Some of us...

Have been working on this. No further comment allowed.

Thank you!

For your hard work!
Nice ceremony! Hopefully it will not stop on 5 seconds of screen time given to TG's...

I think...

...she's entered the stadium in the athletes' parade - I just caught a reference to her in the commentary, but by the time I'd darted around the corner into the lounge they'd moved onto the next country.

Flag

She was carrying the SA flag. There has been a massive argument over intersexed people, and the crux has been on testosterone levels. The various committees have been arguing about allowing them to compete as women provided their hormone levels are 'normal', but they have been very...remiss in defining what exactly is 'normal', and so there has been no clear way forward.
Whatever. She is here, she is competing. Satisfies me.

On the other hand, there have been 100 arrests of cyclists on the Critical Mass ride.

I quite enjoyed

EIIR saying, "Good evening, Mr Bond," then jumping out of the helicopter to parachute into the Olympic stadium. Good job she didn't come to Weymouth to do it, she'd have drowned.

The old girl obviously has a sense of humour, good for her.

Angharad

With help from current 007 anybody can...

... jump from helicopter into olympic stadium :-)
But it was cool that she allowed this kind of use of name for the Olympics!
(Arctic Monkeys played nicely... And lots of cyclists on the stadium look realy cool even with "Come together" soundtrack.)

Opening Ceremony

All power to Danny Boyle for a magical opening ceremony. The young athletes lighting the flames at the end was inspirational.Well done London and the 15000 volunteers who worked so hard.

Spectacular

I did have a few minor niggles (namely I wished the pre-industrial revolution sequence had been longer, late '90s BritPop was surprisingly absent from that sequence, the TARDIS materialisation sound was heard without any follow-up and in a sequence with Mike Oldfield and children, they omitted one of his most iconic tunes), but otherwise absolutely brilliant!

In addition to the young athletes and the unique cauldron (I wondered what those copper kettles were for!), a rather smug looking speedboat pilot, a temporary additional member of the London Philharmonic, and HM (plus several corgis) appearing in a 007 sequence. Not to mention a featured appearance by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, and another knight of the realm leading his traditional concert finale (Na, na na, na-na na na, na-na na na...)

I think...

Stan was referring to the two TGs mentioned in the OP, rather than Sir Tim, Liz Windsor or Daniel Craig!

I've no idea who they are and probably wouldn't be able to spot them without a time reference - but surely that's the way it should be, participating in the ceremony without special attention being drawn to them.

Meanwhile, in other noteworthy occurances, apparently the (in?)famous lesbian kiss on Brookside (the former Liverpudlian soap) featured in the house projections during the "Social Revolution" segment; and of course this is the first year the IOC has persuaded every participating nation (including those in the Middle East) to send female athletes in their delegation. Hopefully we'll see increased representation at the 2016 Summer Games in Rio (although probably not the 2014 Winter Games, given that Iran was the only country in the region to participate in the 2010 Games).
