When A Smile Hides A Tear

Printer-friendly version

Perhaps you'll see me sit and smile
Head up, eyes dry, and a grin on my lips
But please don't watch too much

Perhaps you'll hear a soft laugh
Joyful, happy, and kind-hearted
But please don't listen too much

Perhaps you'll feel me touch your hand
Tender, caring, and soft
But please don't feel too much

Because if you watch, you might see a tear
Because if you listen, you might hear a sob
Because if you feel, you would know

Those are the days, when a smile hides a tear.

You deserve no less than all smiles, and no tears hon. thanks for posting.

smiles....

...what some used to call putting 'a brave face on,' or 'laughing to keep from crying.' Very moving and hitting way too close to home. Thanks.

When A Smile Hides A Tear

I think that we all have smiled when we wanted to cry.

The illusionist.

Many people talk of wearing a mask. I don't always see it that way. Perhaps we are both illusionist? This poem is beautiful and well written.
