Job seeking

Printer-friendly version

I had my rejection letter in the post this morning.

I was kinda expecting it, I fluffed one of the questions (the first one!) but guessed there would be others more worthy applying for the job. I'm not running myself down, just being a realist. What I wanted from the experience, assuming I didn't get the job was some honest feedback from the manager so I could use it as a test run for the next interview.

I sent her an email and had a response a few hours later. They did indeed say that I had fluffed the first question, where I was asked for the "Aims & principles" of the organisation. Otherwise I scored evenly with all the other top candidates bar one who gained an extra point on one question.

Apparently I was one of only 3 who passed the IT test (a search, some WP and a spreadsheet).

Anyway, I had also asked the manager if she'd do references for any jobs I apply for, she said she would. I'll be back there on Wednesday as I volunteer for the organisation, tomorrow I'm installing a new server and setting up a local domain controller. Wish me luck!

The next application form was submitted on Thurs and is for a job at the local secondary school, the same one that my children will attend, Her name was already on it as a potential referee, Naughty me.
