Little .... Buddy?

Little .... Buddy ?

“Skipper, can we talk?”

“We are talking.”

“I have a question but I dont want you to be mad. Can you try not being mad for me?”

“I ... I will try. What’s your question.”

“Well, you remember when I was hypnotized into thinking I was Mary Anne? “

“Yes...so what about it?”

“Its just ... how could that happen? I mean how could I really believe I was her?”

“The professor said you were the kind of person who falls for hypnotism easily. Its not a big deal, little buddy.”

“But ... what if it was more than that? What the reason it worked so well is that part of me wanted it to? I mean, that I wanted to be her?”

“But why would you want to be her?”

“Well, she’s smart, and kind, and she isnt a clutz like me.”

“She’s also a girl, in case you hadnt noticed.”

“A pretty girl. But what if that’s part of what I wanted? What if I wanted to be a girl?”

“Well, what if you did? What could you do about it?”

“The professor and you told everyone to treat Mary Anne like Ginger when she lost her own memory. You could ask the others to treat me like a girl. They’d listen to you.”

“You sound like you've been thinking about this. Is that what you would want?”

“Would you be mad at me if it was?”

“Listen. You are my little buddy, my first mate. If being a girl makes you happy, then I will be happy for you, and do all I can to help you.”

“Thanks, Skipper. I ... I hoped I could count on you.”

“Always.”

*******

And so it came to pass that a new girl “arrived” on the island, and things were a little different after that, for all of them.

Amazing what

a little kindness and understanding can do for a person. Very nice Dorothy, we all need to try to be as considerate as our castaways, rather than casting them off.

Goddess Bless you

Love Desiree

I liked the way you-

put that Desiree! Well said! And very well written, Dorothy! I remember watching way too many of those episodes after school. That wasn't the only TG like scene. Remember the one about the body switching? :)

thanks, Grover

I had forgotten that one.

Mad Docter

I have been told the Mad Doctor and Hypnotist were based on the later "horror/humor" of some American International movies.
I am not sure that is true as a rumor but, from some of the movies like "Dr Goldfoot and the Girl bombs" it is possible.
That the years on that are a little early of close to totally trust them.
But, if it was true, it would be an interest anecdote.

lil buddy

lets all take the 3 hr tour

Gillian's Isle

I guess the fact that I read that in their voices shows how much I watched that show when I was young... :P

I could actually believe Gilligan being in denial of his inner Gillian. It would explain a few things. *smirk*

Little buddy indeed... :)

giggle, angel Lisa

maybe that's why he was such a klutz, and had problems that time when Ginger tried to kiss him ...

I remember someone saying...

Ragtime Rachel's picture

...in the documentary "The Celluloid Closet", that young gay people watching films in the forties and fifties had to read gay content into whatever they could, since there were no overtly gay characters in films at that time. Well, I imagine it was the same for folks like us who watched TV in the sixties and seventies--we were drawn toward anything that could be interpreted as trans.

I remember in particular loving an episode of The Munsters ("Lily Munster, Girl Model", I believe it was). In it, Lily had taken a modeling job, and Herman and Grandpa connive to spy on her disguised as a rich Texan and his sexy blonde girlfriend. Grandpa drinks a formula that temporarily turns him into a sexy woman. That has repercussions in the end-of-episode "tag", when Eddie accidentally drinks the rest of the formula and turns into a little girl. I remember wishing even as a child that he could have spent the entire episode as a little girl. I hated that it was just a throwaway gag.

I also found myself wishing I could get my hands on that formula, too....=)
