Blog About:

The site and Erin really need your help. I just sent in 25 bucks and will probably send a few more after my own bills are paid for this month.

While Erin and the site really appreciate all the help many of you have given in the past, but things are not getting better financially. Erin has driven herself into debt so far that there seems to be no way out. The site needs a LOT of money to give us this wonderful resource and repository for our stories and blogs.

There may be no other way to solve the money problem...except for the one thing that could... and that's to make the site a pay site. I don't want that. Erin doesn't want that and I'm certain most, if not all, of you don't want that, but without a major increase in contributions, it could have to happen.

I completely understand that a lot of you are in dire financial straits and simply don't have money to help. Believe me, it's a stretch for me to even free up 25 dollars, so all the income from sales of my book go straight to Top Shelf. I don't take a single dollar from those sales.

I'm begging all of you to dig deep and help keep this great resource online and help dig Erin out of her own staggering debt. Just one dollar from every member of the site would help a lot... more if you can afford it. One dollar. You can't get a cup of coffee or a can of soda for a dollar. Even a candy bar will cost a dollar!

Erin has put herself 35,000 dollars in debt, keeping Top Shelf online and there's no other way to help her than by all of us digging deep. A one time gift is easy to send by using the link provided on the right side of the home page. Subscriptions to the Hatbox so you can read stories that are ONLY available there is just as easy and you can do that with just a few dollars every month.

PLEASE help me, help Erin, Help keep Top Shelf online!

Again many, many thanks to those who regularly contribute. Without your help I think the site would have folded long ago. For all of the rest of us, it's time to step up. Erin has kept the site online as a labor of love from her to us. It hurts my heart to see her have to beg for money every month, so I'm doing it this time, for her and for the site. So many sites have gone away because of money problems. I don't want that to happen to Top Shelf.

Monthly donation question

I'm retired and on limited income. For the most part I live frugally. However BC is my favorite site on the web. I'm willing to sign up for a larger monthly sum than is listed on the subscription page.

Two questions:
Is it possible to set up a larger monthly subscription?
If my situation changes, is it possible to reduce or stop the subscription?

Subscriptions

erin's picture

Yes, you can stop your subscription. Currently we do not have a way to auto-contribute monthly any amount more than $10. We kept it simple while we got the system working. What other values do you think we should have?

Hugs,
Erin

Financial support by snail mail?

For various reasons I simply cannot contribute by cheque, money order or credit card. But I could send some cash by regular snail mail. But to which address?

Amazon

I made a couple of Amazon orders this month and hopefully some money will make it into the kitty's coffers. One of the problems I have is finding the link, and usually clicking on one of the books at the bottom of the page to get there.
Could I suggest placing the Amazon links in the Hatbox sidebar both as a reminder to use them and as an easy way to find them.

Amazon links

erin's picture

There are Amazon links in the box directly below the Hatbox sidebar. :)

Hugs and thanks,
Erin

Now I see it..

Now I don't.

It seems to disappear when I log in. I thought I was going mad as I was sure it had been there

Disappearing boxes

If a sidebar disappears when you log in, that means you went to your MyAccount and turned it off at sometime in the past. :) Logged in users can turn almost anything they don't want to see off.

Thank you for the reminder.

I just made a donation. Janglewood responded with "A brand spanking sparkly NEW version of HatBox is coming soon. Thank You, Erin, Piper & the BigCloset Band."

I am crossing my fingers and hoping that "spanking" refers to new improvements to the BBS and not to a newly encouraged theme for the stories.

Snerk!

Thank you Willow.

Every gift helps. As for the spankings... well... there ARE some who might appreciate that, not to mention those who might deserve it!

Not sure about the spanking,

I'm rather intrigued by the idea of a sparkly BigCloset Band...

...Will Glenda Miller tell us what really happened on The Chattanooga Choo Choo?

Thanks Julie.

With help from you and hopefully many, many more, we can get past this crisis.

I'm on fixed income, but I sent an embarrassingly small amount via Paypal.
Hopefully, I can do a little more next month.
I try when I am able.
I very much appreciate the site.

Thank you hon.

I'm pledging $100 each month

Those who can will help, those who just can't, can't, that's okay also. It is not fair for Erin to be so in debt, just for our pleasure.

Hugs to all, Karen

Nailed it Karen.

Thank you so much.

That site is for paying for

That site is for paying for things in your shopping cart. Instead, click on "One-Time Gift" above the kitten in the hatbox.
You will get an acknowledgement from Janglewood.
If not, PM me, and I'll try to get it thru.

Karen

Stroked the kitty

Not had a great month at work so far but it'd be a hell of a lot worse without the closet to visit so 25bucks is paypaling its way to ya.

More than 10

I would also like the option of some higher monthly payment setup. I spend lots of time here and get lots of stuff to read. Having a known regular income would, I imagine, be reassuring over in BC accounts.
An irregular payment is being plotted at the moment.

Thank you Podracer.

Whatever you can manage will be just fine. Thanks for your help.

This has actually become a recurring issue as of late, as such, I've done this page: https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/admin-message/70967/supplemen...

Thank You everyone for making such a page necessary! :)

Confession of a Freeloader and An Appeal to Those Like Me...

I have been a fan and avid reader of the stories on the Top Shelf website for more years than I care to admit, yet I'm ashamed to say I have never contributed financially to the site. That ended today. I officially enrolled as a site member and subscribed as a Hatbox member, and I pledge to continue to support the site financially in the future. I truly thank those of you whose talent and imaginations have created the stories here and thru your words allowed me to escape reality and live vicariously in the worlds you create. For those of you who sacrifice your time, talents, and financial resources on this website (particularly Erin), I thank you for your efforts and apologize for being a freeloader all this time. I promise to do better. I also wish to thank those of you who have been supporting the site with your contributions large and small all this time so that all can enjoy the stories posted here.

Now for those of you who, like myself, have enjoyed reading the stories and reaping the benefits of this site without supporting it, I know you are out there. I appeal to you to come to the aid of the site and give what you can. Think about what Catherine said in her post above: one individual is carrying a growing financial burden of over $35,000 to keep this site going for our continued enjoyment! That statement alone stopped me in my tracks, made me ashamed to have gone so long without helping, and prompted me to act. It should for you as well. Please consider doing the right thing and helping out.

Denise1962

Thank you very much Denise.

both for your gift and for your words. It's true. One person, Erin, has virtually bankrupted herself, trying to keep the site online and the bills paid. It isn't fair, but she does it because she loves what she's doing and she loves us.

There are volunteers, some paid, some not. Piper keeps the hardware fed and ticking along, or stumbling along as it does once in awhile.

Thanks again.

$25 sent via PayPal Erin

MadTech01's picture

Sent some money for this month Erin, I did not really have the spare cash the last 2 months but I managed to get my own bills lower so here is some money to help keep the site going.

"Cortana is watching you!"

Thank you so much Madtech.

Every single gift helps alleviate the horrendous debt that Erin is in and helps keep the site online as well.

Sent $50

Just sent $50 by Paypal. Will try to send at least $20 a month from now on. The conversion rate from Australia isn't that good at the moment but hopefully it will get better.
Huggs to all at BC,
Glenda

Thank you very much Glenda

Your gift is appreciated more than I can say. It's people like you that make the hard work that Erin and all the admins do, worthwhile.
