Story about the daughter of Wolf himself
Amy slowly starts waking up as she feels the Earth beneath her nude body and hands. Her body was hurting all over from being exposed to the desert heat and strong winds. Her nude twelve-year-old body was as red as a lobster after being boiled. She slowly stands up off the ground, hurting with each movement. Pain flares from every joint of her body. Amy had no idea where she was or how she got here. The last thing she remembers was the guy her father worked with at the military base picking her up on her way home from school and giving her bottled water to drink, which tasted funny, and passing out afterward. She remembers waking up later inside a musky operating room tied down on top of an operating table.
The operating room was dirty and had yellow paint peeling off the floor. It smelled musky and was extremely hot like there wasn’t any moving air to cool it down. Amy recalls a guy dressed in a bloody doctor’s coat holding a needle in his hand that had some sort of red liquid inside of it. He stuck her in a vein in her wrist and pushed the liquid inside the needle into her blood. At first, whatever it was that they injected into her made her feel like she was floating on air, and then all of sudden every nerve in her body was on fire. She remembers arching her back off the table as her body tried to break the restraints, they had her secure with. It felt like every nerve ending had been dipped in acid. She felt something huge shoved up inside her body from between her legs. She remembers screaming from the pain from the force used to shove it into her small body.
She was feeling extreme pain from the drug they were using on her and from the huge object shoved up into her body pumping the same sort of liquid into her small body.
Metal clamps were slapped around her petite wrist as needles inside the clamps pierced her skin and went directly into her veins. More clamps were fastened around her ankles and a plastic tube was shoved down her throat, till it hit her stomach, and the liquid was pumped into her stomach. A metal choker with needles was fastened around her small neck and more of the same liquid was sent into her blood. It felt like she was being burned from the inside out.
The object that had been shoved up into her small body was expanding, tearing her open. She tried to scream, but the tube in her throat prevented that as the liquid was continuously being pumped into her body. She felt someone grab her other hand and stick a needle in the same place that they had done the other one. She felt whatever it was that they gave her go into her body and the next thing she knew was that she was so high, that she wasn’t feeling anything or seeing anything. The last thing she remembered before darkness claimed her, was a huge needle plunged into her heart.
Amy woke up a few times suspended in the air with tubes connected to every joint and pressure point on her body. There was a metal band that went around her head and she could feel pressure from it as they pumped the same liquid they used everywhere else on her body into her head as well. All she knew was that days had gone by and she was kept high as a kite. Each day her body was pumped full of drugs and drained and repeated every other day. The liquid inside the needle was always red that they pumped into her and not some other color. After the man came in to monitor her and fondle her some, he would kiss her on the cheek. He told her that she will be his greatest achievement. As he pumps another drug into her, which causes her to pass out. Just before she blacks out, she hears the machines she is connected to go off and her body starts shaking violently. She goes limp as death came for her, someone saying she was dead. As her heart stops and she slips into unconsciousness.
Amy looks around for some sense of direction to go but finds nothing that is helpful. She just starts walking north away from where she woke up. She had no idea where she was or how to get out of where she was, but she felt something urging her to go in a direction. Every step she took hurt her feet and the wind that was blowing, blew sand into places there shouldn’t be. She had nothing to cover up her body. She was still hurting in her joints and she felt extremely feverish. All she knew was that something wanted her to come the way she was walking.
As Amy is stumbling along, trying to stay upright as her feet hurt. She notices a pitch-black color wolf come up to her. It stops near her and looks at her. She stands still wondering if it was going to hurt her. He comes closer to her and sniffs her. It stops and sits back on its haunches looking at her with its head tilted to one side. Amy makes eye contact with it and notices that its eyes were very blue like the sky was on a clear day. They weren’t the color of a wolf or animal.
As Amy stares into the wolf's eyes she felt something or someone probing her thoughts. She had never felt anything like this before. It was a little frightening, but she wasn’t scared as it was being done to her.
~” Come with me pup of mine.”~ Wolf looks at the girl child the white men had used his blood on. They had managed to trap him with their strange magic and then take his blood from his body and injected it into this girl child he has been looking for since his escape. He could sense the changes it was making to this girl child. One that he has already come upon was that her scent smelled of a Wolf-like himself, not like a human girl.
He could feel her spirit now that the wolf essence that was part of him was now part of her. He could feel the magic that course throughout this body, now doing the same thing to her as well.
Amy wonders how the Wolf was speaking to her inside her head.
“Am I dead?” Amy wasn’t sure anymore about herself.
“No child, you are not dead yet. However, you were dead earlier. Your body was dead for several days, but your spirit refused to leave your body and go to the great hunting grounds. You have become one with my spirit now, because of what the men who kidnapped you have done to your body. Your blood is my blood and your spirit is part of me now. Now come with me so I can take care of you.” Wolf exerts some of his will on Amy.
Amy felt Wolf’s words as she starts walking behind him. She had no choice, but to do as he tells her. Amy’s head starts hurting her bad. The pain felt like someone was squeezing her head in a vise. Her eyesight starts to become blurry.
“Wolf sir, my head hurts bad, it’s pounding in time with my heart.” Amy kept following behind Wolf.
Wolf could feel the girl child's headache as well. He uses a touch of his magic to ease her pain. He could feel the connection between himself and Amy becoming strong.
“You should feel better now, pup” Wolf looks back over his shoulder at Amy.
“Thank you, sir. Sir, will you help me return to my parents, please? I know they are worried about me and I would like to go home to them.” Amy missed her parents and wanted to go home.
“Your parents have passed on. The man that kidnapped you sent some men to kill your father and mother. Your father fought bravely, but he was no match for the men sent to him and your mother. It is best if people think you are dead my child. You will no longer be who you use to be.” Wolf could already see the physical changes being done to this girl. His blood was turning her into a Native American child. Her hair color had already begun changing from the curl short brown hair he had first seen on her, to long straight black hair with blue highlights. He already knew she was going to have a dark tan to match her dark hair.
Amy didn’t know what to say as she walked behind him. Tears just slide down her cheeks as she kept following Wolf. She felt that he was telling the truth. That he was being honest to her.
“Wolf, what did those men do to me and why did they do it?” Amy was wondering why her?
“I wish I could answer that question, pup. I did not know that they had plans for my blood, but what they didn’t count on, was you dying and absorbing my blood into your system. Even when they drain your blood to extract my blood from your system, they didn’t count on it staying with you.” Wolf had wondered why they had pumped this girl with the blood they took from him into her.
Amy just sighs as she continues to follow. She looked out into the desert and notice that they had come to a mountain pass. She follows behind Wolf as he leads her through a maze of twists and turns. Some of the passages were only big enough for her to crawl through on her hands and knees. Once they came out of the passage Wolf took her through, she saw a beautiful waterfall and a large pool of clear water.
“Go and take care of yourself, pup. I will return later with food and clothes for you. Do not leave this area for any reason. If you do leave without me here, you’ll never find it again. So, stay here and wait for my return.” Wolf just looks at Amy as he mentally tells her this.
Amy looks at Wolf and then at the pool of crystal clear water and the waterfall. There was an area for her to sit or lay on the rocks near the waterfall and shade to protect her sun-burned skin.
“Yes sir.” Amy starts walking towards the pool of water.
Wolf watches as his pup now walks towards the pool. He was going to need to bring her food, clothes, and other times to make her life easy here. He’ll have to bring someone he trusts back to teach her and watch over her. He watches as she walks down the stone steps into the pool and then leaves the same way they had come.
Amy finds the naturally made stone steps at the pool edge that leads down into the water. She follows them down into the cool water, which felt nice against her sunburned skin. Amy submerges her entire body in the water and lets the coolness of the lake cool her sunburned skin. When she looks back to see where Wolf was, she didn’t see him. She wonders where he was off too. She takes a sip of the water and swishes it around in her dry mouth. She spits it out outside of the pool. She didn’t want to contaminate the water any more than she was doing now. She swims towards the waterfall and gets out of the pool to stand under it to let it wash off all the dirt and sand that had blown into places on her body. The cool water felt nice against her poor skin.
When Amy is done cleaning herself, she relaxes on a rock covered with soft moss and just lies there staring up at the sky. She spots an Eagle flying overhead her.
Dan Two Elk was loading his pick-up truck with feed for his horses when he felt a familiar presence near him. He stops loading his truck and looks around and notices a rather large pitch-black color wolf looking at him. Dan knew right away who and what the wolf was. It was Wolf himself, his totem spirit.
“What can I do for you, Wonvertu?” Dan just smiles and watches the wolf. Dan used the Navajo name for Wolf, instead of just calling him Wolf.
“I require your help. There is a pup of mine that is going to need your guidance and training. She has suffered a lot and will have a difficult time adjusting to what she is now. I’m placing her education and safety in your hands.” Wolf knew Dan would be a good teacher for the girl child. He had seen him help so many lost and troubled children get back on the right path.
Dan’s guidance and patience would be good for his daughter now. Wolf couldn’t believe now he has a daughter of his blood. It has been centuries since he has had a child of his blood that was human and tied him to the mortal world.
Dan couldn’t believe that Wonvertu was asking him to guide and look after a child of his blood.
“What is her name and where is she?” Dan had rested against his truck while he was talking with Wonvertu.
