Dear Mom,

Dear Mom,By Jonelle-Elise copyright 2011

I wrote to Dad, I know he's been gone for years.

It just seemed easier that way. It's not quite that easy with you. You're still here; actually you're right here under my roof!

That doesn't seem to matter.
You're my Mom.
That seems to carry more weight than it should.

I'm your caretaker now.
I know you don't like that;
Neither do I.

I'm not sure I can handle it.

I've been so stressed out by so many things lately; taking care of my own needs has been put on the bottom of the list.

I'm your daughter.

I always have been.

I always will be.

You never knew that. You might've suspected that I was 'different'.

I always knew.

I hope you can deal with this.

I'm not sure I can.

I Love You Mom.

(I thought about one, a despised father showing up on a transwoman's doorstep,
with nowhere else to go, his life and his health and his finances in shambles...
And all the revenge fantasies she ever harbored or how she'd tell him F-off go right
out the window, as she suddenly realizes she WILL take him in, and WON'T mistreat him;
because as hard as he'd tried he'd failed to make her the kind of person he was.)

Jonelle,

ALISON

'sweet and to the point.

Very precious.

I have faith that one day there will come a time when all people, all sexual orientations and sexual identities will be accepted without reservation. This is a wonderful letter, and it says so much between the lines as it does in the lines. Thank you for sharing.
