The Arrest of the people or person who broke into my apartment yesterday about 10 am, and Stole my computer, monitor, and polices scanners. All I can offer in reward is a thank you! I'm just glad thats all they had the time to grab they left my APC power supply. Also glad they didn't find the old computer in the box under the table behind my desk or I'd have no computer! and Insurance isn't covering it because of the deductible amount is 500.00
So I am SOL......................

Also glad I backed everything up on to CD's and DVD's Monday night!

What I don't understand is why didn't take the speakers and the keyboard, and DVD player not 10 feet from the computer!

P.S. They Also took my Plastic! Both my Visa and Mastercard are gone so I'm Sorry Maddy it will be about 1 month till I can oder my Drew doll :( .................

I am sorry.

In fact, I am damned sorry about this. I just don't know what I would do with out my computer. It is one bright window in a world that is otherwise black as hell.

I thought you were in England, but in the states, they have these computers called E Machines which are decent enough for about $400 and then the monitors are less than $300. I wonder what you could pick up used? Who knows, perhaps you could get your own computer back that way?

Happened to me about 6 years ago. A wizzo (at the time) Compaq laptop that I'd just got a nice new hard drive and reloaded and all working wonderfully...bam, laptop and few other nicely portable items gone, never to be seen again.

Tied down over ants nest after being liberally covered in honey sounds good. Harsh... but fair, as someone once said.

The show on Discovery, not the movie. I don't know if you're familiar with it, but I watched it frequently and it was quite educational. They left the speakers, keyboard and DVD player because they aren't worth the time to try and fence. They took what they wanted - your credit cards which they can use or sell and the computer from which they probably hope to get more information; bank account numbers and such.

Was your ID with your credit cards? What about your SS card? Is your SS number and other information anywhere on your hard drive? Personal information can be more valuable to a thief than jewelry because they can use it for identity theft. I hope you've already contacted the credit card companies - you should also contact your bank, especially if there was any kind of account info on your computer. It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep an eye on your credit report too.

Wanted.. is now incarserated...............

They caught the crack head with my computer.. and cards. Lucky for me el stupido couldn't figure out how to open the case to pilfer the hard drives and CPU. I put a lock on the case, and no he didn't get my ID or SSI card I had them with me! just left the Maxed out card in my desk! Now we just have to figure out how to secure access to the deck thats 25 feet above the ground!

You lucked out

We are often shutting down debt cards, transfering balances to new accounts and closing old ones, filing purchase disputes to VISA and such due to theft, physical or data from our customers at the bank.

Scott gave you great advice, spot on Scott.

What is more important I am glad you were not physically harmed. I was robbed at gunpoint three times working retail, which is why I went into banking -- who would want to rob one of those?

Your money can be recovered if you act quickly after a loss, your property sometimes, even you peace of mind will heal but you cannot be replaced. Take precautions, secure your windows, maybe get a good alarm service, a steel door and solid deadbolts and so on. Take photos of valuables and record the serial numbers and store that in a safe place. Assist the law in jailing this jerk but when it comes to you VS your posessions, pick you to save.
