Well, last night, before I went to work, my mom let me know that my ex mentioned reading my letter when she dropped off Sam after having her for the day. Mom said that my ex's only comment was, "Well, he'll always be Todd to me." If that's the wost that comes out of this, its a pretty darn good result.
Then, I got to work, and my supervisor passed on a compliment from the day staff in the fashion department . He said they had said, "Can we keep her?" So that made me feel pretty good.

Sounds a good day
I'm glad you had such a good day Dorothy. Fingers crossed the good days only continue. :-)
"Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life."
Great news
You hoped but never expected her to accept Dorothy. That she did not rant, rave or threaten you regarding your daughter, is fantastic. At this point you truly can't expect more. Now that she read THE letter, and did no t loose her cool, you can start baby steps for more.

BIG NEWS!
That's great, Dorothy! I know you were stressing about how she would react, and whether she'd flip and not let you see your daughter. And even the "always be Todd to me" reaction can lead to changing her mind as she gets to know and accept the real you.
Nice to be appreciated at work, too. Especially by the fashion department. :P You go, girl.
