. Sue only recently became the primary internist for the school. What happened to cause this change? Did something happen last year to cause this staff change? Was the change voluntary? I wrote this interlude to rationalize, in my mind, why some people in important positions might leave without jeopardizing the school — And, in the case of Rachel, lay the groundwork (in my mind) for why they recruited a new Head, rather than promoted from within.

Discouraging

I've come to realize that what many authors have said, many time, really is true. It's a lot more work to write a story than to read it. "Real Life" can intrude on time to write, as can other literary commitments. Nice encouraging comments, or comments that point out perceived flaws, but include suggestions on how to rectify them, are greatly appreciated.

However, seeing a comment or PM that basically says "yeah, you posted something, but when will you get back to the other bit" is very disheartening.

Hayfield Hall: Interlude-02

By: Annette MacGregor & Karen Page

Since first reading the stories about Hayfield Hall, questions have been there about where the staff came from, how they are selected, and other similar points. One example is Dr. Rachel Ruiz. We know she was NOT staff at the school in 2004 and that Kate Mayhew held her position, but by the beginning of A New Style of Education, Dr. Ruiz was established. This interlude doesn't describe how that came to pass, but it does address some of the questions, at least in part. Originally written half in jest, this interlude is included for those readers that may have also had some of these questions.

So much has happened in two years...

It's hard to believe, but just over two years ago, I posted my first "segment" of Who Was I. I believe my writing's improved a more than a little bit over the course of that time (though, you don't see this, as you generally only see stuff that have been edited). I pity those editors, but I also really appreciate them.

Some students seem to build friendships irrespective of age, or year. David/Jayne and Dan/Sophia are two that have done this more than once in the stories. How did these two meet for the first time?

Hayfield Hall: Interludes

By: Annette MacGregor & Karen Page

More goes on in and around Hayfield Hall than is possible to cover in A New Style of Education (NE) or A New Style of Education: Hidden Gifts (HG). This page starts a series of independent story segments of various lengths that expand upon what is contained in the main story lines.

I happened to be looking...

I happened to be looking at my story list (in the forlorn hope of seeing a comment on my stale postings), and noticed, to my great surprise, that "The Reluctant Bridesmaid" (part 1) had surpassed five thousand reads. This was, by far, my most popular story, but to be honest, I really never expected it to do so well.

Have I reached a milestone?

I received my first Victoria's Secret bra today (38A - no not many to choose from)... And, it fit like a glove. :-) Far more comfortable than the playtex I'd gotten a few months ago. LOL And, nicer than the sports bras I normally wear (when my alter ego is off to the salt mines)...

The blouse I ordered with the bra will be on it's way back. Not what was pictured (color wise) it made me look very ill! Though it was very comfortable otherwise. *sighs* Back to the drawing board there.

It explains so much.

A friend pointed out this link on another site. It explains so much in the movie Star Wars. I hope any Star Wars fans out there enjoy this as much as I did. Star Wars Explained. (While you're at it, go watch George Lucas in Love. It explains a lot as well... Story has it that Mr Lucas enjoyed this video.)

A New Style of Education: Hidden Gifts

By: Annette MacGregor

An authorized story, based on the characters and environment of A New Style of Education by Karen Page.

In the last segment, Sophia was leaving Dr. Bill's office and ran into Dan as he was heading toward his office. Dan invited Sophia to join him in his office for a short chat. And now, the story continues...

Hidden Gifts - NOT Abandoned

For some reason (that is beyond my understanding) several people seem to have gotten the mistaken idea that I've abandoned this story. This couldn't be further from the truth. I do admit to falling way behind where I expected to be, but it's far from abandoned. (1st draft of Chapter 13 is complete, and 14 has been started - barely). (Historically, once I get a chapter close to where I want it, it generally takes two weeks to get through my four overworked editors and finally get into a shape where I can consider posting it. Sorry, but that's just what it takes, even with e-mail.