“Her name is Amy Red Wolf and she is at the waterfall I took you to two moons ago. She’s to remain near there for seven full moons. She may leave the waterfall area to hunt and learn, but she must return there when she can. She isn’t prepared for the path upon which she has been placed.” Wolf wanted to give his daughter time to learn about herself first and then let her start on her path to avenge her family. He also knew that there were other supernatural creatures in the area that might try to take advantage of her innocents.
Dan mentally puts together items he’ll need to take with him. He was familiar with where the waterfall was and knew the only way to get where Wolf’s daughter is, was by horseback. There was no way you were going to get a vehicle or even a four-wheeler to that location. You might get halfway, but you’ll have to go the rest of the way on foot.
“What does she have already?” Dan was wondering what he should bring with him for her.
“Nothing, she’ll need clothes and moccasins to wear. Teach her how to cook the old fashion way, before introducing her to any modern ways. There is a huge boar sounder nearby that you can hunt down and kill for food for her and you.” Wolf figures it would be good to trim the boar population down some.
“I know the sounder you are talking about. They have been destroying some of the farmer’s crops around here.” Dan figures a good boar hunt would be a good way to teach Wolf’s daughter how to track animals.
“I’ll have to make arrangements before I head over towards your daughter. I’ll make sure she is kept safe and properly taught.” Dan figures he could spend time between the waterfall and his ranch. His brother and sisters-in-law could handle the ranch while he is gone.
“I’ll be stopping by to check on her progress. Remember, she’s to return to the waterfall every night, when you can. She is safe there from other creatures around here, till she can care for herself.”
“I wouldn’t expect any less from you. I’ll be sure to let her know.” Dan watches as Wolf walks off back into the desert.
He gets into his truck and notices a package he hadn’t seen before lying on his front seat. There were a few more items back at his home that he knew would fit the girl. Wolf had given him a mental image of her and her sizes. When Dan arrives back at his home, he gets one of his brothers to help him unload the feed and get a horse ready to ride out to the waterfall. He heads inside his house and pulls his backpack out of the closet and puts everything he was going to need in it.
Dan figures that he could spend a few days with her right now, but past that he’ll have to come back here to the ranch. He had an appointment with the Pow Wow committee at the end of the week. Not to mention, a men’s sweat lodge he needed to go to. He was filling in for Robert Night Cloud because he had another appointment that day.
Rebecca had seen her brother-in-law Dan come in and unload his truck with the feed they needed for the horses. She also notices that he had gotten his horse and saddled him up as well. She had seen him put his saddlebags and hunting rifle on his horse. She had watched as he headed into the house. She walks over to the house and heads inside. Rebecca could hear Dan moving around in his bedroom. She had walked up to the door and looked in and saw him packing his gear and a few articles of clothing for a girl in his old Army backpack.
So, who’s the girl you’re going to help?” Rebecca watches as Dan turns quickly around towards her.
Dan hadn’t even heard his sister-in-law until she spoke to him. He turns around and looks at her.
“She’s a girl that Wolf found and wants me to help her.” Dan wasn’t about to tell his sister-in-law that she was Wolf’s daughter.
“Why don’t you bring her back here to the ranch? We can all help you with her.” Rebecca couldn’t figure out why Dan was packing his camping gear.
“Wolf wants me to train her where she is for a while. He feels that she isn’t ready to be around other people right now.” Dan closes his backpack up as he lifts it off his bed.
Rebecca couldn’t figure out why a girl would need to be separated away from other people for a while. What reason did Wolf have?
She looks past Dan towards the window behind him and could tell that night would be coming soon.
“Let me fix a basket for both of you to take. Also, do you know how tall or what sizes she wears?” Rebecca had a few items she could send with Dan for the girl.
“Okay, and yes I do know what sizes she is,” Dan tells his sister-in-law Amy’s sizes.
Rebecca turns around and heads toward her bedroom to retrieve some clothes for the girl. She had a few items left over from their last visit that would fit the girl. She grabs a pair of cowboy boots that someone with Amy’s feet size could wear. She heads back into the living room where Dan was waiting for her and gives the items to him.
Dan takes the items Rebecca gives him out to his horse and packs them away. He double-checks everything and then heads back inside to see if Rebecca had finished packing a basket for him to take with him.
Rebecca had just finished packing the basket with food when Dan comes walking into the kitchen.
She looks up as he comes walking in “I’ve packed about two days’ worth of food in here for you and whoever this girl is. So, you should be okay for two days. I also packed some coffee beans for you, since I know how much you love your coffee. Just remember to bring my basket back with you.”
“I promise too, Rebecca.” He walks over and hugs her. He steps back and looks into her brown eyes.
“I shouldn’t be gone long. I promise to be back by this weekend and no, she won’t be coming with me. Wolf made that very clear. He wants her to stay where she is for at least seven full moons.” Dan didn’t know why, but he would do as he was instructed to.
“I wonder why?” Rebecca had this puzzled look on her face as well.
“Who knows? All I do know is that she needs my help and that she needs to learn about herself. Wolf feels I can do that for her, so I am going to do my best to help her.” Dan didn’t mind helping this poor girl he was being sent to.
“Well, I hope things go well, and remember, she is always welcome here at the ranch.” Rebecca wouldn’t mind having a visitor here to help her.
“I know. Well, I better be off if I want to get there before night comes.” He hugs Rebecca one more time and heads out to his horse and rides off away from the ranch.
By the time Dan gets to where the waterfall is and follows the hidden passage through mountain cervices to the waterfall, night had fallen. It was pitch black by the time he emerged from the passage. When he enters the pool area, he notices a young petite nude young girl with long black hair that covered part of her second-degree sunburn body sounds asleep on a mat of soft moss. There were two huge Golden Eagles standing sentry over her sleeping form from outcrops near her.
The Golden Eagles look down at the stranger that had just emerged from the entrance to the pool area. They had been sent to watch over Wolf’s daughter as she slept, till her mentor got here. They had watched as she slowly fell asleep on the mat of moss near the water. They were instructed that once Dan Two Elk arrived to go ahead and leave her in his care. They knew Dan’s reputation. Both lift their wings in unison and take off into the night sky. They fly off towards their home for the night.
Dan watches as the two Golden Eagles fly off from the pool oasis. He looks back down at the young girl as she slept on the moss. She looked so innocent and fragile. He could see small marks that looked to have been caused by needles all over her sunburned body and neck. He wonders if he should let her sleep or wake her.
“I’ll wake her for you, Dan.” Wolf comes walking out of the shadow near Dan.
Wolf walks over to Amy’s sleeping form and nudges her with his wet nose.
“Amy, wake up. Your mentor is here and he has food and clothes for you.” Wolf sends a little bit of magic towards Amy to wake her.
Amy slowly opens her eyes and see’s the black wolf next to her. She wraps her arms around his neck and hugs him. When she releases her arms from around his neck, she notices a man that looked like he was Native American with a chiseled face standing near her. He was tall and muscular like some of the wrestlers on television. He was wearing a dark blue western-style shirt, dusty blue jeans, and a pair of dark brown cowboy boots. She notices that the belt buckle at his waist was silver and was in the shape of a circle with a horse head on it. A black cowboy hat with a brown strip going around it rested on his head. His long black hair was braided and had feathers hanging from it. He looked to be older than her father by several years. His eyes were directed at her and watched her like her father used to watch her.
Dan examines the girl as he stood a few feet from her. He could see fear in her eyes and on her face. Her eyes were holding his attention. They were the color of the sky on a clear day. You could see how blue they were and how they made her eyes stand out. Her face was soft and fine.
She looked like an Angel with Native American features. She looked to be a pre-teen and small for her age group. Her petite body made her look even younger than she was.
Wolf senses how scared and frightened Amy was.
“You can trust this one Amy. He means you no harm and will watch after you as if you were his child. His name is Dan Two Elk and he will be your teacher till you are ready to leave here. There is so much that you need to be prepared for and he is the best person to teach you.”
“Why can’t you teach me?” Amy looked into Wolf’s blue eyes.
“Because I can’t. You need to learn how to interact with normal and supernatural people. You’re different now, because of my blood flowing inside of you. Dan Two Elk will be able to help you adjust to things you’ll learn about yourself now. I want you to obey him and do everything he tells you to do. I will stop in once in a while to check on your progress and see how you are handling the changes done to you.” Wolf licks her cheek.
Dan kept quiet as he watched the two of them. He heard everything that Wolf said to Amy and could feel her relax around him.
Amy runs as fast as she could with three huge hogs chasing her. Blood was running down her leg where one of them had gorged her. She had been tracking them as Dan Two Elk had shown her and she wanted to kill one and bring it back to prove to him she could do it. She almost had the leader of the sound, when another one come out of nowhere and gorged her on her right leg. Now she was running for her life from them. She didn’t care, because she was leading them to a trap she had set. She wanted the biggest one for her trophy.
Amy spots the rocks she had set up to let her know where her pit was that she had dug and put spears in. She spots her pit and puts a little more energy into running. She could feel the hot breath of the lead hog on her heels. She jumps at the last minute as she comes to the edge of the covered pit. Amy hears squeals behind her as the hogs that were chasing her fall into the pit to their deaths. She stops running and turns around to head back towards the pit. She looks down inside the pit and spots all three hogs bleeding from the spear that they had fallen on. She waits till they stop moving before climbing down into the pit to retrieve the bodies.
