Another Christmas

by Joyce Melton

Another year ending,
Another Christmas come and gone.
We learned some sad songs,
And some glad ones, too.

And that's why I'm sending,
To all my friends near and far,
Wishes for a joyful Christmas,
And love for the year that is new.

Another day dawning,
Another song we have learned,
A new world turning,
Its face to the sun.

And now night is yawning,
But dreams are still young.
There's joy even in sadness,
When we know our day is done.

Another year learning,
That Christmas always comes,
We can sing the glad songs,
And some sad ones, too.

And that's why I'm yearning,
That all my friends near and far,
Enjoy a wishful Christmas,
And love in the year that is new.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas

This is the most pleasant Christmas I have had in years. I hope things are pleasant for you also. Thank you for providing a gathering place for those who might not have one otherwise.

Gwendolyn

Thanks Erin!

May all those Christmas wishes come true!

Your sincerity shines

Your sincerity shines through. Have a lovely Christmas, Joyce.

Ban nothing. Question everything.

Hi Erin,

Your poem reminded me of this song. Not meaning anything by it, here are the lyrics; I think they have a nice feel to them:

"Happy Christmas (war Is Over)"

Written by Yoko Ono and John Lennon.

So, this is Christmas

And what have you done?

Another year over

And a new one just begun

And so this is Christmas

I hope you have fun

The near and the dear one

The old and the young

A very merry Christmas

And a happy New Year

Let's hope it's a good one

Without any fear

And so this is Christmas

For weak and for strong

For rich and the poor ones

The road is so long

And so happy Christmas

For black and for white

For yellow and red ones

Let's stop all the fight

A very merry Christmas

And a happy New Year

Let's hope it's a good one

Without any fear

And so this is Christmas

And what have we done

Another year over

And a new one just begun

And so this is Christmas

We hope you have fun

The near and the dear one

The old and the young

A very merry Christmas

And a happy New Year

Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

War is over

If you want it

War is over

Now

Hugs and Bright Blessings,
Renee

Interesting

The John Lennon tune was the last Christmas song I heard before I wrote the poem above. I was actually trying to go for the same feeling without quite hitting anyone over the head. :)

Hugs,
Erin

You did a very nice job, Erin! I would like to join you in wishing everyone here a very Merry Christmas and that they receive only good things in the New Year!

Thanks for Christmas,
Thank you for the love and happiness that's snowing down,
All around.

Thanks for Christmas,
Thank you for the winter friendliness that's snowing down,
All around the world.

It's nearer,
Children's eyes shine clearer now,
As they decorate the trees,
All across the seven seas.

It's nearer,
Yule log fires burn clearer now,
In the winter's frosty air,
Sing with us and we can share our...

Thanks for Christmas,
Thank you for the winter friendliness that's snowing down,
All around the world.

It's dawning,
Santa's reindeer yawning now,
All their festive work is done,
Filling houses up with fun.

It's dawning,
Here is Christmas morning now,
Greatest day of all the year,
Listen out and you will hear our...

Thanks for Christmas,
Thank you for the winter friendliness that's snowing down,
All around the world.

It's such a shame it's only one day every year,
Three hundred and sixty-four days full of doubts and fear
You've been saving your love up,
Let it out,
'Cause Christmas is here.

Thanks for Christmas,
Thank you for the love and happiness that's snowing down,
All around.
