my adventure in the hatbox

As some of you know, as a consolation prize for my entry in the last contest, I won a freebie visit to the hatbox, so I took advantage and read as many of the stories as I could.

Most of the ones I read were okay, but there was one that really stood out - "Sky". It tells the story of a teen who comes out as trans, following in the footsteps of another trans girl named "Peaches" whose story "Sky" is a sequel to.

What made the story memorable for me is that Sky isn't your story-book trans girl - at least initially most people cant imagine how she can possibly pass, much less be pretty.

Even though the story is mostly told from the prospective of "Peaches", a trans girl who is petite, pretty, and had breasts, the story does cover the harder road that Sky has to travel by not having any of those advantages.

For obvious reasons, I can relate more to a girl like Sky than I can to someone like Peaches - if you saw pictures of me as a kid you wouldn't probably think "what's that girl doing wearing boy clothes?", but I think I'm every bit the girl as any who might "pass" better than I do.

Ah, well.

Angela Rasch does great work.

There's a reason she's one of my favorite storytellers on the site.

As for passing, well, there are more important things than just how you look when it comes to passing. Stories you've told on the site lend credence to the idea that regardless of appearances, you always were an obvious girl :P

Thank you Melanie! You're one of my favorite PEOPLE on BC.

I'm pleased that someone has read "Sky" and enjoyed it.

I've written a new story for Hatbox. I will upload it when Erin gets a break from fixing the site. The new story is quite different from anything I've done before in that it involves age regression.

My problem

My problem was that when I went to the Hatbox there was only 1 story an I had read it once before. I'm glad new ones were posted there.
