This is a truly beautiful programme, though I know many people outside the UK cannot decode it without some trickery.
If ever anyone wanted to see what Steph'n'Geoff or Steve and the Toffs enjoyed, this is it. The farmer (whom I know slightly) has the most wonderful Gog accent, and the TG link is provided by the poet Twm Morys, son of Jan, who was James...

There are ways to get round it, but I am no IT expert.

Fabulous country.

Lovely programme Steph and the backdrop is unsurpassable, especially to Welshmen (and women).

Yes I spent many an hours pure therapy up there repairing my life though sadly, I might be included amongst those 'climbers' who damaged walls by climbing over them. I wasn't in the best state of mind when I wandered about. If I did obvious damage by dislodging stones, I tried to replace them but sometimes a black mood was upon me and I just forged ahead regardless of what I left behind me. (Sorry Snowdonia and you farmers who live there.)

I also knew to close gates when I found them open, especially in fields where there were sheep-doors left open by the farmer in the dry-stone walls. I remembered a tiny bit about my first six years living in the country.

Despite the weeks I spent just wandering about, I never got to know anybody cos' I was savouring the isolation and freedom the mountains lent me. I was a tramp and I looked like it despite having money in the bank from the ship. It was my appearence I think that got me refused a night in The Snopwdon Ranger hostel!

Nevertheles the sheer rugged beauty of those mountains will stay with me and occasionally recharge my batteries even today. Below is a picture taken this summer of my son on the summit. I took the piccie but I'm afraid we cheated and took the train. My wife is not as fit as I am and suffers severely from Athritis. Believe it or not she had never been up Snowdon!

Scenes

There was one long shot of Crib Goch on a sunny day that made me want to get up there...

I loved the farmer's comment: 'I used to shout at them to get off my land. Now I want them to come, and learn, and leave something behind. Like a cheque"

Oh, and Johnny: that haircut is awful. You were much better looking with the short hair.
