Of course, it probably depends quite critically on exactly where and in what cultural surroundings the party was held.

Inferring

That it was just a kid's birthday party, with the adults doing their thing and the kids theirs. I did notice the Mom's weren't mentioned since in my limited experience would've been more a part of this. Then again that wasn't the focus of the piece. Interesting observation just the same. We can only hope the kids will keep this open mindedness. :)
