Well, news update.   I am 53 pages into this story and writing frantically.

With everything we are learning about the human brain and stem cells, how long will it be before someone finds a way to change your mind?

New research also tells us that women only use one of the two X chromosomes in their DNA, and have the ability if something triggers it, to repair the DNA by copying the good X chromosome, replacing the damaged X.

What a facinating world we find ourselves in these days.

X Chromosomes

The deal with the x-chromosome is more complicated. Each cell is using only one x-chromosome but it isn't necessarily the same one as other cells are using. This is why there are tortoise shell cats. :) CAts have their major coat color on the sex chromosome, so some cells will use one X and some a different one.

But it's even more complicated than that! LOL.

Thanks Erin,Yes it is more

Thanks Erin,

Yes it is more complicated than that, the Xis protein is activated to repair the X chromosome by using the information on the other X to fill in where the Damage occured.

Thy Y Chromosome repairs itself using palindromic orientations, or a mirror copy within itself.

The female XX has one inactivated X chromosome. X-inactivation requires a locus on the X chromosome, called an X-inactivation center. Inactivation occurs responding to a developmental cue, which is normally present only in specific stages of embryo development. Inactivation occurs because of a specific type of RNA, which attaches to one X chromosome, preventing transcription of the genes of that copy. Additionally, enzymes add methyl groups to the DNA of the inactive X, resulting in repression of transcription and form a Barr body.

But I didn't think all of dat would fit in a little blog note so good.

I did however put it in dah story.

And that's not even getting into the battle of the sex chromosomes in XY types. :)
