"The remarkable lives on Newark sanitation truck No. 2646"

Here's a very sympathetic story from a major US newspaper about a transgendered sanitation worker. It includes a link to a video.

The newspaper headline:

Sex-change officer recovering after being hurt at checkpoint

Sometimes, I wish the media would just report the news, and not try to sensationalise it. The officer was just doing her job, and her gender status had nothing to do with the incident, afaik.

This story should have been reported as: “Police officer hurt at checkpoint.”

tg case in alberta could be historic

This case of a transgendered teacher here in alberta could end up being historic. Right now, transgendered persons are not protected under our human rights laws. If the courts so choose however, they could "read it in", and force the goverment to change the law, like what happened 10 years ago with gays. Here is hoping thats what happens.

Fired Transgendered teacher fighting back!

A teacher who is transitioning F to M was fired by a school board because "his gender change from woman to man is not aligned with the teachings of the Catholic church or its values." And he's fighting back, using Alberta's human rights act. Going to be interesting seeing how this case ends, because he's fighting the Catholic church.

The Boy in the Dress

Here's an interesting one from the Guardian. It seems that a guy named David Williams has written a children's book titled "The Boy in the Dress." This piece is about a shopping spree with a reporter while he's wearing a frock and having to deal with papparazzi, etc.

LONDON TIMES OBITUARY OF THE LATE MR COMMON SENSE

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who

Rambo Granny!

This was sent to me as an email, sadly the picture didn't copy.
Not sure what I think about it, don't believe in violence, but then she didn't start it. Author unknown.

The Rambo Granny of Melbourne , Australia

Gun-toting granny Ava Estelle, 81, was so ticked-off when two thugs raped her 18-year-old granddaughter that she tracked the unsuspecting ex-cons down - - and shot off their testicles.

The old lady spent a week hunting those men down -- and when she found them, she took revenge on them in her own special way, said Melbournepolice investigator Evan Delp. Then she took a taxi to the nearest police station, laid the gun on the sergeant's desk and told him as calm as could be:
