Brooke posted this at TG Groups today. For anyone who is into the high fantasy thing or Dungeons and Dragons this is very funny. I guess it's not really TG, but it does make fun of Gender in a fantasy context.

enjoy!

Yes that is sort of TG

And what made it twice as funny was at our PFR game today, somebody made a joke based on this very idea. :)

LotRO

We make the same kind of jokes in Lord of the Rings Online. On the character creation page you can select Race of Man, Elf, Hobbit or Dwarf. For the races of Man, Elf and Hobbit you can select whether you want a male or female character. For race of Dwarf there is only Dwarf since by lore female Dwarves are indestinguishable from male Dwarves by any of the other races. However, for the race of Elf, if you put a dress on a male Elf they do look like females :) Males of the race of Man or Hobbit however, if put in a dress usually look like Jerry Springer guests.

There are people who do portray their Dwarven characters as females though. As a LotR lore junky I have problems with that. I don't care if a player conciders their Dwarven character to be female. However, if they had any understanding of the lore they would keep that to themselves as like the Dwarven language that is a closely held secret. Especially concerning female Dwarves. According to the lore only 1/3 of the Dwarven population is female and less than 1/3d of them ever get married.

I like Terry Pratchett's take

I like Terry Pratchett's take on dwarves myself. Let the Dwarven sexual revolution begin with bows in her beard and chain-mail lingerie!

LOL

Or should I say "Groan"?

I was thinking of something primmer, prissier, and with more potential pleasure for many of us: Pretty Fantasy Roleplayers. Does it mean roleplaying at being pretty, or mean only roleplayers who are pretty are welcome, or maybe there is a pretty fantasy and they roleplay it? Maybe it's a team's name? That letter F in the middle is suggestive of other acronyms, too. Naughty ones.

If the thread is dead (that's what I said) that makes this post...undead?

Please do come back to this thread at least once more though? Because I have meant to tell you something for a looong time and this is a good random time to do it, and since we're both here, now is probably best: Thank you for the chapter name, 'Careful With That Axe, Eugene'. By the time you got to that chapter (a brave one and a good one, btw) I had given up on you being aware of that song. I love that song. And your reference.

Whenever I hear Kate Whatshername of the B-52s sing, I think of Valerie. Lucky Val!

Chapter 24

maybe there is a pretty fantasy and they roleplay it?

There is something nasty in my mind here, but it's not coming out. Something like beauty pageants or high school or something. *bangs head* It's still in there somewhere...

If the thread is dead (that's what I said) that makes this post...undead?

That's why I'm

The song title just screams for inclusion, doesn't it? I kind of like the song, too; but, alas, I'm less of a psychedelia fan and more of the pomp-rock crap of the 1980s. Sucks to be me... Now, what I haven't been able to use as a title yet, and I like the song, is "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict". There really ought to be (in moral terms, not like I misplaced it and it should be around here somewhere) an episode I can use that with... though, I have NO idea what it could contain.

BTW, Chapter 24

BAHAhahaha!

Hey, do dwarf anti-establishment teens (both) wear little goatees?

Ellen, 22nd level Necromancer of Threads

According to Tolkien,

no Dwarf have been seen as there are very few and stay home.

I don't think there's a saving role for this situation (pun intended)!
