This story makes more sense if you read "The Bear Market" first.

The Bear Market

Synopsis:

A new shop has opened in the neighborhood, filled with wonderful plush animals and, of all things, model rockets! Baseball Annie

When the players decide that there is a causal relationship between Andy becoming more feminine and winning games -- all heaven breaks loose.

Bridesmaid, Part 5

I left Julia feeling hollow and confused. Lisa had always been a good friend to me. I mean, I didn't think of her as a sexual being either. She was my best friend. It's not like she, Jim and I went out together. I saw Jim because he lived with her, and we all lived in the same building. I mean, Lisa was as comfortable with my sexuality as anyone.

Author's Note: A nagging plot-bunny chewed on my ankle until I finally broke down and began this tale. Bek D. Corbin's "Joy to the World" has a beautiful scene, which I gratefully acknowledge as the springboard to one of my own below. It also echoes a similar idea from C.S. Lewis in the Narnia series. It is my hope my efforts do justice to the inspiration.

Biographer's Note: This is Nicole's story. It covers those events and people she finds notable in her life and chooses to share. If you have problems with it, take it up with her. I'm just a glorified stenographer.

It Brings On Many Changes

Synopsis:

Suicide is a very dark topic and too real to too many in our community. This story deals with a suicide; but it is far from as dark as you might imagine. It tells the story of a transvestite from the point of view of his wife, his daughter, his mother-in-law, his best friend, a psychiatrist -- and herself. If somehow this story brings you down, I apologize, as it's not written to make that happen.

Wrestling with Discontent

Synopsis:

Judy is the stereotypical wife; she wants to change her husband Pat “just a little” here and there. Her first step is to challenge him to a wrestling match, but things don’t go as she had planned. Undaunted, she continues down a path that twists and turns away from her objective to make him a better man.

Bridesmaid, Part 4

In what wins the “Bad Timing” award, my psychiatrist was on vacation for the first two weeks of my new adventure. I was completely lost. When I started this, I figured I’d dress when I saw Lisa and otherwise would stay me. Yet, I found myself getting lost. I’d forget my name when I spoke to clients. I’d spend twenty minutes in the morning trying to decide what to wear, and not because I was trying to decide which of my new outfits to wear. Rather, it was because I couldn’t decide who I was. I know a lot of people would love to be able to switch but, believe me, when you have to do it, it’s no picnic.

Bridesmaid, Part 3

“Jessica,” I said with a smile. “What do you think?” I said, twirling around.

“Wha...huh...what?” she stammered.

Bridesmaid, Part 2

Lisa reached under the bed, and pulled out a shoe box. "Put these on," she said, handing me a pair of black 2  ½" pumps. I didn’t know they were pumps then, but have since learned more than I ever expected.

Back Home, Again

The plane landed at about four in the afternoon, and Masumi and Miyuki were met by Miyuki's sister, Ruth. Ruth recognized Masumi right away, but had to look twice at Miyuki. She gave both of them big hugs, and in hugging Miyuki, and said, "Mike, your hair it's so nice, and you are gorgeous."

It had been six months since my wife died. I had been devastated, at her loss, but life must go on. I finally started to circulate and go to some community events. The church I attended had a picnic and I was lonely so I went. The entire event was rather boring and I walked around looking at the various booths. Then I saw the young boy who owned the house next to me. We had chatted a few times and he had told me that his parents had been killed in a plane crash last year and he now owned the house and lived there alone. Bobby was playing gin rummy at the card booth and I stopped and watched the game. He happened to look up and see me and his face turned into a great big smile. I sat and watched until he was done.

"Ohmigod, it’s beautiful," I squealed, looking at Lisa’s hand, "And it’s huge! What is it, two and a half carats?"

"Two seven-five," said Lisa, "and look at the cut and clarity. Jim does good work."

The Deception of Choice -Part 3-

Some light is cast onto the general background, but not enough to provide real illumination. And, alas, none appears at the end of the tunnel for David.

Indeed it is generally a rather dark episode; with nothing in it to provide comfort for those who enjoy a happy ending. Although I suppose such depends on your point of view and where your sympathies lie. With the Foundation or with David?

Another Ranma 1/2 Story

Another Ranma 1/2 Story

This is an idea that came to me one day. Ranma, for those who don’t know, is the main character in a Japanese comic story. He is a first rate martial artist who has been cursed. While on a ten year long training trip with his father, Ranma accidentally fell (actually was knocked) into the Jusenkyou Spring Nyannichaun, the Spring of the Drown Girl. Now, whenever he gets covered with cold water he turns into a girl, while hot water returns him to his male self.

But, what if Ranma’s father, Genma, was even dumber than we have been told. What if, instead of heating regular water, he managed to heat…

Read on and see. Anyone who wishes to use this idea, feel free to do so.

Standard Disclosure: The characters of Ranma 1⁄2 are not my own creation, they are the exclusive property of Rumiko Takahashi. The story is mine, but the rest is hers.

I got the idea while listening to the news on the radio, during another grinding commute home from the big city. It seemed a couple in Florida had gotten so sick and tired of their spoiled, neglectful children that they were camping outside their house in beach chairs, refusing to go back to being parents until their brats knuckled under.

The Day I Went Home - Part One
By Barbara Lynn Terry

I am 56 years old. I'm not a real genius or anything, but, I have been toying around with time travel. Something suggested by the Back To The Future trilogy and the series Quantum Leap. I was being helped by a university professor friend I met one day at the campus coffee shop. I was talking to a student who used to live in my neighborhood, until he moved on campus after entering college. We were talking about the Back To The Future trilogy, and pondering on what it woud be like to actually travel through time. This professor was at the next table and heard our conversation.

“Eight years,” I thought as I left Jennifer’s office. “Eight. Years. Eight. Fucking. Years. And she pulls this shit. Who the fuck did she think she was? If I wanted this, I would have gone to a dominatrix. It would’ve cost me a hell of a lot less, and I wouldn’t have wasted all those lunch hours.”

I then reached out to other authors who had created heroic figures with a similar purpose. You will see a series of works attached to this story, all launching off the same assignment detailed in chapter 20. I can tell you we had fun doing it- Tyrone Slothrop
