Understanding.

My friends told me it would be ok,
you would understand.

My heart told me you love me,
you would understand.

Your laughter told me I made you happy,
you would understand.

Your touch told me you cared,
you would understand.

The years told me we were strong,
you would understand.

The vows told me it was forever,
you would understand.

I told you the truth, stopped the lies,
you didn't understand.

I confided in you and lost it all,
I don't understand.

Sigh...

Andrea Lena's picture

...and crying... Too real and too close and too sad, but I would not have it any other way if I can lean on you as you lean on me. Thank you, dearest of dears.

This is a lovely, painfully lovely poem Jenn

And far too often the truth we face for being, no longing to be who we are without the burden of lying to the world.

I hope this is like a sad song on the radio

,,,even though they're sad, when sad folks listen to it, they feel a little better.
I know that those of us in pain feel better by feeling the kinship with you here, 'Niff.
I also hope that writing it gave you some release.
Love you, **Sigh**

Words may be false and full of art;
Sighs are the natural language of the heart.

Ole Ulfson's picture

We live our lives hiding for a ghostly happiness. Or we reveal ourselves and lose all...

There must be another choice!

Ole

We are each exactly as God made us. God does not make mistakes!

Gender rights are the new civil rights!

that is the problem with choice

Ole,

Sometimes, the choices that affect us the most are not ones that we get to make.

There is also strength in choice. Choosing to be ourselves also means allowing others to choose the same. I find acceptance of their choice a little easier, even when it hurts.

I have been asking myself, do we lose all, or do we gain more than we could ever have imagined?

~giggle~ and another touching piece Jenn. You never cease to amaze me.

Love & Light,
Cassie Ellen

Hugs to Jenn C

I guess you know you are not alone,
but that doesn't change the hurt.

Many who hurt and understand the quiet tone of being left alone.
We don't enjoy your pain but are glad you expressed it.

There is not a rhyme nor a reason that is pleasing
You are and that is that that should be necessary
We don't understand either why it isn't.

Oh Jenn Jenn Jenn!

Sweetie, your cutting to the core of what many feel & fear. One always hopes for understanding, but that hope is fleeting when it comes to those who have not walked in our shoes. We must never give in & give up hope! So girl, chin up, back strait, and walk confidently (in your heels) into the future! (((Hugs))) Taarpa

painful and beautiful

my marriage was over before I came out of the closet, but I totally get where this comes from ...

Thank you

I do thank you for this bit of verse. It begs me to recall the desperation that led to my own choices and for that I am moved and truly glad for your story. I am sorry for my prolonged absence as real life asserted itself for a wee bit of time, but I am hopeful for greater opportunities to read such fine and personal work.

May Your Mind Be Clear

Jenn I love this piece but I must say that it hurts so much. I could see it coming, like a car wreak in slow motion but I couldn't look away. Thank you for your words
