My nephews and niece showed promptly at our agreed time, saw me for the first time as Cathy... and embraced me and told me they love me and accept me!

We went out and ate, re-hashed old times, insulted one another.. good naturedly of course, and just had a wonderful time. They all knew about my transition before this, but had never actually seen Cathy. Now they have, and I have regained some of my family. I had the chance to explain why I am changing, in a way they understood and accepted. THIS is the best Christmas present I could EVER have gotten, and I am so thankful.

NOW I know what people mean when they say they're high on life.

God bless us, every one.

I'm so glad for you Catherine.

When I last SKYPED you you left me worried that you were on the verge of a breakdown and going to pieces.
This blog is the best news I could have wished for.
I'll SKYPE you as soon as I'm back to normal in the household. All sorts of relatives of my wife around over the holiday and no time to set up my laptop somewhere peaceful.
Will get back ASAP.
Lots and lots of love and hugs.

I'm so happy everything went well for you today. I know how much you missed your family and the closeness you used to share.

Big huge happy Hugs!!!

PS: I even got to say hi on Skype to them all! :)

Awesome!

Talking to a cousin, I got a hint of what you've been through. She was completely without communication from her family, after comming out as lesbian and moving to San Francisco with her partner... It was several years later, when her sister broke the wall of silence, and began the healing process... Her partner is STILL (a dozen years later) not welcome in her parent's house, thought they've visited her/her partner's house...

Acceptance by one's family is an amazing thing!

Best wishes,
Anne

glad for you

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
