Just a question for you all. I am considering publishing here the speech I will give at church on Sunday, and I wonder if I should do so as a "story" or a "blog"?

DOESN'T MATTER WHICH

It doesn't matter which, as long as you post it people will get to see it. Since it really isn't a story though... I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions. But, when I gave my speech to gender diverse teens, I posted it as a story because it is easier for people to find and locate at a later date. Personally, I think you should have posted it much sooner so you could get feedback, that's why I posted my speech. Doing it the day before and on a saturday when readership and oomments on the site are down, is going to limit feedback.

It depends

Is it a story or a parable like learning exercise?

If its a story then post it as a story... otherwise....

Or if its religious dogma then post it somewhere else and make a link people can follow if they like that sort of thing.

post it elsewhere? why? Because you might be exposed to someone's belief system. If Dorothy marks it as a speech for church I think that is enough warning for everyone who has a bone to pick with Christianity. I have an entire apologetic on this site and I wouldn't dream of moving it.

Blog

Dorothy and I spoke about this one. I am quite open about my atheism, but I also write religious people and sermons for my tales.

This isn't a story, so it should not go up as one. It concerns religion, but it is very pertinent to the 'trans experience'. It should go up as a blog, because it is a record of one member's experience in transition. That makes it relevant to the rest of us.

There is a world of difference between some of the posts that Erin occasionally removes, where one person Tells The Truth in a hectoring way about everything from global warming to cyclists, and a simple account of somebody's life.

Dorothy isn't writing "This is what to believe" but "This is what happened when I tried to explain who I am to fellow believers"

Looking forward to the account. What you should do, Dorothy, in my opinion, is post both what you said and what the reaction was.

It can work either way.

I too think either will be fine. Personally, if it is a story within a speech, even a personal story of your own experiences, I would post it as a story. If it is more of a speech that relates facts or discussion points that does not have story elements, I would use a blog.

But I really don't think it makes much difference. I'm sure it will be accepted here in any format. If you use the story format though, you might want to think about adding some kind of "religious" tag, or you may get some unwanted feedback from the wrong crowd. Fortunately, I haven't seen much of that at all on this site in my short time here.

Good Luck!

Having already seen it...

I'd say as a blog. Simply because of its length. It's no so much entertaining as interesting. It's good to see that our sisters are being recognized as valuable outside our little cloister here.
