Hello, all, here I am, back home 5 days after my surgery, minus my gall bladder and about 1/5th of my pancreas.

I tried to get on at the hospital to let everyone know things were going well, but the 'nanny' filter on their network decided this is not an acceptable site for an adult to visit..

My doctor seemed to be thinking I was doing well. He told me that his personal average for this is 8.8 days, so I am well ahead of that average.

I'll be around but not as often, for the next few days. Shelly ( shalimar ), brought me home a few minutes ago, and tonight, Gwen Brown will be joining her to make sure I do not overdo it.

Hugs all;

Holly

Added on:

I'm not going to push it too hard, but I am going to push it.

The doctor and staff all feel that the reason I was able to come home this soon, was that I did get out and walk a lot as soon as I was cleared to do so. Less than 24 hours after I woke in recovery I walked a few feet with help, and the next morning I began walking the equivalent of several blocks, and tried to do it every 6 hours or so.

I only had help the second time out and then I was on my own. I was told that had a lot to do with my getting out of the hospital in 15 days 31 years ago, after being told it would be 5 or 6 weeks or longer, that time.

It works, get up and get moving ASAP ( as soon as the doctor allows), it after surgery,.

I hope your recovery continues at this rapid rate.

PS. You have a few episodes of Bike to catch up on.

If I didn't have

to work, I would try to stop by and see you also. I live about 12 miles East, out in Greenfield. My desktop died of old age, and I had to get this new one from Scotty, but it quit also, and parts had to be replaced. The laptops also died from old age and heat, even with the batteries removed, they would get hot enough to be uncomfortable to touch, and then just cut off. On line time was limited to about 10 minutes before they had to cool off. Mine got so hot the places where the hinges were on the HP, softened and the hinges broke, one off, and the other on the top so I can't even close it now. Ahhh, technology. I got squared away right as you went in for the surgery. No one even told me you had moved here, although I had heard you were going to.

Welcome home, Holly

Glad you're back

Hi

It was good to hear from Beth how you were doing. It is good to push yourself, but within limits - I just hope you don't over do it

Take care

Karen

I plan to stay within limits, but just barely.

It has been my experience that that is the fastest way to recovery.

Glad to hear

Did try to find time to visit, like Stacy above, I live east of Downtown Indy. I know being in the hospital for more than a day can be very lonely and depressing. Unfortunately, all the complexities of life in the Owd Bob Household kept me tied up 'til today, and I tried to call about the same time as you got out. Please don't hesitate to PM me if I can be of any assistance.

Damn that bit of pancreas did taste nice with a sip of Chianti. Slurp.
Can I have more some please?

You don't need a hospital to filter things for you. Marlborough?
Live as you mean to go on and everyone else be damned!

Luv 'n' hugs. Wishing you all the best for the future.

Wonderful!

I'm the same way. In fact when I busted my thumb riding to the grocery to buy cheese late one night (don't ask), the doctors didn't think I'd ever have full function back... Boy have I proven them wrong, nothing was keeping me from my video games longer than absolutely necessary! As soon as the cast was off, I was whipping that thumb back into shape.

Anyways, good to see you home, please remember to turn off the lights before bed ;P

So glad you're back so quickly. Speaking from experience, I know being home makes recovery much easier. That's quite a support group you have here. Just great news all the way around.
