I see from the list of my stories, that Bike's initial episode has passed 8500 hits. So hardy souls are still taking the long ride to catch up with the present.
After her appearance on Midweek (BBC Radio4) a few weeks ago, she's now in Guardian Weekend - the Guardian's glossy magazine, with a far from flattering photo. Not quite sure what she hopes to achieve apart from explaining how she spent £60,000 on surgery - I'd want a spare body for that, still some of us have to succeed without facial surgery or voice training.
There was a very nice obituary written for this very talented transsexual conductor and arranger, in today's Guardian, link below. She wrote music for the BBC and films, and helped arrange music for such notables as John Williams in Star Wars and Superman.
While I was washing up after dinner, my computer anti-virus software picked up a nasty, which it has dealt with. I have no idea whence it came, any more than I understand the minds which create them. I suspect that they are created by adolescent minds - irrespective of actual age, and are probably male. I'm not sure whether I want to punish them severely or pity them. As no harm was done, maybe the latter this time, on previous occasions it has caused damage and I didn't feel so amicable.
Next episode of Totally Insane should be finished as soon as we can get Kylie out of the loo, she got locked in. Only joking, it's nearly drafted, so should be posted towards the end of the week. So if you're planning a holiday....
Those of you who read my sagas will have observed the regular occurrence of the ersatz complaint, either at the protagonists or by them in a self declaration. I see it in the works of other authors as well, and I've also known it in real life with other transgendered people. It's a very common phenomenon -- the feeling that despite all your inner drivings, you're still different to biological women (or men) and therefore inferior.
I don't know about global warming, because we've had two lousy summers, and we seem to be having something of a mini ice age in the UK at present, with temperatures well below normal.
Sarah Bayen wrote several stories of various types. In my mind, the best were two sequential stories about a school beauty contest and the consequences it had on the boys participating in it.
Neither Bonz nor I can believe you've allowed us to continue this tale for so long. In fact, you've stopped me from finishing it once or twice. So here we are at episode 500, with loads of plot lines to follow, assuming that is the general wish of the readership - all three of you - that Bonzi and I continue boring the pants off you and contributing towards the respite of severe insomnia in some readers.
So we'll keep going a bit longer if required. Until then, from the Bonz and his mum - A Very Merry Christmas to you all.
The Pope has urged the Catholic Church to stop the slide into blurring of sex roles and to stop the destruction of mankind through homosexuality and transsexuality. He rubbishes gender theory which is an artificial concept.
He doesn't however rubbish the myths and fairy tales his whole empire is built on. How much longer have we got to stand by while these out of touch imbeciles pronounce on issues they neither understand nor have any right to speak about?
This story by Dawn De Winter, posted on Crystal's Story Site is one of the funniest around. I first read it years ago, it was posted in 2001 and I've been re-reading it recently.
I honestly don't know if I shall post tonight, I feel quite wretched and my sinuses and eyes are quite painful. I know it's only a heavy cold, but I really do feel yuck. I know I should have a better antivirus program.
Bonzi won't stand in for me, his toes are still sore from yesterday - besides his writing is better than mine and I don't need upstaging by a cat, however clever he is.
I have no problem with adults who want to dress up in school uniforms, but this one went too far and reaped the rewards. This sort of thing must make the British look barmy to the rest of the world. See the link below.
Oh the joys of womanhood! I had to go for my breast screening mammogram today. I should be used to it by now, it's my third one plus an extra last time when they found an anomaly and I had to go to the hospital for further boob squashing.
For those of you yet to enjoy such delights, imagine catching your boobs, one at a time in a printing press, then because you enjoyed it so much, you shut them in the door - one at a time again.
Yeah, the anniversary of me popping into the world. Last year I was on sick leave and did three episodes of Bike. Who would have thought a year later I'd still be writing the bloody thing! I suppose a handful of you like it, so I'll continue a bit longer - but there'll only be one episode today - I'm working all day - actually it feels a bit flat.
Better get off to work (said with unbridled enthusiasm) :(
In many cultures transgendered individuals are reviled, as are those with different sexual orientations to the majority. On the whole, I suspect most of us are more danger to ourselves than to others. I saw a paper which suggests mental illness and self harming, including suicide is higher amongst GLB individuals. It didn't mention transgendered, but I should imagine it's similar for the same reasons, pressures and stresses from the majority to either conform or be persecuted.
I don't generally scare easily, within the bounds of realistic need to take threats seriously. However, last night gave me a sinking feeling. I hoped that the threat to BC was a temporary one, because the trauma to me personally, would be enormous, were it to close.
I am astonished - well all right then, surprised, that there are some hardy souls who are prepared to start with episode one of bike. I read it through just under a year ago, which means there's about three hundred more episodes than there was then. It took me a couple of days or more. To read 463 episodes, is a major undertaking. I wish them luck, when I was last informed it was about 600,000 words and longer than Tolkien or Tolstoy.
90 years ago today the Armistice was signed, ending the Great War. It was carnage on a scale not known before, where over a million British Servicemen and women perished, many in the mud of the Somme. It is perhaps beyond our imaginations to realise how awful this must have been, dealing with daily shelling, the cold or heat, constant sniper fire, poor food, lice, disease and boredom. Then if you cracked under the stress of it all, your own side would shoot you as a coward.
Have you noticed that the list of users now includes everyone? It's a much better idea than the previous shorter list, although I'm not sure about being called a user--it implies some sort of addiction. Oh, maybe it isn't so inappropriate.
Angharad (as an author does that make me a pusher, as well?)
I'm not entirely sure what to make of this column. Julie has an unfortunate habit of upsetting transsexuals, and I'm not sure she breaks it with this one. See link below:
