A friend sent this to me and I thought some of you might get a giggle out of it.

What Religion is Your Bra?

A man walked into the ladies department of a Macy's and shyly walked up to the woman behind the counter and said,
"I'd like to buy a bra for my wife. "

"What type of bra?" asked the clerk.

"Type?" inquires the man, "There's more than one type?"

"Look around," said the saleslady, as she showed a sea of bras in every shape, size, color and material imaginable.

"Actually,even with all of this variety, there are really only four types of bras to choose from ."

Relieved, the man asked about the types.

The saleslady replied:
"There are the Catholic, the Salvation Army, the Presbyterian, and the Baptist types.

Which one would you prefer?"

Now totally befuddled, the man asked about the differences between them.

The Saleslady responded, "It is all really quite simple. .

The Catholic type supports the masses;

The Salvation Army type lifts the fallen;

The Presbyterian type keeps them staunch and upright;

The Baptist type makes mountains out of mole hills."

Have you ever wondered why A, B, C, D, and DD are the letters used to define bra sizes?
If you have wondered why, but couldn't figure out what the letters stood for, it is about time
You became informed!

(A} Almost
{B} Barely
{C} Can't Complain
{D} Dang!
{DD} Double dang!

Actually

I'd really like to say that I have a different explanation for one of the letters - but it's my personal preference. ;)

{B} Best Fit

And is it just me or Salvation Army is not a religion? :)

It's this way

As I understand it, the Salvation Army isn't a religion per-say, but it is a "religious organization"... And, as a result, is allowed to deny services to LGBT people - legally...

There are also other cup sizes: AAA, AA, E, F & G (& beyond, but I don't know anyone - personally - with more than a G cup). I also understand there are NB & NC (near B and near C) in some lines.

I'll not argue the original or your choice at the meaning for B. Size is very personal. Enough for one person is not enough for another - and vice versa.

different brands, different sizes

It seems there is much leeway or latitude in how they determine whats what so you either take the standard measurements and go try on a bunch or find a proper bra shop and get fitted. Bra shop prices are painfully high, but get fitted and buy one bra of a selection based on feel and look, also hopefully a common retail brand. Then you have a good starting point for retail therapy knowing that you stand a better chance of finding similar fit within that brand and general style.
I had a couple of favorite brands and when I asked the girl in the bra shop after fitting she explained to me why those were not right for my physiology. Thats the key, some brands are more suitable to certain body styles as well.

Just like any other garment, then...

Sounds about right - with most garments, if you measure yourself as being size X, then depending on the garment type, shop, brand, style etc. you can find anywhere between X-2 and X+2 fitting. Apparently different stores / brands have different target markets, so they tailor their measurements for someone in their target market. Not to mention the concept of "vanity sizing", where a garment that's really size X will be labelled X-2 or even X-4 to con the wearer into thinking they're smaller than they actually are.

Salvation Army

Annette, I agree with what you say about the SA, but am conflicted because they saved the life of someone who was once close to me. If the dogma works for them and keeps them clean and sober that is fine for they should not be alive today. I am thankful for that.

Mormon types

Yes, but theirs are part of their magical underwear! I guess they would be surprised that there are some TG folks who have the same feelings about their underwear too ---- evil giggle.

Well there are the Unitarian Bras

Ya know, the one size fits all ones :)

Kim

PS Don't get me wrong, I actually like Unitarians as they as far as I know have been welcoming to T folks.

Kim

They invented Unitards?

The Unitarians are nice people, and yes they are open to T folks. Maybe they are into Unitards (that is not a mentally challenged Unitarian, get that thought out of your head right now ;)

A Congregation?

Sounds like that cartoon of a cat sunbathing, definitely more than three :)
