Drabble Saga 24: Honeycomb

Printer-friendly version

Ruby "unwrapped" Davey, or Dee Dee, as she called him when she wasn't calling him "baby," "honey" or "child."

Jewelry, dress, shoes and hose came off but Ruby stopped before removing the padded girdle and corset. Instead, she showed him how to open the crotch to relieve himself without taking things off.

"But, but..." he tried to say.

"And a nice round one you got, long as you're in yo' wrapper." She admired him extravagantly, bullied him unmercifully, and talked incessantly or sang. "Lucky old Frank, he's got a hank o'hair and a hunk o'bone, you a walkin', talkin' honeycomb!"

I'd like to shake Davey and maybe hit Ruby with something, not to mention Larry. But, I guess I'll sit back with a sort of bemused half smile and shake my head slowly side to side.

Did I say this was mad? But you have to smile. I trust they are the hundred I haven't checked but it's not that easy to do, certainly not regularly like this.

Honeycomb

Poor Davy has fallen in with .... You know I don't know what poor DeeDee/Davy has falling in with, lunatics?, the Mob?, crazies? all the above? LOL!

For all those who may not know about hanging hair and calling it Honeycomb here is a link the song I'm familiar with. I'm sure other artist has done their own versions, but this was the first one I heard. As for the "hunk o' bone" that's not in the the song I know! :)

Honeycomb

Not exactly the lyrics, what she was singing; but after all you are talking about a song that was a hit back in, well, I don't know when, but my oldest brother had it on a 45 when he was in high school and he graduated in 1961. The relevant lyrics are:

Oh, Honeycomb, won't you be my baby
Well, Honeycomb, be my own
Got a hank o' hair and a piece o' bone
And made a walkin' talkin' Honeycomb

Honeycomb - ny Jimmie Rodgers

Honeycomb

Thinking of a Honeycomb song made me picture this scene:

Frankie busts into DeeDee's apartment, a.k.a "Honeycomb's Hideout." He says "I'm a BIG-nosed gangster, and I need a BIG bimbo."

(Ruby starts singing and pointing at DeeDee.)
Ruby: "Honeycomb's big!"

(Packy and Larry pop up out of nowhere to sing backup.)
Packy & Larry: "Yeah, yeah yeah!"

(Ruby takes a tape measure to DeeDee's chest)
Ruby: "She's not small!"
P&L: "No, no, no!"

(Ruby gestures across all of "Honeycomb's" curves.)
Ruby: "Honeycomb's got, a big big butt!"
P&L: "Big big tats, and a big big butt!"

Frankie has a taste of "Honeycomb" and gives a big smile to the camera.

Horrid!

Really!

If it's any consolation, I now have that damned cereal song stuck in my head

If you think THATS bad, Jennifer ...

Every time I hear Viva Las Vegas I think of those blasphemous Viagra ads.

Those ads have all the subtle grace of the Pope doing ads for Trojans … Those of you in England read Durex for Trojans.

Arrrrrg!

Next they’ll probably butcher the Sesame Street theme to sell Preparation H.
