Giving support as I can

Author, Rating and Tags:

For those who don't know, I have two wonderful 10 year old girls. Yup, they're twins.

Anyway, the two of them went to a friends birthday party tonight and as 10 year olds do, they had a blast.

When I went to pick them up, everyone but my girls had already left. As usual they weren't ready, they and their friend and her brother were too wrapped up in playing. They were playing dress up. They all were dressed as their favorite Disney princess, even the brother. He was made up as Snow White. It was all very charming and I just couldn't help but smile.

"Transgender" Now an Official Sex in Nepal

The final article I came across today was about Nepal listing Transgender as an official sex when it comes to their census. I could wish that the U.S. would do the same.

Missouri Author Wins Award For Transgender Teen Fiction

Author, Rating and Tags:

Looks like a TG day in the news today.

Brian Katcher's 2009 novel, Almost Perfect, has been grabbing attention and awards -- it just snagged the 2011 Stonewall Children's and Young Adult Literature Award.

This story sounds so much like so many we can find right here. It's nice to see a story about a TG teen get an award.

Happy New Year

Author, Rating and Tags:

To all my dear friends here. Happy New Year.

Here's a lovely song that I absolutely fell in love with and I hope you enjoy as well.

The song is "Nella Fantasia" ("In My Fantasy") and is sung by Katherine Jenkins.

Much Love and all my best wishes to everyone here for the New Year.

Translation Below:

Italian:

Nella fantasia io vedo un mondo giusto,
Lì tutti vivono in pace e in onestà.
Io sogno d'anime che sono sempre libere,
Come le nuvole che volano,

Thank you

Last night several things all came together. I was looking over the first couple of parts of my story 'Catwalk Confidence'. The first thing I noticed while looking it over was boy do I need to go back and clean this up a bit. The second thing I noticed was that within the storyline, it has been almost a year since young Alex started writing in his, excuse me, her journal.

Transgender writer Jennifer Finney Boylan comes home to Philadelphia

What an amazing woman she is. I haven't heard of her before, but I think I'd like to check out her books.

Has anyone heard of her or read her books?

Open Door starts Humboldt's first transgender health clinic

I saw this the other day but have only now had a chance to post this. One could hope to see more clinics like this, or at the very least more health care people a bit more sympathetic.

I also find it interesting that this is reported in The Canadian Press and not in any US press.

Transgender Teen Not on Homecoming Court

Well Andy didn't even make the Homecoming Court.

It took a lot of guts to do what she did. It's a shame that the principal didn't have the guts to let her run.

The Magic Eight Ball - They really work!

Author, Rating and Tags:

Last weekend we had our garage sale (I hate garage sales by the way) anyway, my daughters decided that they would try to sell some of their old toys as well.

One of the items they put out was a Magic 8 Ball. You know, you ask a question, shake the ball and look on the bottom for the 'magic' answer.

One of the neighbor kids came over, I think he's around seven. He was checking out the girls Magic 8 Ball and they were explaining it to him. He thought it was great.

Catwalk Confidence Update

If you were wondering what that scream was you heard about an hour ago, it was me.

See at that point I realized that I left (hopefully) the flashdrive with all my stories on it, in my computer at work. At least I hope that's where it is.

As a result the next part of my little story will not be posted until Monday.

Clarification of the definition of ‘poH.

If you’ve discovered that someone stole all of your DVD’s and most of your music CD’s, would that be ‘poH or just a crappy day?

Some days I just want to run away and hide.

Catwalk Confidence Update

Author, Rating and Tags:

Ok all. I posted Part 24 of Catwalk Confidence just the other night.

I really can’t believe the response that I’ve gotten on this story to date. I am totally thrilled by it. I know I don’t respond well to all the comments but I’m trying to get better and do respond to all PM’s.

When I started this story I had no idea what writing would be like. My best analogy is any highly addictive drug. I just can ‘t seem to stop and I’m just as impatient to post as I absolutely love seeing that others are enjoying my tale.

My characters are pod people! Are yours?

I just published Part 20 of my series Catwalk Confidence and I have a few minutes while my characters are distracted to get this information out. This isn't my story! My story took a completely different tract. My characters were different. Alex was really born male!

Farie Tales and What If's

Farie Tales and What If's
By Connie Alexander

There are two basic types of 'Farie Tales'. There's the Disney sweetness and light and everyone lives happily ever after kind, and then there's the Brother's Grimm not always a happy ending type.

Have you ever considered that the only thing that separate the two are the two words "what if"? For example, what if the Singing Sword had missed the mark and the dragon queen had destroyed the young Prince? Princess Aurora would still be sleeping.

Here's another farie tale that has a "what if" ending. I'll begin it as all good farie tales begin, but be warned, this is a sad tale.

Ever the Optimist

I recently came across a “change” machine. Now really wanting to change, I eagerly put in my dollar. Nothing happened. For the better part of an hour I fed dollars to this damn machine. Still nothing happened. It was a complete rip off.

I also think I strained my back hauling fifty-two pounds of quarters back to my car.

What a Friday.

Any bored editors out there?

I'm tossing in the towel, I'm waving the white flag, in short, I surrender.

I've posted a couple of stories here so far and since they've been rather short, I've managed to do the editing myself. However, the latest story I have been working on has decided that it doesn't want to be another short story, it wants to be a big girl. The end result has been for it to reach 60K+ words to date and there is no sign of it stopping.

THE OLD PHONE ON THE WALL.

I came across this story recently and felt that I should pass it on. I found it quite touching. Please enjoy. Blessed Be.
