The representative took a step closer, standing head and shoulders taller than me and giving me a close up look of his broad chest and two arms that were bigger around than my thighs. I let out a shuddering breath. I was tempted to reason with him, but some instinct told me to hold off, that this would be better if the initiative came from him; from them. I swallowed down my growing fear and slowly looked up into hazel eyes and finely chiselled features. Come on Liz, something to break the ice. Could that work? I took a chance and forced a quavering smile.

“You know it's a damn shame you're not straight.”

My Report, How I Spent my Summer

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

My first day at Park Side Elementary School, my teacher, Ms Midler has given us our homework assignment for the weekend, an essay or short story, truth or fiction, on what we did this summer.

I don’t think she will believe this one but she did say it could be truth or fiction.

The light on my answerphone flashed a greeting at me as I walked through the door. Just the one message. I dumped my bags on the sofa and pressed play.

“Miss Raeburn? Doctor Marston here. Your sisters. I wonder if you could take the time to come and visit tomorrow morning. Rather urgent.”

Red Shoes - Part 2

Red Shoes - Part Two

The magic continues...

Tuesday June 26

Dear Diary!
I can’t figure this weather, today was actually quite cold outside! This became especially apparent when I heard Paula giggle as we were having lunch at the park again. I couldn’t quite figure what was so funny at first until she pointed at my chest. Both my nipples looked like they were trying to break out of the confinement of my, I guess too tight, tan polo shirt! How embarrassing! Luckily there were not a soul within sight but I still walked back to the car in fast pace with my arms crossed over my chest. I would probably have run if I could but the shoes don’t really allow any sprinting!

These are the diary notes of a young man whom after taking a summer job experiences changes beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. It also suggests that there may be magic out there, not in the form of dramatic hocus-pocus but a more subtle one.

And sometimes that magic can come from something as inconspicuous as a pair of — Red Shoes.

I can’t help but to wobble a bit as the effects of what just happened hit us/me Alecia stares at me her eyes sort of wide with looks so strange on a vampyre, her pupils have expanded until there’s just the pupil surrounded by a ring of the blue/grey that her eyes normally are. She get’s up from her knees and limps over to where I’m sitting on my knees beside Shaun.

“He’s hurt bad.”

She looks at me and there’s fresh tears running down her face making clean tracks in the dirt and the old tears of blood on her face. “I’ll do my best.”

“Miss Raeburn, this is detective inspector Chubb. I caught something of your official opening on the telly this afternoon and may I say it was a most impressive showing.”

“Thank-you detective inspector, it's kind of you to say.”

“I only tell it as I see it Miss Raeburn. Speaking of which, I was over at the institute where your, er, sisters are being treated. I spent some time chatting to the doctors responsible for their care, suggested that you might be able to help. It seems they agree. They were wondering if you might be free to visit tomorrow.”

“There's another thing. The police are here. I'm afraid they want a word with you.

Changing for Gym: Fitting In

Migrated from BigCloset Classic...
A new story in Xoop's Changing Room Universe: High school is about learning who you are and how you fit in...
Fitting In

This is light little story inspired by Xoop's 'Changing for Gym' at Big Closet. It could be considered a sequel of sorts, but is actually more of a stand alone story set in the same place. I do make use of Xoop's setting, and a few of his characters (School officials, Jessica Woodruff(in a supporting kind of role) and of course, Hill Street High School.

I have also, quite shamelessly, taken Xoop's intro verbatim just to maintain continuity, with apologies to the original author. But I just couldn't come up with anything better. The rest of the story is completely my own and I'll take whatever blame or kudos come my way for it. Now, on to the story....

Daniel's story

This is a try at MELANIE EZELL'S BIG CLOSET ULTIMATE WRITER'S CHALLENGE, the tenth week challenge:

The Half Lilin: By The Light Of The Moon (Chapter 10)

She looked at me with such a sinister look that would make any man wet his pants. Then she grabbed my neck and pulled me up, suspending me half a foot above the floor by my neck. In reflex, my hands flew up to pull at the fingers while my legs kept kicking hers.

As my vision started to blur and I started to lose consciousness, I called up the deathscythe in desperation.

Immediately, I felt her grip weaken, and my visions returned. When my vision cleared, I realized that I had inadvertently drawn the blade of the scythe mere inches from her neck.

"One of death, I see. You've come a long way from that love-sick boy in elementary school. Now what are you going to do with this, sister?" she mocked.

Weekly challenge again. Let's see if I can give justice to MELANIE EZELL'S BIG CLOSET ULTIMATE WRITER'S CHALLENGE, the second week challenge:

2. The Uncomfortable Truth

idea: Write a story from the viewpoint of a non-passing transgender individual. This can explore any facet of the transgender spectrum, but try to focus on either the stigma of being one's self in a culture that values appearances or the difficulties of not being able to express ones inner self.

Arric brushed himself off. “Hello earth to Kate! You just teleported a 10 ton giant golem four miles into the air! You need to heal everyone so we can get out of here, like now!”

Kate sniffled brushing tears from her eyes. “ I-its fine, even if the golem had strong enough magic to hold itself together there is no way that it could actually hit us.”

“well whatever if you say we are alright, however wrong I feel this will be, I guess we are safe.” Arric said. “But still it does our friends no good to lie there unconscious.”

“Stone creatures...ew.” Ash said feeling the blades on her sword. “Stone isn't nice to blades.”

“Gargoyle?” Kate said half lost in cloud-observation. “Its like a stone dragon right?”

“Well perhaps you will next time then. Anyway I hope you don't have plans for tonight because as of now you're lined up for a mainstream talk show interview at nine. I'm not sure where at the moment as both ITV and the BBC are bidding for you, and I need to talk to Karen to find out how she wants to handle things.

“If I were you I'd clear my diary for the rest of the week too, as I suspect there'll be a few more offers in the pipeline. Wear something nice tonight won't you dear? I'll arrange for a car to pick you up at eight.”

She looked worried when she said, "Umm, I don't know. Maybe you're seeing the date of death for this body. You're likely seeing the death of 'Sue', not 'Mihael'.

"I don't like it either way, Sue."

"Death is the fate of all things living. Through death, life is born and prosper, until death claims them too and the cycle repeats again and again and again."

"See, this is the problem with you angels. You always sound so positive about everything."

Oh God no. He let go of my suddenly numb fingers and walked back up the hill. A chill spread through me rooting me to the spot, fixing a horrified mask on my face. No God, no, please no.

The tears wouldn't come, they were frozen somewhere inside.
