is in hospice care as I type this. According to the best information I have right now, she is not expected to live much longer unless hospice care can bring her back.. Apparently the cancer was worse than we knew. This might be the hardest thing I've ever had to write.

Regardless of your religious affiliations or beliefs, would you all please offer up prayers or best wishes for one of the best people I've ever known? Holly has done so much for all of us writers and she knows we love her, but there isn't anything medical science can do for her now, All we can hope for is a miracle and prayer has been known to accomplish amazing things.

If I must beg, consider me on my knees in tears.

Holly

littlerocksilver's picture

Holly has been a great friend and a great help to me over the years that I have been here at BCTS. If it hadn't been for her, I probably would not be writing, or at least not writing coherently. We are losing a great friend and motivator.

Thank you, Holly, for everything. I will miss you so much.

Many prayers

Holly,

You've been a dear and valued friend for years.

Know that you're fervently prayed for and dearly loved.

May you have strength, peace, and comfort.

BigCloset Picnics

Holly organized the BigCloset picnics in the Bay Area two years in a row. I wish we could all get together for her one more time.

We love you, Holly.

A very good friend

Holly is one of a few people on this site that I met when she lived in California. She edited many of my stories, but more important she was a friend. The first time I met Holly, I helped her move from San Jose to Walnut Creek. Moving sucks, but Holly made it a fun day. I love that girl to pieces and will miss her dearly when I can no longer converse with her. All my love and prayers to a very dear friend, Arecee

How can any of us repay the kindness you showed us, hang in there old friend.

Biggest and most

Gentle of hugs. Holly has done so much for so many I don't anyone could ever count them all. I've learned how to improve my own poor scribbles so they're at least readable because of her patient and in-depth editing.

Please we're here for you.
More hugs

Holly

My thoughts and prayers are with lovely Holly tonight.

She has helped me on many occasions with the editing of my stories and she gave me encouragement when I needed it. I like her kindness and her wit and her ability to help others when her health has been a major problem for her.

This is very sad news and I hope that she is being well looked after, as she so certainly deserves.

My prayers

Join those of others here for Holly. We do love you and will sorely miss you.

Hugs,

Maggie

This is sad news...

I do hope she can pull through, but if not, that she knows that there were those who loved and cared about her and that many of us appreciated the things she did.

My prayers and good thoughts

My prayers and good thoughts are with you, Holly.

{I leave a trail of Kudos as I browse the site. Be careful where you step!}

I've been praying for her

Even in the condition she is in, she recently offered to edit another story of mine, if she had the time left. What a great friend she has been to many here. I'm praying for the best possible outcome!

Blessings Holly

I've known Holly several year, worked with her in her Kitchen in Jose, and spent some time with her in Indianapolis. Holly you were a blessing in my life and I hope that I helped you also along the way. It never mattered if I was Muslim, or Mormon or what. May your passing be swift and peaceful. May you go into the arms of the one who created us all. I know that he will love you.

Much peace

I've corresponded with you off and on over the years. You've always been very nice and helpful. I wish I could return the favor somehow but all I can do is hope for the best for you.

Holly has been nothing but kind to me and a tremendous guide in helping me become a better writer. I stand amazed at all the folks here who she has helped and touched in some way by her actions and guidance. I truly hope she will pull through and I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

Have delightfully devious day,

Keep her safe.

Holly has been there for so many of us.
So please keep her safe.
For that that guides us, looks out for us.
Please pay Holly a little extra attention.
She can have mine for awhile I'm good.
I don't need it as much as she does.
Just keep her safe.

*Great Big Hugs Holly.*

Holly is Wonderful!

Frank's picture

She helped me on my first and most normal(?) story for one of the Xmas contests years ago. I had the pleasure to chat with her on Yahoo and PM on here over the years. She's just incredibly nice and smart as hell to boot.

I hope she is well enough to read these or someone is reading them to her...

Please tell Holly we are so sorry

My mom entered hospice in Jan/Feb 2005 and died in June that year. She was not quite 79.

Whatever god or goddess you believe in may they ease your passage from this life, dear Holly.

For me, I will quietly cry.

This is NOT fair.

I will be offering prayers,

I will be offering prayers, as Holly is someone who has always been important to me. I even had the privilege to spend an afternoon in San Francisco with her right after my grandfather passed away a few years back. She is a wonderful person, regardless of anything else.

Heart Goes Out

My heart goes out to her and all helping her at this time. Thoughts and prayers to her!

Could you please stop dying?

Could you please stop dying? The in memoriam list has way too many people on it that I knew, talked and worked with. :( I really hope Holly will be alright...