She discovered after her first week here that she could carry a full-grown hog with no problem. She had inherited everything Wolf himself had. Dan told her that she would be classified as a supernatural creature, because of the blood transfusion the men in the white lab coats had done to her. She had died because Wolf’s blood was too powerful for her human form to handle. Even Wolf himself had said that she had died and had been left out in the desert for the coyotes and blizzards to eat. The only reason she hadn’t continued to the Great Hunting grounds, was because Wolf’s spirit was keeping her anchor here. Somehow their two spirits had merged and now she was connected to him as if he had helped create her. She was considered his child and anchor now to the mortal world. The benefits she got from him made her a supernatural creature. That is why Wolf had said she couldn’t leave the oasis till she learned how to manage her newly acquired abilities. She also learned that when Dan wasn’t around, she had two large golden eagles around to protect her. Cougars and other predators in the area avoided her. The reason they avoided her, was now she was the biggest predator around.
She had a Wolf form that she discovered last weekend when Wolf came to check on her. He showed her how to change into her four-footed form. She could turn into a red wolf that was native to here in Mexico and Texas. Her wolf form was the average size for a female red wolf. Unlike her father, who could assume any type of wolf either in animal form or mixed, she couldn’t. Wolf showed her that she could walk the spirit world in either her wolf or human form. The first time she went to the spirit world, she was scared. When she went again on her own, it felt natural to her. It was like she belonged there. Wolf did tell her that she was limited to one animal form and that was a red wolf.
She tosses the heaviest of the hogs out first and then followed by the second and third hog. By the time she climbs out she has blood all over her body. She sighs because the last thing she wanted to do later was laundry the old fashion way. She had found another water hole to do her laundry at, away from her main pool of water and waterfall. She drags the three hogs back to the oasis and began treating the meat for later. She gives the two golden eagles protecting her chunks of meat to eat. Dan had told her he had some obligations he had to tend to this weekend. So, she was left on her own to practice what she has learned. She had four changes of clothes and three different pairs of shoes. Dan had brought her a bow to practice with and an ax as well.
She told him that she would practice this weekend while he was gone. She grabs her bow and practice arrows and heads to the area they had set up for throwing knives, and axes and for her to use her bow. She practices the rest of the afternoon and into the night. Wolf wanted her to learn to see in the dark and use her other senses. By the time the moon was high overhead, she stops for the night and relaxes in the pool of water before heading to bed. Just before she lies down, she smells rain in the air and can feel it nearby. She takes the sleeping bag she has been using and places it on a rock cropping that will act as her bed for the night. The rocks above and around her, would protect her and keep her dry. She closes her eyes and lets herself drift off to sleep.
Just as Amy falls asleep, rain comes pouring down from the sky and she can feel where lighting strikes hit the ground across the land. It felt weird to her as she feels each strike. She just lies on her rock outing and watches as the rain forms a curtain in the middle of the oasis. The water from the waterfall increases as well. She slowly closes her eyes and drifts off to sleep.
When Amy wakes-up the next morning, it was still raining. She wraps her blanket around her body and walks over to her fire pit and builds a fire to heat some water for tea to drink. Dan wanted her to drink a special tea he brought her to drink. She was supposed to drink four cups a day and sweeten it with honey. She had a nutty porridge that Dan Two Elk brought her to eat for breakfast. All she had to do with it was add hot water to turn it into porridge. Amy adds a scoop of honey and a few berries she had collected yesterday and eats it. It was still raining, so she takes out a school book that Dan Two Elk gave her and studies it.
“What are you studying my child?” Wolf steps out of the shadows just to the right of Amy.
Amy jumps when she hears Wolf's voice in her head.
“A math book Dan brought me to study. He said I should spend a few hours each day reading either this book or the English book.” Amy turns to face Wolf.
Wolf walks over and looks at the book and then at Amy.
“Do you understand what you are reading?” He already knew the answer to the question because he knew how smart she was.
“Yes sir. It seems to be pretty easy to follow along.” Amy looks at Wolf. She was still amazed at his blue eyes, which her match.
“Wolf are you angry with what those men in the lab coats did to you?” Amy felt angry about what they did to her and didn’t know if Wolf felt the same way.
“Yes, they should have never messed with something they didn’t understand. They were trying to play god and got burned for doing it. There are some things that men aren’t supposed to know. I’m also sorry that you got dragged into this mess. They should have never kidnapped you and used you for this experiment of theirs.” Wolf had killed each one of the men that had captured and tortured him.
“Why did those men choose me? Why was I their choice?” Amy had been wondering why they had picked her for their test.
“Because one of your father’s friends wanted revenge for a promotion your father had gotten over him. He figured that hurting you was a good way to get even with your father. Plus, if you had survived they planned on using your blood to produce other humans like you to use in wars and such.” Wolf knew what the government had planned for Amy. He had interrogated one of the men that had experimented on her.
“So, are they all dead then?” Amy felt cheated. She wanted revenge on the people responsible for what happened to her.
“Yes and no. The ones that experimented on you are dead, but the ones that permitted it to be done aren’t dead. Those are the ones you can go after my child.” Wolf knew where they were and who they were. He was going to prepare Amy to exact her revenge on them. The balance of justice needed to be kept even.
Amy closes the math book and put her arms around Wolf’s neck. She buries her face against the dark fur covering his neck. She wanted revenge for what was done to her.
“Wolf, what happened to my parents? Do they know I am dead?” Amy leans back and looks into Wolf’s eyes. She could do it because she was no threat to him. She was his child.
“Any one that is related to you or know you, think you are dead along with your parents. The police found a badly burned body that matched your description in the ruins of the lab. They had a closed casket funeral for you last week, thinking that the body the police found was yours. Unfortunately, it was a poor runaway that they kidnapped off the street and experimented on. The poor girl burst right into flames as soon as my blood entered her system. Even if they saw you now, they wouldn’t recognize you anymore. My blood has changed you into what you are now.” Wolf didn’t mind Amy looking into his eyes. She could be considered an Alpha among the Werewolf packs that roam the area around here. He knew that there were at least two packs within forty miles of here.
Tears slide down Amy’s cheeks as she cries about her situation. She was hoping to go back to her family, but unfortunately, she now knew she could never go back. Amy had realized how much she had changed when she investigated the pool and saw a different face looking back at her. Everything about her had changed, except her height and stature. She still looked like a little girl. She could easily blend in with a crowd of young Native American girls or even Hispanic girls. Amy continues to cry for a while. She could feel Wolf’s spirit wrap around her letting her know he cared about her feelings.
Wolf just looks at his pup and couldn’t help but feel sorry for someone so young. Still, she needed to get used to her new life.
“How are you doing on you’re learning?” Wolf had been kept up to date by Dan Two Elk.
Amy wipes her tears away as she looks at Wolf “Dan told me I’ve been doing fine in my learning. He said my archery needs a little more work, but everything else is okay.”
“Have you been practicing my pup?” Wolf keeps his eyes on Amy.
“Yes sir. I practice all day yesterday afternoon after I preserved the hogs I capture.” Amy’s wrist still hurt where the bowstring rubbed against her wrist.
“I see.” Wolf had noticed the three hogs his pup had hanging and were being smoked.
“I did them the way Dan showed me. I gave chunks of the meat to my friends and cut the rest for me and left the other two for Dan when he comes back to take to his tribe.” Amy was proud of her handy work.
“I think his tribe will enjoy the gifts you are sending them.” Wolf nudges her.
“You are not alone my pup. I know you have lost a lot and I know you feel alone, but you have me and Dan Two Elk to protect and look after you. I promise within the next four months, you’ll be allowed to leave here and visit places with Dan Two Elks. However, for now, you need to stay here till you learn more about yourself. Your other gifts will be surfacing soon, and you’ll need to learn how to control them.” Wolf gives Amy a lick on her cheek.
“I understand, dad. You don’t mind me calling you dad, do you?” Amy figures that Wolf was her new father now.
“I don’t mind pup but be careful when you do. Others might try to use you against me.” Wolf knew that were all sorts of nasty out in the world that would hurt her to get to him.
“I promise.” Amy knew she needed to be careful.
Amy rests against Wolf’s body and slowly falls asleep listening to his heartbeat. Once Wolf is sure Amy had fallen asleep. He levitates her body over towards her sleeping bag and lay her down carefully. He knew Dan would be by tomorrow to check on her. The other strange wolves in this area have picked up on her scent. He needed for her to continue her training in peace before she was ready to meet the local pack. Wolf walks out of the oasis and disappears into the spirit world.
The rain continued to fall through the roof opening into the pool below. The Golden Eagles that normally watched over Amy were busy with the chunks of meat she gave them. The pool never rose to flood the oasis at all. The extra water disappeared through the underground river under the pool. Night falls as the rain slowly tampers off to just sprinkles. Amy stirs some from nightmares of what was done to her. After a few minutes, she calms down and falls back asleep.
Amy couldn’t believe that Dan dropped her out in the middle of nowhere with only a knife, an empty waterskin, and a compass. He has been training her these past few weeks on how to read the land and the weather. He also taught her how to find food and water out in the desert. He also taught her how to use a compass and showed her how to get back to the cave that Wolf brought her to.
