Long time lurker first-time poster, would anyone care to share some good fantasy stories they have come across?
I would prefer stories on the longer side, but beggars can't be choosers.
All fantasy is great but I would really love a good dungeons and dragons adventuring party story.

Re: "A few in my bookmarks"

Using Fantasy as a preference:

Room in Hell is definately in the top five. This serial is still being written. A caution: the story is about a young boy, who ends up a girl summoner (of a demon from hell) who may end up as the bride of Lucifer.

Somewhere Else Entirely (SEE) by Penny Lane is one of the top two (2). There are four (4) related serials. Penny Lane has a second series using the same characters called What Milsey Did. Julia Phillips has a serial called Julina of Blackstone again using the same characters. These three (3) serials (combined) have over two hundred fifty (250) chapters!

Both of the above two (2) main serials RIH and SEE were recommended by Wendy K.

The other serial in the top two (2) is the Death Dealers Saga (Death's Own Daughter (DOD), School Time for Death (STOD)). This serial is no longer available on BCTS, but is available on Amazon. The author WolfJess7 has two other serials on BCTS one of which is not fantasy (Interpol Heartburn) The other is fantasy and is a follow on to DOD (Dreams of Dancing in the Sky). Dreams of Dancing in the Sky is very good, but not as good as Death's Own Daughter. WolfJess7 stories were not included in the stories mentioned by Wendy K.

I did enjoy Warrior Princess recommended by Wendy K.

Erin Halfelven has a really good Fantasy serial called Bian. This story is not yet finished. Erin hasn't updated it recently (even though I keep pestering her about it). This story was also not mentioned by Wendy K.

Snowfall has a most unusual Fantasy story called The Nightmare Rider. Again not mentioned by Wendy K. Snowfall has two (2) non-fantasy stories that were outstanding. Frills is no longer available on BCTS, but is available on Amazon. The second non-fantasy story is The Station's Late Night Princess.

Thanks

I definitely spaced out on Death Dealers Saga and Dreams of Dancing in the Sky. They are in the top tier. Some others you mentioned I haven't read, but I will now.

Another author I spaced was Lady Dragon. Her interlocking tales of fantasy adventure are becoming epic, Most stories are contemporary with mortal and magical beings with powers and weapons of many eras as I recall. Lots of combat, violence, love, and sex in her stories. She has published an index of sorts to her stories called Interconnected stories.

Obviously I haven't posted an inclusive list of these types of stories.

One of the Best...

...of the adventure-gamers-become-their-characters genre is The Gate to Aragnatha, by Lynn Lafey, on Sapphire's site.

Some solid but unfinished stories: Foxglove, by Bek D Corbin (on Sapphire's); Healing a Princess, by Anistasia Allread, on BC; Ilos, by Tas, on BC.

My favorite long fantasy story here is The Unicorn's Gift, by Sarah Lynn Morgan. It's not an adventuring party story, though.

Fantasy story rec...

I don't know about Room in Hell being considered medieval fantasy, after all, guns and modern armor are used... but there is also "Dim Prisons and Drakes" by that Nagrij fellow. As for how close to Dungeons and Dragons it is, does skirting copyright infringement count?

Brandy DeWinter

Solace, by Brandy Dewinter is very, very good. Also by Brandy - "Milady's Wiles" is classic. Not D&D fantasy, but I know you'll like it

Amethyst's

Alex In Wonderland from her The Greylands Universe, is one of my top choices, Amethyst has also written stories in EoF's The DarkRealms Universe among other stories that would be considered to be of the Fantasy Genre.

As you have a preferance for stories on the longer side, I'd suggest The DarkRealms Universe as there are stories by many authors that are interconnected either by characrers, places, races or situations.

Should Have Included "Alex"...

...on my list of very good but incomplete fantasy serials in my previous note.

You might also want to consider Bailey Summers' Snakes and Ladders. Also incomplete; the person who inspired it -- Wren Phoenix, a writer here -- died a few years ago and Bailey more or less stopped updating it. But like "Alex", what we have is extensive, taking place in a fantasy world that features dragons, where the TG heroine comes from Earth and becomes a leader there, fighting evil invaders.

The closest I can think of to dungeons and dragonsesque is the Foolish Prince by Zapper and Morpheus's Exaliber Principle 1 & 2, but they're not that close.

Beyond that Zapper has a number of other fantasy based series that are worth looking into as does Morpheus.

My Ragnarok Rising stories, Incompatible, Transfigured and Destiny are set on an alternate Earth set in modern times where most of the technology is steampunk-like and the ruling class is made up of female magic-users called Spellbinders. It's all based around Norse (Viking) mythology and revolves around the Norse apocalypse.

Have delightfully devious day,

I forgot to mention...

He meets his ex-girlfriend (a sadistic bitch) who kills him with a fireball. The guy dies in agony, but is revived to replace a Godess's (dead) champion and given the option of returning to the living if he agrees to replace the dead champion. He agrees, but the Goddess didn't mention that he would return as a girl...
