That's one big storm up in New England! We've got an inch and a half of snow on the ground here in Southern California from it!

weird
i lived in SoCo for about 6 years, so i know how strange it is to even see snow that melts when it hits the ground. For it to actually stick and accumulate to a full inch and a 1/2 .... Hell must have frozen over...
Roads closed
They've actually closed roads in and around Boston. No parking on the street. They will let us look out the windows, though.
Exactly 8 years ago I had training near Boston.
And it was above freezing on average for two weeks. I spent couple of days in Boston itself and during a day it was above +10 C. But funny thing was that couple of times in couple of days temperature suddenly dropped by 10-15 C with gale strength wind and snow. Central Boston coffeshops had best days of the year :-) I'm still to se more crowded coffeshop in my life :-)

well its been snowing here since last night. winter has made it to Canada!the only thing i will hate is taking the snow thrower out to clean up and find a place to put all this snow. they say we will get 25cm eh thats a typical day here so Bonzae!(dives in to the snow and makes snow angels )

Just some rain and slightly cooler temps to high 60's. I don't miss the snow at all.

And I'm sure you have snow plows at the ready down in south California :-)
We had snow fall couple of days ago and news tried to insinuate that it was heaviest snowfall in hundred years while I remember dozen heavier snowfalls in last five years.
So anyway, snowfall is OK if you have proper tyres :-) If not, chains help a lot also. And in any case it's winter in northern hemisphere. It's normal to have snowstorms. It's much easier and safer than typhoons in pacific ocean :-)

Here in lowlands (Corona) it's just making wet. Snow level is about 2500 ft. Erin lives on top of mountain (which can be seen from Corona :-) ) that is over 5,000 ft. At that point rain becomes solid and is known as sNOw (aka white s**t) and is to be avoided at all costs! hahaha Erin, stay warm and dry.
Mt. San Gorgonio
San Gorgonio is over 11000 feet high but I live at 2600 ft. and the snow level came down to 2200. We eventually got about two inches but it rained and turned it all to slush. It's going to be pretty tomorrow with snow on the mountains and bright sun and temps of about 50 in midday. According to the thermometer on my porch, its 30F outside right now.
BTW, you can drive up Mt SG almost to the 9000 foot level. The Big Bear resort area is on the north slopes and I bet they are happy up there with all this snow.

probible shut down all mass transit and airport plus making a mess on the roads. Those Californians can't even drive in fog much less snow

heh, and I was sweating my back side off outside at work today. Please box up all that snow and mail it down to texas. Of course it's not really fair that for us to get any kind of cold weather the northern part of the country has to turn into a block of ice, but Maybe it's offset by the fact that for y'all to get a nice hot summer day we have to fry.

My Cousin In Norwood MA
measured 14 1/2 inches on the ground at their house at 11PM. I would say my aunt and uncle in Nashua, New Hampshire have almost two feet at their house. I heard there are widespread power outages in New England too. I am glad I only visit up there in Summer. I hope everyone stays safe up there this weekend.
A few feet have fallen
... and it's still snowing. I'm wondering whether the snowblower can handle it, or will just sink into the whiteness.
Power went out last night at 9, came back on at 5 this morning, so it wasn't bad - we just went to bed early and slept through it.
One thing that's interesting to me is how bright it is outside, and was all night, even when there were no lights, and there's no moon. Even when the power was out, there was enough light reflected off the snow (from who knows where) to navigate the house in the "dark".

The snow has almost stopped falling here. I was one of the lucky ones in my county not to lose power. I haven't started the snowblower up to clear the driveway yet, but the governor closed all the roads so there's no hurry.