When she went to bed last night, she hadn’t realized that Dan had spiked her food with a sleeping potion strong enough to keep her out. When she woke up, she found herself out in the middle of a desert. There was a note pinned to her clothes that said “Find your way home.”
She looks around like she was taught and finds the tracks Dan tried to cover up. He was good, but all her senses had been enhanced when she became Wolf’s daughter. She follows the tracks, but gets her bearings and in which direction they were heading first.
She follows the tracks and moves quietly. She knew this was a test to make sure she could survive on her own without her father’s help or
Dan’s help. First, she needed to find some water. Because if she knew Dan, he has dropped her a long way, away from her cave.
She manages to find a source of water among a bunch of rocks. She had followed a washout trail and came to a bunch of rocks. She dug down into the ground and water started to fill the hole. She fills her waterskin with the water. When her waterskin was filled, she takes a few sips herself.
Amy moves on after taking a sip of water. She starts following the tracks she found and kept onward. The sun was getting high in the clear sky.
Every so often, she would check the direction she was heading to make sure she was still on track. She was sweating and feeling the heat. The last time she experienced this, is when she was left out to die among a bunch of corpses.
She doesn’t know, how long she has walked, but when the sun starts going down. She stops for the night and builds a small fire. She caught a rattlesnake and ate that for dinner. She lays down on the ground, after placing some alarms to alert her if someone comes near her.
While she is asleep, her spirit leaves her body and appears on a cloudy landscape that resembles the place she is at. As she looks around, she notices that she isn’t alone. There are others with her as she stands looking at them.
An old Native American warrior approaches her. He is wearing old-style warrior attire.
“Come little sister. It is time for your training to begin.”
Throughout the night, Amy learns how to fight from the warrior. She feels every mistake as if she was awake. The warrior teaches her the way how they use to fight. If she makes a mistake while learning. Her physical body feels it.
When morning comes, Amy feels everything she experienced last night. Her body hurts as she gets up off the ground and she couldn’t believe how sore she felt. She dusts herself off, as she takes a sip of the water from her waterskin.
She leaves the area where she camped last night as she found it. She had a feeling that today was going to be rougher than yesterday. She starts walking after finding the tracks from Dan’s truck.
Throughout the day she wishes some clouds would block the sun. It was so clear and there was no shade at all.
When she stops for the night. She was too tired to look for anything to eat. So, she just ate a barrel cactus that she knew she could eat. When she laid down for the night, she was again whisked off to train with another warrior during the night.
For the next few weeks this goes on every night she stops to rest. By the time she arrives back in her cave. She was so mentally tired, sore, and exhausted from walking home. She drags herself into her cave and strips out of the clothes she had been wearing for the two weeks it took her to get home.
She steps into the pool of water she uses for cleaning and just relaxes. The water was warm from the sun shining down and warming it. She just closes her eyes and rests. She was hungry, but she wanted to clean up first before she decided to eat anything.
While Amy is soaking, Dan comes walking into her cave. A smile was plastered on his face as he spots Amy soaking.
“I was expecting you last night.” He sets down the basket of food his wife made for Amy.
“I would have been, but I ate the wrong cactus and got diarrhea from it.” Amy couldn’t believe she ate the wrong cactus. She thought she got the right one, but it turned out it was the wrong one.
“That will do it all the time.” A playful smile appears on Dan’s face.
“So, what is in the basket?” Amy could smell the aroma of freshly cooked chicken in the basket.
“My wife thought you might like some fried chicken, homemade potato salad, baked beans, and string beans after living off the land.”
“She was right.” Amy steps out of the pool of water and slips on a deerskin dress. She woke up one morning and found it and a pair of moccasins. There was a belt made of silver and turquoise as well.
She seats down and opens the basket. She inhales the aroma of the chicken and her mouth starts to water. After weeks of drinking groundwater and eating either snakes or cactus. She couldn’t wait to eat the chicken and the sides.
Dan could see how hungry Amy was and how she was eyeing the food “go ahead and dig in.”
“Thank you, Dan.” Amy takes out a chicken breast and bites into it.
A low moan escapes from her mouth as the spices tickle her tongue. She loved how well the chicken was spiced, after eating snakes and cactus. She finishes the chicken breast and picks another piece to eat.
Dan watches with a smirk on his face. This wasn’t the first time someone he trained had acted like this after coming back. He makes himself comfortable and watches Amy as she ate. He pulls out his pipe and lights it.
After a while, Amy finishes all the food Dan brought her and lets out a loud burp. Her cheeks turn red from embarrassment “sorry.”
“It’s okay. So, did you experience anything while you were finding your way back to here?” Dan takes a puff from his pipe.
“Yes, when I fell asleep, my spirit left my body and went to a different plane of existence where I was trained by ancient warriors from the past. How is that possible?” Amy was confused about that.
“Since you are the daughter of the Wolf. He has summoned the spirits of our greatest warriors to train you. The plane of existence you went to, is called the astral plane. It can look like anything you want it to look like. Your father wants you to be able to handle yourself.”
“So, dad summoned the spirits of dead warriors to train me?” Amy couldn’t believe what dan was telling her.
“Yes, those warriors were some of the best warriors from our past.”
“How long will I keep being trained by them?” Amy was curious about that.
“That’s up to your father and the spirits. Were you trained by the same warrior each time?”
“No, I meet three different warriors and they taught me different things,” Amy remembered the three different warriors she was trained by.
“Do you remember what they taught you?” Dan was curious as he takes a puff from his pipe.
“I can’t forget it. I felt it the next morning.” Amy was still feeling everything from her last lesson.
“That’s because whatever happens on the astral plane, also happens to your body. You’re still connected to your physical form.” Dan has only experienced the astral plane a few times.
“Okay, that explains why I feel everything from my training. Why didn’t you or dad explain this to me?” Amy wanted to know.
“Because explaining it to you and experiencing it yourself are two different things. I could explain everything to you, but you would never know what it felt like to experience it. There are going to be things I and your father won’t tell you or explain to you. We want you to experience firsthand how it feels.”
“Hasn’t enough already been done to me?” Amy was getting tired of being used.
“Yes, I’m sorry you have had to go through what you did, Amy. But you need to be prepared for what you will be doing once you leave here.” Dan could understand how Amy felt.
Amy goes about cleaning up everything. She leaves the bones from the chicken for the birds that come by to watch over her. She packs everything up and puts it all back into the basket.
Dan watches as Amy packs everything up. He puts his pipe out and stands up “you must be tired from your ordeal. Take tomorrow to recover. I’ll resume your training, afterward.”
“Thanks, Dan.” Amy hands the basket to Dan. She looks at him “tell your wife, thank you as well.”
“I will, you get some rest.”
“I will.” Amy watches as Dan leaves her cave.
Once he leaves. She walks over to where she normally sleeps and lays down. She hopes she doesn’t have training again as she closes her eyes.
Amy wakes up feeling tired and sore. Last night she had more training and her teachers wasn’t easy on her. She slides into the water, after taking her deerskin dress off. She didn’t wear any undergarments.
She soaks for a while and notices the chicken bones she set out were gone. She wonders what she is going to do today? She had the whole day to herself. After she was done bathing. She checks out and gets dressed. Instead of her dress, she puts on a pair of pants and a western button-down shirt.
The shirt was a little big on her, but the pants hugged her hips and made her waist look smaller.
She puts on a pair of moccasin ankle boots dan brought for her.
The ankle boots were a little tight, but she’ll break them in. She doesn’t have any makeup, but she didn’t need to wear any. She takes her knife and a compass with her. She didn’t need to take her compass with her, but she wanted to make sure she had it.
Amy leaves her cave with her waterskin and goes out to look around. She hasn’t explored the area near her hidden cave. Sure, she has hunted the area but never explored it.
Amy goes out and just looks around. She knew her cave was special. She learned from her father that he asked her mother to make the cave just for her.
Amy travels away from the area around her cave. She hasn’t been through the area before. As she is exploring, she spots a few caves. She walks into the first cave and it looked like someone had dug in the cave. She explores as deep as she could, before having to turn around and head back out.
The second cave looked like the first one. Someone had dug in this cave as well. She explores her way back inside the cave and finds small nuggets of gold laying on the ground. She picks it up and looks at it. A smile appears on her face, as she realizes that it was a gold nugget.
She pockets the few nuggets she found. She turns around and heads back towards the entrance. As soon as she walks into the third cave, she spots a skeleton a little into the cave. She walks over and looks at the skeleton. She could tell he was a cowboy by the clothes that were still on him. Laying near him was a Winchester rifle. Around his waist, was a gun belt with two handguns still in them.
Amy takes the rifle and gun belt. He had a small bag with coins in it as well.
“I hope you don’t mind me using your weapons and taking your money.” Amy walks out of the cave and looks around.
Amy felt like doing some more exploring while taking the weapons she just acquired with her. She got a feeling that she was going to need them. She climbs up a set of rocks and reaches the top without any problems. She looks around and loved the view surrounding her.
“Nice view, isn’t it?” Wolf appears behind his daughter.
“It is, dad.” Amy turns around to look at her father. She still misses her birth father, but she didn’t look like anything from her former life.
“I see you found the weapons I wanted you to find.” Wolf knew the cowboy that died in the cave.
“Why did you want me to find these weapons?” Amy looks at her father.
