Do I or Don't I?

I am thinking about self publishing my stories (No, I will not stop posting them here) ;) I am also thinking of building a website to go with it.

Once upon a time I used to have a rather popular website with many helpful tips for CD's and TS's. It was also filled with lots and lots of pictures of myself and my friends but I no longer feel the need to brand everything with my face since it would scare others off. :)

I am not sure I will self publish or build a page but if I do (and I am leaning heavily toward I will), I am wondering if I should put those tips back up? I remember having people I had never met walk up and tell me how they had printed out my tips and they kept them with their 'secret stash'. That always made it worthwhile for me.

But that was almost 10 years ago and there is alot more internet now compared to back then and there are infinitly more places to find help than there used to be. The reason I initially did it was because I didn't know of a single site with that information on it. Now you can find all kinds of youtube videos as well as individual blogs on the subject so my voice would be lost in the crowd.

I am torn.

I would say, do what your heart tells you.

If you truly want to help and feel like the info you have can help someone else, then by all means, post it up. There can't be too many sites with tips for helping people deal with the issues that arise from being Trans... so the more, the merrier.

As for self publishing, I'd say GO FOR IT! Your stories are certainly quality works, and the more works we have out there in dead tree format, the better the chances that someone not familiar with being trans, will get a better idea of what we really are and be entertained in the process.

Just let us know when they will be on the shelves so we can go out and buy one... or several.

As for scaring anyone with your face... I doubt it seriously. It's a nice, attractive face from what i've seen. You might get proposals or fan mail or fan males?

Do as you feel is right for you.

As to the self-publishing? If there were ANY indication that my stories would make me some money - you bet your sweet ... Um ... Something I would post them on a 'for pay' site!

with love,

Making your own website is probably the best if you are self publishing. You have control of the website and can post all your stories and have the website act almost like a portfolio. You can also link to other sites that have your work as well as possibly getting links from that site to your own.

As for the tips, I would say its a great idea. No tip or trick out there is the same. Not everyone operates the same ways so one person might find a tip on a website extremely helpful while another person might look at the same tip and go "huh, that's interesting! *tries tip* This does not work for me!" so having more tips on the web is a fantastic idea that I think you should do.

I'm glad you did

The 5 books you currently have on Amazon under S. E. Bell are among my favourites. I have reread them many times. I have only just discovered that you also post here.
