This is so probably yesterday's news, but has anyone heard about the "comedy" on ABC called 'Work It Out' or something like that about guys crossdressing to work?

Is it just me or is this not a funny concept at all?

Did the pitch meeting go like this?

Smith: "We're running out of ideas, Boss? We were thinking a show about making fun of crossdressers"

Boss: "Great idea, Smith! It's never been done before"

Jones: "Wait a minute, Boss! Aren't we in Hollywood supposed to be on the cutting edge of sensitivity?"

Boss (Lighting cigar): "Don't be ridiculous, Jones. Crossdressing is FUNNY! We all know it"

Jones: "But isn't the suicide rate for transgender people and crossdressers astronomical compared to the general population?"

Boss: "Who cares. I think it's funny, and I know what will sell! This can't miss!! Besides, as long as we keep saying we're sensitive to the issues, people will believe it! Har har har. Besides, I'm hearing a pitch for a sitcom based on the 'Killing Fields" of Cambodia at two. Get back to work."

Wonderful. Here's to hoping this crapfest dies a horrible death.

Just sayin'

I saw the commercials for it a LOT

One of my vices is I watch General Hospital every day (since I was 5, I'm now 47). They showed commercials for it quite often. It looks so horrible that I don't understand how it made it past a pilot.

I did like Bosom Buddies way back in the early 80's with Tom Hanks and another guy (forget his name but he also was on Newhart). That show wasn't exploitive, just funny/slapstick type of show.

Disgusting!

If the promos are any indication, this show should go out with the gleanings from the cat box.

The Reviews Are Not Kind

Early reviews based on the first episode of the series are encouraging, if you're looking for an early death to the series.

A good summary of the verdict is contained in the Time review, after a brief exposition on the difference between good dumb shows and bad dumb shows:

"Work It is bad dumb, memorably bad dumb, the kind of bad dumb show you will use in years to come as a benchmark for other bad sitcoms."

I SAW THE PILOT

Iwatched the pilot online. The premise is stupid generally saying that men can't get jobs because women are taking all the positions and women won't hire men. I give it less than half a season.

Very Well Said, Cindi!

Is it just USAers or are all modern cultures so stupid and money/success obsessed?
