Balthasar's Extract - Part IV

Evelyn Westcott's Turn of the Century Diary

It was an age of new things — the automobile, the aero- plane, social consciousness, moving pictures, mental hygiene and ragtime. Women were dumping the corset and demanding the vote, kicking over the pedestals upon which Victorian Sensibility had placed them. A time of creativity and experimentation in the natural sciences, of rapidly growing comprehension of how 'internal secretions' regulated human physiology. Our heroine, Evelyn Westcott, born Edward Tucker, is now seventeen and in the full bloom of youth. She and her friends are awakening to social injustice and sensual pleasures, spreading their wings, setting forth to conquer the widening world.

My figure, its shape, was pure Valerie... except for one part, which was embarrassingly evident.
The doctor stood, watching me, and then slowly pulled the mask from her face. "Hello, lover, it seems you're all developed now."

Dedicated with love to "Kitten" 'MO' you know who you are!

This is a story of a child most nobody wanted! Not his Father, nor siblings. A child that in all rights, should have died at birth. The only thing that kept him alive was his Mother's love, the friendship of his sister Patty, and the love from the Sisters at his school and church. Most of you will not like this story because it contains humiliation, diapers(but not in a sexual way), and yes the reference to God our creator and Jesus our Savior. Most of you won't like this story because it makes you uncomfortable. But when I read it, all I can say is: “There but for the grace of god go I.” And then I cry with a sadness in my heart, for the way we as human beings treat everything that we don't or will not understand because it does, make us uncomfortable.

Don's Response

Don's Response

Synopsis: Just prior to Jezzi's story Darling Dainty Donna and the family ganging up on Don for being mean to Bobbi I thought this story could be inserted instead. There is no meanness, no underhanded ploys, just a boy reaching out for answers from a family that he feels he has lost.........

Coulda Been... Yet Again

Another fantasy, and it looks like dedications are gonna be the norm for these. I think these pieces are helping me, but writing them is really painful. I sat sobbing for a good two hours halfway through this one, and if you want to see the real story of what happened, it's in my blog on here. I'm not going to link to it, it's easy enough to find.

Note: This is dedicated to the memory of Michael Andrew Galyen.
My baby brother.
18 March 1991 - 12 September 2007.

This didn't happen. The real story is much more painful, but really... this is what might have been in different circumstances. There's a kernel of what really happened here, but...

Coulda Been... Another Time

Third one of these. I'm definitely enjoying writing them, as it's always better to think of pleasant things. A fantasy of what might have been if events had allowed, this one set between the first two installments. Another dedication in this one, too, maybe I should go back and dedicate the first one to my mother...

Coulda Been... Too

So, it looks like there'll be more of these. I don't think any of them will be easy for me to write, but I'm finding them oddly... cathartic. Cleansing, even. Another fantasy of how things could have gone. If I write more, they won't be in chronological order.

Coulda Been...

Alright... the idea behind this is thinking back on how things have happened in my life badly. This is, on a basic level, I guess, my fantasy of how things could have gone. This was the first such scene in my life that occurred to me to write about. There may be more, but I don't know. This was difficult for me to write. Only about 1000 words, with the intro and title.

Chapter 1

Esther and Grace played with the tea set Albert had set out for them on a small table in the corner of the room. He had placed their tiny table there so he could keep an eye on them as he scrubbed the counters. Al had washed the dishes the two girls had used for dinner, and then he made sure the kitchen sparkled before he gave them his full attention.
