And They Dance

And They Dance

by Andrea Lena Dimaggio

Longing for the woman's touch...

held tight, surrounded by her love;

taken time and again by her passion

as the woman leads and she follows.

But the man leads even now

holding tight, encircling the woman

as the other watches time and again;

never jealous, but alone.

She longs to be embraced;

gentle hands touching, tickling,

probing gently, but no; never

ever fulfilled but alone.

And now they dance;

grasping tight, protecting,

knowing time and again

and being known.

They dance together,

having become one flesh;

no longer apart but finally

knowing and being known.

May I cut in? she asks.

He is pleased to defer.

The women dance as he smiles from within;

ever knowing and being known.

And they dance.

Morning Mom...

I love this piece. It's so gentle and elegant. There is such a haunting feeling of things never said and done. And yet it isn't harsh in the main character(s) longings.