“Because that cowboy, died protecting an Apache woman and her child. You’re not my first child.” Wolf remembers the woman like it was yesterday.
“What happened to them?” Amy was curious.
“The US government killed them, while all the braves were out defending the tribe.” A tear slides down Wolf’s face as the memory of what the
white man had done haunts him.
“I’m sorry, father.” Amy hugs her adopted father.
Wolf wraps his arms around Amy and just holds her. He could feel she was being sincere. He just stands there holding her.
“How are you holding up, my little wolf. But you still have a lot ahead of you to do.”
“What must I do, father?” Amy looks up at Wolf’s face.
“You must make those who gave the authority to conduct their experiment on you. They must learn that life isn’t for them to play with or for them to change. The souls of their victims call out for justice and you are their weapon, my daughter.” Wolf knew Amy will get her revenge on those that were killed and for herself. He has seen it written in the clouds.
“I’m not only getting justice for what they did to me and others but for what has been done to our people, father.” Amy feels that a wrong must be righted.
“The time for that has passed, my daughter. All you can do now is bring justice to the ones that died.” Wolf knew nothing could make up for the wrongs that have been done to his people. The time for that has already come and gone.
“Now, let me show you how to change into your wolf form.” Wolf puts the knowledge of what she needs to know in her head.
Amy feels a soft touch on her forehead and then the spirit of a wolf merging with her spirit. The two of them become one as she feels her body changing. She drops onto all fours as her clothes disappear and fur starts to cover her body. Her arms and legs stretch twist and change. Her hands turn into paws and a tail sprouts out from right above her anal opening. Her chest flattens and forms the underbody of a wolf's chest. Her eyes change into that of a wolf, as her ears elongate and change into a wolf. By the time the change is complete, she feels tired and sore.
Wolf watches his daughter turns into a red cinnamon color wolf. She had patches of white on her chest and belly.
“You look so lovely, my little wolf.” Wolf strokes Amy’s fur.
“Thank you, father.” She manages to stand up off the ground.
“Come, let's see how agile your wolf form is.” Wolf changes into a pitch-black wolf, that was a little taller and bigger than Amy.
“Father, what the weapons?” Amy looks over towards the weapons she got.
“Leave them. They aren’t going anywhere.” He concentrates and makes them disappear.
She follows her father as he shows her how to hunt and scout as a wolf. She was enjoying the thrill she was getting from being a wolf. It took her a few minutes to learn how to run on all fours, but once she did. It was fun and thrilling. Whatever wolf went, she went.
He showed her how to use the shadows as her cover and how she should strike when she went after another animal. They ran into a few coyotes, but they didn’t attack her or the wolf. They just ran away from them.
“Will that always happen, father?” Amy looks at her father.
“Yes, they sense you are not natural and feel your spiritual energies. While in this form, you have the capability of doing all sorts of things. Here, follow me.” Wolf jumps into a shadow and disappears.
Amy does the same thing and looks around her. She was somewhere there wasn’t any light, she could see a small opening of light.
“What is this place, father?” As she follows behind him to one of the small spots of lights.
“Nowhere and everywhere. If you need to get somewhere far away and don’t want to travel on foot or by vehicle. You can come here and find the
right speck of light and jump through.” Wolf jumps through the one he was looking for.
Amy jumps through the same speck of light and looks around. They were standing in a beautiful meadow and were surrounded by trees.
“Where are we, father?” Amy walks around sniffing. She was picking up all sorts of scents and such.
“We are on the Eastern seaboard in what the white man calls the rocky mountains.” He leads Amy over to a stream that was being fed by a waterfall.
He takes a sip of it first to make sure it was safe for his daughter. Once he was sure it was safe, he looks at Amy “drink.”
Amy walks over and takes a few licks from the water. It tasted fresh and cold. She tries not to fill up too much on the water.
“Come, let me show you a few more portals.” Wolf jumps back into the shadow they came through.
Amy follows her father, as he takes her through another portal. This time it was up in Canada. Amy felt the cold even with her fur.
“Can anyone use these portals?” Amy looks at her father.
“No. These portals are just for use by certain people and us.” Wolf jumps back through and takes Amy somewhere else.
Amy follows her father as he shows her different places where the portals come out. Some of them were in strange places and others were in buildings. In one building, they set off the security system. The alarms were loud to Amy’s wolf hearing and were glad when they jumped back through the portal.
Wolf takes Amy to one place that had a nice yard. He stops and looks around because he smelled the scent of an unusual cat.
“I hope you aren’t here to hurt my charge, Wolf.” Kadyn felt a disturbance in her backyard and went to investigate.
Angela was inside the house playing card games with her friends. Her cards were braille so she could feel them.
“I don’t mean you or yours any harm, Kadyn.” Wolf knew Kadyn was a legendary fire cat from the ancient temples of Bast. She protected a young blind girl that had gifts.
“Who is she, father?” Amy looks at her and had never seen a cat like her before.
Her fur looked to be almost like her own, but redder, She was also, bigger than your average cat. She could sense that whatever she was, held a lot of power.
“Kadyn is what you call a fire cat. They serve the goddess Bast and protect humans they have bonded with. In this case, Kadyn has bonded with a young blind teenage girl that has a powerful gift.”
“Who is the pup, Wolf?” Kadyn looks toward Amy and notices, that she wasn’t a Werewolf or shapeshifter. She had Wolf’s aura all over her.
“She’s my daughter, Kadyn.” Wolf hated graveling to Kadyn, but if there was one cat he feared, it was her kind. They got their power directly from their goddess.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Amy, daughter of Wolf. You are welcome here any time you would like to talk, but please be nice to my charge when you visit.”
“Thank you, Kadyn. I will remember that.” Amy was starting to like Kadyn.
“Come child.” Wolf turns to leave.
“It’s been nice meeting you, Kadyn.” Amy follows her father.
Kadyn watches as both wolves disappear into the shadows. She wonders if Wolf’s child will visit her on her own. A smile appears on her cat's face.
Wolf reappears back on the rock where they started. He knew Amy was directly behind her.
“Why is Kadyn the guardian of a human child?” Amy was curious why an Egyptian goddess/servant protects a human.
“She does as her goddess commands her. As for why, that is a question I do not ask. There are several supernatural offspring's on this planet. I’m just concerned with my people.”
“Oh, I didn’t think that other cultures had god/dess that mingle with us.” Amy never learned anything about this in school.
“There is a lot in this world you will be learning.” Wolf assumes his human form.
Amy follows her father’s example and assumes her human form. She noticed the clothes she had oned before her shift, were the same ones she was wearing.
“I think I can get used to this.” Amy liked how her clothes reappeared.
A smile appears on Wolf’s face. He says a few words in Apache and the weapons Amy found, reappear. He picks them up and hands them to her
“take these with you and ask Dan to teach you how to clean them and use them.”
Amy accepts them and looks at her father “I thought I would be learning how to use traditional Native American weapons as well.”
“You will, but first these need to be cleaned. Afterward, you’ll learn both.” Wolf places a kiss on Amy’s forehead.
Amy felt all special and gooey inside when her father kissed her forehead.
“Now go home sweetie and rest. The next few days and nights are going to be busy.”
“Yes, father.” Amy turns and starts walking back to her cave.
Amy examines the weapons she found and wonders how long they have been inside the cave. She sniff’s the air and picks up Dan’s scent as he comes into her cave.
“Hi, Dan.” Amy smiles at him as he enters the main area of her cave.
“Hey, Amy. What do you have there?” Dan walks over to where Amy was sitting.
“Dad wanted me to have these weapons, but they look like they need some work.” Amy watches Dan as he sits down where she is and looks over the weapon.
Dan lets out a whistle as he looks at the old weapons. He carefully picks them up and makes sure they were empty. He couldn’t believe he was holding an 1860s Army Peacemaker. He knew they were .44 caliber. He examines the 1866 .44 caliber Winchester rifle. It had some markings on it, but it was going to need to be clean and checked out.
“You know Amy, there are some gun collectors that would love to buy these guns off you.” Dan looks at Amy.
“I can’t sell them. They belonged to a cowboy who saved one of dad’s daughters and grandchild.” Amy runs her fingertips along the barrels of the handgun and rifle.
“Well, I know a gunsmith that can be trusted. He’ll take real good care of these guns and make sure they can still be used.”
“Can he do something with these?” Amy puts the gun holsters on top of the weapons.
“No, but I know a leather expert and I’ll have him look them over and fix anything wrong and have him also make you a newer version of them as
well.” Dan knew Claire makes some of the best leather gear. She learned the trade from her grandfather.
“Thanks, Dan.”
“You’re welcome, Amy. Now, this is the plan for the next few weeks. We are camping, but this trip will be a training session for you.” Dan figured Amy needs to learn how to survive in the woods.
“Does dad know about this?” Amy wanted to make sure her father was okay with this.
“Yes, so I want you to pack up some clothes for two weeks. Don’t worry about your cave. It will be taken care of for you.”
“Okay.” Amy goes about packing up a few pants, her custom boots, her knife, water skin, and a few other items she figures she’ll need.
By the time everything was packed into a backpack Dan had given her. She makes sure all her other stuff was safe. She leaves some food out for the birds that watch over her. She turns and looks at Dan “I’m ready.”
