My week has sucked immensely because from Tuesday until Friday I was in a VA hospital being treated for kidney stones. I had one that was moving, that was really huge and a veritable zen garden in my kidneys, just not trying to get out. I had stents put into place and they are trying to find a time to put me on the surgical schedule. Loads of fun.

I am totally wiped out, ache everywhere, following Drs orders and just tired of this stuff. There is a reason that I get disability for these things. Just wanted to let you all know that I am kind of out of it right at the moment, too tired to do much of anything else. I did figure that some of you might like to know.

I Had A Small One

I had a small stone, and was in great pain, until it passed. Hopefully, never again. Feel. Ether.

RAMI

My heart goes out to you.

I've had 10 stones requiring surgery either to relieve pressure or to extract the stone.
I have a scar that goes from my spine around my body to my 'bikini line' in the front center.
I've had a dozen more that eventually 'passed'. [edit. Oh and I've had a surgery to surgical hernia and a piece of a 'stent' that was left behind from that body wrapping scar.]

Everytime I go in I get given demerol. Demerol has the effect of relieving my intense inhibitions... in a word... I become a shameless flirt!!! You try that while pre-transition and it gets a bit awkward... none of the men that came near me were safe!

Its kind of wierd... my first stone scared me sooo bad. Now I'm blase' about it.

So my heart goes out to you. I know what its like and although its not as bad as stretching your lips over your head (Carol Burnet's description of labour pains) it does hurt you. And its soo damn scarey and there is NO position you can get even a little relief.

Again. My heart is with you.

Dayna.

I hope you feel better

They are really painful and I thought I might be dying when I it happened. My thoughts are with you.

Pain from Hell

I have had too many friends with those, though I have been spared.

I truly want you to get better, and if you don't mind me saying, I do not want to feel your pain on this one.

Have the medical types given any sort of advice for what kind of liquids to take or (more importantly) avoid?

I am sitting here at my station with a rather large cup I usually keep filled with water. It one of my few good habits.
