The evolution of Choices

I would like to take a moment to talk about how the story "Choices" evolved. Like some other ideas i have had, this one came to me while I was struggling to sleep, and originally, it was a lot darker.

At the time, it was going to be about a straight male who is presented with horrible choices, of which slowly transforming into a woman is the least objectionable to him, even though he is not transgendered. Everyone believes this transformation is his own idea, and is totally supportive, which he finds frustrating.

Eventually, he is totally female, married to a man, and has a (adopted) baby. Then suddenly his tormentor dies, and he finds himself free to choose to go back to being a male, but realizes that he would harm the people he loves, so decides to try and tough it out.

Unfortunately, after a night with his husband, realizing that he wasn't attracted to men at all yet feeling like he had to participate anyway, he realizes he has sentenced himself to Hell, and the story would have ended with him in utter despair, counting the days until he died.

The story was pretty bleak, but that matched my state of mind at the time. But something funny happened when I actually started writing. I rediscovered Hope.

The result was the story i ended up posting, which (I hope) was enjoyable, and a lot nicer.

Writing

Has helped me bring things into better focus. I suppose it's a little liking talking about things that bother you. Writing has certainly been therapeutic for me!

Hugs!