“Okay, let’s go.” Dan leads Amy out of the cave and towards his truck.
“Dan, won’t people recognize me?” Amy puts her backpack in the back of Dan’s truck.
“No, you look more Native American now. No one will recognize you at all.” Dan carries the weapons out along with the holsters as well.
He carefully loads them in the back of his truck and wraps them up. He puts Amy’s backpack on top of them.
“Let’s go and drop your weapons off first. Afterward, we’ll start our trip.”
“Won’t your wife miss you?” Amy looks at Dan before she gets into the truck.
“She already knows about us, going camping.” Dan gets in on the driver's side of the truck.
Amy gets in and fastens the seat belt. She was feeling excited and couldn’t wait to see where they were going.
“How long will it take us to get to our campsite?” Amy looks toward Dan as he starts the truck up.
“Oh, about eight hours or so.” Dan starts the truck up and heads towards his gunsmith friend's place first.
Amy watches as Dan drives them to the gunsmith. When they arrive at the gunsmith shop. She watches Dan collect the guns from the back of the truck and take them inside the building.
She sits there in the truck and watches everything going on around her.
This is the first time since she was kidnapped and experimented on that she has been away from her cave. She hopes her father doesn’t mind her going somewhere else. She looks at the old watch Dan gave her. So, far he has been inside the shop for ten minutes.
After twenty minutes, Dan comes walking out and gets into the truck. He turns and looks at Amy “my friend said, the guns will be ready by the time we get back from our camping trip. He’s going to contact the young lady I know that does leather work and she’ll work come by and work on your holsters.”
“Cool, so where are we heading off to?” Amy was curious.
“Ozark National Forest, Arkansas.” Dan puts the truck into gear and starts driving.
“Okay. I have no idea where that is, but this should be fun.” Amy was curious.
“You’ll say that now.” A smirk appears on Dan’s face.
“I don’t care if this is more training.” Amy was looking forward to spending time somewhere else for a while.
“Good, because you will have a lot of fun.” Dan had the whole two weeks planned out for them.
After four hours, Dan stops at a restaurant on route to get some lunch. The place wasn’t very big and looked to be owned by a family.
“This should be good.” Amy was glad she didn’t have to go out and hunt her food down.
“I’ve been here before. I think you’ll like it.” Dan holds the front door open for Amy.
“Thank you, kind sir.” Amy walks inside the restaurant
She noticed how busy the place was. Also, the aroma drifting around in the air smelled so good. Her enhanced senses were allowing her to hear, smell, and see everything going on around her.
“Hi, my name is Diani. How many are in your party?” Diani looks at the older Native American gentleman and the young girl standing near him.
“It’s just the two of us, Diani.” Dan smiles at the middle-aged woman.
“Alright, if you’ll follow me. I’ll show you to a table.” Diani grabs two menus and escorts Dan and Amy over to a table near the front windows.
“Here we go.” As Diani places the menus on the table.
“Your server will be with you in a minute.” Diani smiles at Dan and Amy.
“Thank you, Diani.” Dan sits down at the table and starts reading the menu.
Amy sits down and looks at the menu as well. She already knew she wanted a Pepsi to drink. She looks at Dan “what are you going to get to drink?”
“Coffee.” Dan only drank coffee, ice tea, or water. He wasn’t a soda person.
A young woman shows up at their table after a few minutes. Her hair was cut short and it was black. She looked to be in her late twenties, or early thirties. She places their drinks on the table in front of them.
Afterward, she looks at Dan first “what would you like to order, sir?”
“I’ll have your patty melt with home fries.”
The woman writes the order down “and you, ma’am?” as she looks at Amy.
“I’ll try your meatloaf with Brussel sprouts and macaroni and cheese.” Amy hands her men to the young woman.
The young woman accepts the menu. She smiles at them as she walks off to have their meals prepared. Amy watches as she walks off towards the kitchen.
Amy yawns and stretches as she looks around their campsite. The homemade tent Dan taught her to make yesterday was behind her. Dan told her that they were going to survive off the land, which meant she would have to hunt for her food, and find water. He brought some waterskins he had collected over the years with them.
Amy goes looking for something to make breakfast. She finds several plants that she knew she was safe to eat. Dan had taught her which plants she could eat yesterday when they went out looking for dinner. She gathers up enough plants and some wild berries she found that was safe to eat as well. She heads back to camp and smelled the aroma of bacon and eggs.
When she notices Dan cooking them over a fire he made. She just stands there looking at him with disbelief on her face.
“I thought you said we are living off the land?” Amy couldn’t believe that Dan was holding out on her.
“I said you are going to learn how to live off the land. This is a survival training trip for you.” A Cheshire smile appears on his face.
“Fine, I spent most of the morning finding us breakfast for nothing.” Amy walks over with her bounty.
“It’s not for nothing, Amy. Let’s see what you have.” Dan wanted to see what Amy gathered.
He goes through the plants, nuts, berries and some bird eggs Amy managed to find. He was impressed that she managed to find a lot of different safe foods for the two for them to eat. He looks at her “you did good, kiddo.”
“Thanks.” Amy was proud that she did well.
“Don’t let it go to waste.” Dan smiles at Amy.
“Yes sir.” Amy sits down and starts eating the food she found.
After breakfast, Dan shows Amy how to track in the forest. Also, how to tell where she is and what time it is. He also shows her what plants and fungi can be used for medical use. For the next few days, Dan and Amy train and track animals in the woods.
Dan also teaches Amy how to fish as well. Everything from catching the fish with her hands to making a makeshift fishing pole with stone weights and different types of bait. Dan makes her fish for dinner that night.
After dinner that night, Dan teaches her about the constellations and how to spot them up in the sky. Amy was loving the lessons. She also liked the fact that she was outside and surrounded by so much green and trees. The only environment she has known was the desert.
She does some night hunting and learns how to be quiet as she moved. Thanks to her eyes and sense of smell. She doesn’t have a hard time at night, as a normal person would. Part of the change she went through was when Wolf’s blood was introduced into her body.
Amy and Dan do some hiking. Amy loves it and could keep going, but poor Dan has to stop a few times.
“What’s wrong old man, can’t keep up?” Amy looks at Dan with a playful look on her face.
“If I had some of your father’s blood running through my veins, I could.” Dan knew keeping up with someone as young as Amy was going to be tough. Not only was she young and in her teens, but she also had the blood of Wolf himself running through her veins. Which made her
supernatural.
“Dan, how long have you known my father?” Amy was curious about their relationship.
“Since I was a child. He would move among the people on the reservation to see how his children were doing. There’s a tradition that every young person takes to discover who or what their spirit animal would be.”
“And that’s how you met dad?” Amy has heard about the tradition of how you go about finding your spirit animal and guide.
“Yes. He turned out to be my spirit animal.” Dan remembered the day he met Wolf.
“That must have been weird.” Amy could imagine how that must have been.
“You have no idea. I was lost in the woods and I knew a pack of wolves was out hunting. We had been having problems with a pack that was
coming after our livestock. I was stalking them and injured myself. I would have died if Wolf hadn’t shown up when he did. He protected me from the pack of wolves. Since then, I have always trained or taught whoever he brought to me.”
“Have they been like me?” Amy was curious.
“My dear, there isn’t anyone like you. You are the first of your kind in a very long time.” Dan knew that to be true.
“Oh, I didn’t know that.” Amy was surprised to hear that.
For the rest of the evening, Dan leaves the campsite and goes into the woods. He was setting up some traps and obstacles for Amy. He was going to test her.
When he comes back, Dan looks at Amy “I have left a water skin filled with your favorite drink in a clearing. I want you to go and retrieve it.”
Amy gives him a suspicious look “what’s the catch?”
“You’ll find out. Now go and retrieve it.” Dan tosses Amy a knife.
Amy catches the knife. She puts in a spare sheath she has and heads into the woods. After a few minutes of walking, she almost trips the first trap set for her. She disarms it and moves on. Now she knew why Dan wanted her to retrieve the waterskin.
In the second and third traps, she disarms but gets whacked by the fourth trap. Dan knew she would find the second and third one, but when she disarmed the third trap. It set the fourth trap and when she proceeds forward and sets it off.
A branch swings out and hit her hard across her chest. It was only strong enough to knock the wind out of her, but it hurt like hell. She moved more carefully, making sure there weren’t any traps in her path. By the time she got to the waterskin, she set the last trap off. However, she managed not to get tripped up by the trap.
By the time she gets back to camp she looks at Dan “you are not playing fair.”
An evil smile appears on Dan’s face “sweetheart, life isn’t fair and people you might encounter won’t be nice to you either. So, I’m preparing you for what you are going to encounter.”
Dan knew he was going to have to be hard on Amy. He was going to prepare her for what she will have to face after Wolf and he feel she is ready.
“Come on, let’s go and get dinner for tonight.” Dan grabs a bow and several arrows he made.
Amy puts the waterskin down and follows Dan into the woods. They find deer tracks and follow them. Dan hands the bow and arrow to Amy
“alright kiddo, let's see what you got.”
Amy aims and pulls the arrow back. She waits and after a few seconds, she releases the arrow. It flies straight and true, as it hits its target. The arrow buries itself into the deer.