Why always cancer and why always too late? :(

So you all know,

Shelley, Holly's housemate, has told me that she will copy the comments on this thread and print them out and then take them to Holly to read.

This news deeply saddens me....

All though we've never ment, I'm sure I've read one or two (hundred) stories she's had a hand in making much better for us all. So I to offer my hopes and prayers for her to once again walk among the living, a picture of perfect health! Holly dear, please continue to fight the good fight for you" ARE LOVED" by so many here hon! Biggest of Big Hugs, and Prayers, Taarpa

Touched so many

Holly has touched the lives of so many here on BC. I hope we can all touch her life in the same way and give her the strength to win this battle. Love ya, hon! <3

"Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.”
George Carlin

I never knew Holly,

I never knew her though I skyped her once and only ever messaged her a few times here on BC. The truth is, she seemed so busy helping so many authors, I felt it was unfair of me to ask for any help and thus add to her obviously busy workload. Consequently I never really got to know her. The only thing that is abundantly obvious is that she touched many lives here on BC and all for the better.

All I can do is wish her good luck and hope she pulls through.

Good luck girl.

Prayers Lifted For Holly

jengrl's picture

Prayers are being lifted for Holly. I have faith that God can heal her. I have another friend who is in much the same circumstances as Holly. The doctors didn't give her 3 months to live and that was 3 years ago. She is battling for her life and I know that prayers have gotten her this far. I believe in miracles. Holly is an amazing woman.

Sad...

Sad it's come to this. Though, I know of a number who recovered (some) while in Hospice care. She corrected quite a number of errors in my early episodes of "Hidden Gifts".

I wish her (and those close to her) the best of wishes.

God bless you Holly

Ole Ulfson's picture

We met online less than a year ago and wanted to get together. At least I did: Still do. I've been praying for you almost all that time. I won't stop! I'm sure God is with the wonderful person you are.

Voices are being raised to heaven on your behalf: God bless you Holly...

Ole

I feel like we have only just met

and there is only so much time for all of us. Your work here has always been outstanding and you are a kind hearted soul. You need to get better and come help us teach and train our newer authors :)

*sigh*

My heart and prayers are with you hon. I do hope some miracle can occur and you will be restored to full health.

You are much loved and much needed. They just don't make people like you anymore.

Praying for Holly

I'll add my prayers to those already in prayer for Holly. Holly is a wonderful lady and I count my life richer for having met her and spent some time at a Southern Comfort with her.

Jo Dora Webster

I Met Holly...

...at the second Bay Area picnic (which I wouldn't have attended without her encouragement) and she beta-read my one story posted here.

Of course, she edited a number of stories here that I've read and enjoyed.

Thanks for being here, Holly.

Best, Eric

Heavy heart...

...weighty like a stone
Familiar, and yet so barely known
You lifted, labored, loved, and lived
Your time you gave, our hopes prized
Rest you now, to live or pass
For knowing you, ours is a well-filled glass.

If you may return, we'll welcome you with gladness, Holly, and if not, may your passing be gentle and as welcome to you. Return or leave forever, know that we love you, and are so very grateful for your touch upon our lives.

Get well soon, Holly

I don't know Holly that well, but I would like to send my thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery in her direction.

Get well soon, Holly.

Holly...

...I am sending along my best wishes and prayers that you will get better and be able to rejoin and see your family here at Big Closet.

Holly Didn't Let Me Tell You

As of the last time I discussed letting me tell the general public here at BC/TS she requested that I don't post a message. I have followed her wishes and with everything happening at present haven't had a chance to discuss it again.

Holly has received a printout

will be reading the comments over the near future.

Note: her disease is such that she sleeps a lot, sit it may take a few days for her to read the comments.

Note: she had a bad day yesterday (8/12) but seems better this morning.

Shelly

Thank you Shelley.

please pass along all our hugs and love to Holly and assure her that we are all praying for her recovery. I'm sure that our hugs are for you as well.

Holly

I've known about this awhile ,when i got the call from Shelly and talked to Holly ,when they were ready to choose a hospice .I didn't know what to say then either.Holly has been a inspiration to many in our community and helped many people in more ways then many are aware of .I keep thinking there is always hope in cancer after a aunt lived 25 yrs after a 6 month diagnosis but we can only hope and pray that she pulls through this .There is no logic in why some people that give the most to others pass before there time ,but if this is her time then she will still live in our hearts .
My greatest wish beyond her recovery ,is that one very special person ,who will remain nameless here ,returns to her side at least one last time. She gave so much of herself always to others that she cared about most .Those sacrifices should never be cheapened by abandonment at a time that she needs them most
Go to her before its to late and gnaws forever at you ,as is known it will