Dan and Amy move swiftly towards it and slit its throat. Dan shows Amy how to skin and remove the internal organs of the deer. He does make her take a bite out of the deer’s heart. He also thanks the deer for sacrificing itself so they may feed.
Dan’s Ranch:
Amy yawns and stretches as she looks around the bedroom, she wakes up in. There was a slight chill in the air as she gets out of bed. She slips her feet into the slippers Dan’s wife had given her. She doesn’t know how Dan’s wife knew what size she wore, but she was thankful for them.
She walks over to the dresser with a huge mirror attached to it and brushes out her long black hair. Her hair has gotten longer and fuller since her return from the wilderness training Dan put her through.
She brushes it out and afterward, put it into a high ponytail. She slips the flannel nightshirt she was wearing off and put on the new bra, Dan’s wife took her to get. She noticed that her body was starting to change and her breasts were starting to fill out. At first, she hadn’t noticed the development. However, one day when she was reaching for an item she dropped. Her chest started hurting. Later on in the day, she felt the pain again, but more intense when she got smacked across her chest. The pain had caused her to drop to her knees.
It was after Dan’s wife examined her, that she was informed about her breasts filling in. Dan’s wife took her shopping and bought her several training bras to start wearing. She quickly gets dressed and heads outside to feed the horses. She could see her breath when she let a breath out and was thankful for the fleece-lined jacket Dan gave her.
Amy walks up to Swift Wind and rubs his nose. He was a dark chestnut brown color and several hands tall. She felt so small near him. “How are you doing, boy?” As Amy continues to pet him.
Dan had said that Swift Wind was her horse now. He had been amazed at how Swift Wind responded to her touch and commands.
When Dan got him, no one could get near him. When they tried to break him. He put them in the hospital. It wasn’t until Dan introduced Amy to Swift Wind, that the horse calmed down and acted like a puppy around her. When she wasn’t around, no one could approach him, but when she came back. He let them.
“We’ll go for a ride later boy.” Amy gives the big horse a hug, before moving on to feed the other horses.
Amy feeds the other horses and lets them out into the field to exercise. She feeds the cattle and buffalos Dan was raising. After completing her morning chores, Amy heads back into the house. She takes her boots off in the mud room and slips her slippers back on.
The weather had gotten cooler and colder lately. Dan said that he was going to train her for weather survival and tracking. But also, he and his wife was going to teach her how she was supposed to act around other people. She also was going to learn how to read their body language as well. That way when she goes after the people who were responsible for the death of her parents and for the experiment performed on her. She would be able to tell if they were lying or not.
Dan’s wife, also informed her that it would do her some good on how to interact with other people. She was at the age where girls learned certain skills from being around other girls their age and socializing with boys. She really didn’t care about socializing with others right now, but her father said it was important that she learns how.
The skills she learns will allow her to blend in with a crowd and make it harder for her prey to locate her. Those same skills would allow her to get close to her prey and surprise them. She knew her father was right, so she promised to do her best.
When Amy walks into the kitchen, she notices Rebecca fixing breakfast for everyone. She walks over to the refrigerator and grabs the pitcher of milk and pours herself a glass.
“Is everyone taken care of?” Rebecca looks at Amy.
“Yes, ma’am. Everyone is fed and let out into the field.”
“Good, how about you help me with breakfast, and afterward, you can help me make a few delivers.”
“Okay.” Amy didn’t mind helping out Dan’s sister-in-law. Rebecca was a nice person and tried to help out some of the seniors on the reservation.
Amy gets to work making pancakes and flatbread. She loved Rebecca’s recipe for flatbread. It took her several tries to get the recipe right, but once she did. They came out, perfect each time she made them.
She makes enough for the eight people living in the old farmhouse to have three flatbreads apiece. She knew the guys loved to load theirs up
with scrambled eggs and bacon. She also makes a pot of coffee as well. She was good at making coffee, after hanging out with Dan so much.
“Guys, breakfast is ready.” Amy had gone to yell upstairs to everyone.
“Already, sweet pea.” Samuel had come out of his bedroom and looked down at Amy.
He was an older gentleman, but younger than Dan. He was Dan’s second cousin and was very kind.
“Okay, thanks, Samuel.”
“No problem, sweet per.” Samuel had been informed by Dan about who Amy was and why she was here on the ranch.
Amy walks towards Dan’s home office and knocks before going in. Dan told her she should knock before entering his office unless it was an emergency.
“Enter!”
Dan looks up as the door to his office opens. He was going over the ranch finances to make sure they weren’t going into debt.
“Let me guess, breakfast is ready?”
“Yes, sir.” Amy smiles at Dan.
She notices he was different when he was home. His attitude and posture were more relaxed and she liked it.
“Let Rebecca know I’ll be a few minutes, please.”
“Yes, sir.” Amy turns around and heads back to the kitchen.
She passes some of the other residents living at the house. Besides Rebecca and Edith. There were six other guys in the house. Edith was Dan’s wife and wasn’t Native American at all. She was Mexican and has been married to Dan for the past thirty years.
Rebecca was Edith’s adopted sister and she was a full-blooded Native American. Edith’s parents adopted Rebecca when she was just three years old. Rebecca’s parents had passed away from cancer. Since Edith’s parents and Rebecca’s parents were so close. They adopted Rebecca just before her parents passed away at the same time.
Amy walks into the dining room and sits down between Rebecca and Edith. She looks at Rebecca “he said he’ll be a few minutes.”
“Well, he better hurry before everything is gone.” Edith knew how hungry the other guys were.
“Knowing Dan, he’ll hurry.” Amy knew Dan never missed out on food.
Dan shows up a few minutes after everyone else. Amy just listens to the men talk as she eats her breakfast. She was thinking about her outing with Rebecca.
After breakfast, Rebecca, Edith, and Amy get into Rebecca’s SUV and start visiting some of the people on the reservation. Amy couldn’t believe the condition of some of the homes they visit. It wasn’t the owner’s fault for what she was seeing, but the fact that some homes didn’t have running water or electricity.
Some of the homes were patched together with all sorts of material. Things you would find at a scrap yard or junkyard. She couldn’t believe how the people were living/surviving. She looks at Edith “how long has this been going on?”
“For a long time. The tribal council has been doing everything it can to help everyone out. The problem is, there are so many laws from the state and from the Federal government. That it is hard to get approval to help everyone out.” Rebecca wishes that she could do more to help everyone.
“People shouldn’t have to live like this.” Amy felt herself getting angry at what she was seeing.
“I agree with you, Amy. However, it has been going on for so long. People have given up on trying to change the situation and those that are still
fighting to change things, are either being held back out of date laws or regulations.” Rebecca lets out a sigh.
A low growling sound could be heard coming from Amy. Her anger was boiling over.
“Easy, Amy.” Edith lays her hand on Amy’s arm.
Amy felt her anger subsiding some. She didn’t want to kill anyone right now, but she did want to punish someone for what they were doing to her people.
“Feel better?” Edith looks at Amy, searching her eyes.
“Yes, ma’am.” Amy takes a breath and lets it out.
For the rest of the day, Amy manages to remain calm as Rebecca drove them around. Amy meets all sorts of interesting people as they make their rounds.
Amy shiver as she trudges through the snow and fights against the biting cold wind. She manages to make it to the barn to check on the horses and other animals. She walks over to her horse and rubs his nose. She feeds him pieces of sliced apples he likes so much.
“It’s cold out there, today Swift Wind.” Amy was bundled up in her fleece-lined jacket, work gloves, and the wool scarf covering her neck.
The new boots she got about a month ago and the wool soaks were keeping her feet warm. She and Dan had gone out yesterday to do some hunting and came back with several rabbits. She managed to kill them with her bow. She sent the arrow right through their necks.
Rebecca taught her how to skin them. She already knew how to from Dan, but Rebecca wanted her to relearn from her. She also taught her how to prepare them and cook them up. Rebecca made sure she knew how to cook and preserve all the foods she found.
After she spends some time with Swift Wind and the other animals. She heads back into the house, after taking her boots off and leaving them in the mud room. She liked the idea of having a mudroom to take her boots off in. That way you weren’t tracking mud or dirt throughout the house.
She walks into the den and sits down at the quilt she has been working on. Rebecca taught her how to make it and helped her come up with a design for it.
She was making it for Awe Goseyun. She didn’t have much after the fire that burned down her home. A stray ember had floated down on top of her trailer and caught the petroleum-rich tar covering the roof. As soon as the embers caught the roof on fire, it spread like wildfire. She and her children barely made it out in time. However, they lost everything in the fire. So, the residents on the reservation were helping her and her
children out. Several men had gotten together and cleared the burned trailer away and cleared the place where the trailer stood.
She had helped them and afterward, she donated several of the coins she had found to buy the new lumber and supplies it would take to build a new home for Awe’s family. She worked along with the men to get the building itself up before the snow fell. They managed to find an old fashion cast iron stove that Awe could heat the place and cook on.
They built a box to catch the snow to melt to provide water until they could install the pump. They managed to mount and secure the solar panels on the roof. So, Awe had power for lights, television, and refrigerator.
For food and clothes, the whole reservation chipped in to buy food and give clothes and some furniture to the family. Amy was making quilts for the family, to help them keep warm during the winter months. So, far she had two done but needed to make three more.
“How’s it coming, Amy?” Rebecca looks over towards Amy as she worked.
“I should be done with this one, by tonight. I’ll start on the other one in the morning.” Amy liked the fact she had quilts to make.
Dan warned her that winter on the reservation could be boring. The only way you could get around on the reservation was with four-wheelers, horses, or snowmobiles. He could ski, so he had no problems. He taught her how to ski and walk in snowshoes.
Today, it was too cold outside to do anything, so they were going to stay inside and work on whatever projects they had going on. People were making use of the cold air and snow. She would have never thought about filling a barrel full of water with an empty space in the middle of it and turning it into a deep freezer. That amazed her when she saw Charlie doing it.
He told her that he has been doing it for years. It was the best way to save what power he could generate for his home. He had taken an old engine out of a car and used it to generate power for his place.
Since gasoline and kerosene were expensive, he used natural gas to power his place. He had two huge propane tanks painted up to look like watermelons.
Some people on the reservation were heating their homes the old fashion way. They used dried-out dung to burn in their stoves or outside cover pits. Some used prairie grass they managed to grow.
Amy had learned a lot from several people on the reservation. Skills that were going to come in handy when she starts surviving on her own.
Dan taught her how to make a tepee and set it up. He told her that sometimes there wouldn’t be any caves or outcroppings that she could use for shelter. So, she might want to learn how to make a tepee to live, in a safe area.
By the time she finishes one quilt, she was yawning. She wanted to make some headway on the other quilt. She already did the basics on it. Now, she was going to fancy it up some for the person. She found out what the person liked and made a patchwork design of it.
Amy works for a few more hours before she stabs her fingertips too many times. She folds the quilt up and put everything away.
“Night, everyone.” Amy waves goodnight to some of the guys that were engross in a novel.
“Night, Amy.” Cameron watches as she leaves the den and heads toward her bedroom.
He looks towards Dan since he was staying up late. He wonders what Dan was going to train her to do next.
“So, what is next on your agenda for her?”
Dan looks up from the newspaper he was reading. He knew Cameron was just concerned for Amy “nothing until after the holidays. She could survive on her own right now in this mess without any help from me. She’s a better tracker than most seasoned hunters we know are.” Dan had been impressed by how well Amy tracked things.
“Don’t you it’s too much for a girl her age?” Cameron was concerned about Amy.
Dan had to think about that question. On one hand, he feels Amy should enjoy being a child, but on the other hand. The people who did this to her, need to pay with their lives.
“I think, Amy needs to find closure for everything done to her.” Dan felt that was the best way to explain it.
“If you say so.”
Several Months Later:
Amy watches her prey as they enjoy themselves hunting. The four men she was after were the ones responsible for trapping her father. She has already gotten revenge on the man that used to be her birth father’s friend. He had a nasty accident in his car on the way to work.
She had loosened the bleeder screws on his brake lines. So, when he stepped on the brakes, they would squirt the fluid out. She had arranged for some deer to jump out of the woods at the right moment to make him slam on the brakes.
She watched as he was unable to avoid the deer and skidded off the road, into a huge tree. When she went over to make sure he was dead. She discovered he was still living. So, she finished the job but made it look like it was caused by the accident.
She didn’t feel anything as she killed him, except he deserved what he got. He took her life away from her along with her family. She was going to get revenge or justice on everyone responsible for ruining her life.
The men she was hunting now, were the hunters who managed to trap her father. She already knew what she was going to do to them. Her father taught her a few tricks and was going to use them. She reaches into her pocket and picks out a rock and tosses it at the head of one of the trappers.
Jacob felt something hard hit him on the back of his head. He turns with his rifle at the ready. He didn’t know why a young native American girl had lured him and the others out into a heavy forest area not far from the Indian Reservation. Something about the woods seemed familiar to him, but he couldn’t place his finger on it. He looks around for the girl and spotted some movement. He pulls the trigger on his AR-15 and fires at the shadow.
Craig had spotted the girl that lured him and everyone else into the woods. Just as he moved towards her, he feels something hit him in the neck. He drops to the ground bleeding out from the bullet wound.
Jacob moves over to the figure he just shot and notices it was his buddy, Craig. He had shot him right in the neck. He hears laughter coming from around him.
“You’re a dead girl!”
“I’ve already died once, mister. Now, it's yours and your friend's turn to experience death.” Amy lets go of her arrow and strike Jacob in the chest. She fires again and hit him again in the chest.
Thomas had heard Jacob’s voice and moved over to where he was. As he got closer, he saw Jacob get hit in the chest twice by arrows and watched as he dropped to the ground. He looks around for the girl but doesn’t spot her.
“Where are you bitch?” Thomas slowly moves further into the woods.
Henry spots Thomas as he moved further into the woods. He heard the gunshot from a rifle. As he moves toward Thomas, he steps into a trap. He feels sharp metal teeth snap his leg. He lets out a scream from the pain.
Thomas hears the sound of a screaming girl and fires in that direction. As he moves towards the location, he spots Henry laying on the ground with his right foot caught in a trap and a bullet going through his chest.
“You should be more careful where you shoot.” Amy throws her tomahawk at Thomas’s head.
Thomas couldn’t react fast enough and got hit right in the middle of his head. He drops to the ground with a tomahawk sticking out of his head.
Wolf steps out of the shadows and looks at Amy “you did good, my child. Now, take everything they have and leave their bodies for the woods to take care of.”
“Yes, father.” Amy goes about removing everything they have on them. She also removes the trap that she recovered from some poachers she had to kill a few weeks back.
She drags everything back to the black SUV the men had arrived in. She contacts Dan so he could come and get the vehicle. She removes her arrows and tomahawk from the people she killed with them.
Amy looks at her father “who’s next?”
“The doctor who operated on you and several others.” Wolf shows Amy how to use the shadows.
Dr. Wallace Collins Resident:
Wolf and Amy come walking out of the shadows and into a gated community. They are surrounded by high-dollar mansions and manicured lawns. Wolf leads the way toward the good doctor’s home. As they are walking, Amy looks at her father “how should I kill this doctor?”
“Give him your blood and let your blood do the work.” Wolf wanted to see how the good doctor will enjoy having his daughter’s blood in his veins.
They were in luck as they come to the home owned by the good doctor. He was at home and relaxing. He was listening to classical music and enjoying a big glass of wine. Wolf uses his abilities to let him and Amy into the mansion. Summons a huge needle and assumes a human form.
“This will only hurt for a second, sweetie.”
“I trust you, father.” As she stands till.
Wolf inserts the needle into Amy’s arm and fills the needle with her blood. He says a few words as the blood glows some. The two of them quietly walk into the room where the good doctor is relaxing. Amy knew her job was to distract the good doctor.
“Hello, Dr. Collins, how have you been?” Amy looks at the good doctor.
Dr. Collins turns around when he hears a young female voice. He looks at the young Native American girl standing before him. She was dressed in faded blues, and cowboy boots and wearing a country-style shirt.
“Who are you and how did you enter my home?”
“What, you don’t recognize me, Dr. Collins? Look carefully at me and see if I don’t spark a memory.” Amy moves closer.
Dr. Collins looks at the young girl and he recognizes her face and eyes. He remembered that she had been the last girl he had experimented on with the blood from Wolf himself.
“You can't be alive. You were dead. I examined you myself.” Dr. Collins drops the glass of wine.
“As you can see, I’m not dead, Dr. Collins. Oh, by the way, I brought someone who wanted to say thank you for giving him a daughter.” Amy saw her father standing behind Dr. Collins.
“And who is that?”
“Me!” As Wolf turns Dr. Collins around and smiles at him. There was a predatory look on his face, as he stabbed the good doctor in the chest with the needle.
He presses the plunger and injects all of Amy’s blood into the good Doctor’s heart. An evil smile appears on his face as the good doctor grips his chest and drops to his knees. The good doctor keeps screaming as he burst into flames.
Amy watches as the doctor that created her dies. She didn’t know her blood would do that.
“I didn’t know my blood would do that.” She looks towards her father.
“It wasn’t just your blood sweetie. It was a spell I placed on it. I wanted to make sure the good doctor didn’t live.” Wolf wanted the doctor to pay for what he did.
“Now, let’s go and finish this.” Wolf escorts Amy back into the shadows.
All week long there are reports of several congressmen, senators, military leaders, and several wealthy people reported as dead. Some of them died in accidents, while others just seemed to have been involved in shootings or had their throats sliced open. Two military leaders were found hanging by a rope, with their reproductive organs missing.
Dan’s Ranch:
Dan looks at Amy and could tell she has changed some from the revenge she had done. Some of her innocents were gone.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that.” Dan knew when you killed someone, it takes a piece of you.
“It had to be done. Those people needed to pay for the crimes they committed. My father thinks it might be wise for me to travel among the different tribes and learn things from them.”
“I think that is wise. You are always welcome here and your cave will be right where it is. Don’t worry about anyone finding it. It’s in a mystical area and it will be safe.”
“Thanks, Dan. I’ll drop in every once in a while to let you know I’m still alive.” Amy hugs Dan.
Dan returns the hug as he holds Amy against his body. She was going to be missed.
“You be careful out there.”
“I will.” Amy releases Dan and walks over to her horse and mounts it.
Dan watches as Amy rides off into the sunset. He hopes one day she finds someone special. He turns and walks into the house.
